Dressed like an extra from The Crow, the actor plays a tragicomic supporting character in this drama that feels like a TV pilot show
Set in New York City and filmed in Manchester, England, here is a film that aims to play like a feature-length episode of The Wire or The Sopranos. Naturally, that is not an easy target to hit, and the result, while decent enough, falls somewhat short but is still watchable.
Luke Evans plays Adam, a nice guy who made a terrible mistake in his youth: shooting another young man and going to prison for 16 years. His partner, Donna (Stephanie Leonidas), has brought up their son Jimmy to believe his dad simply skipped town and abandoned them, so she’s none too chuffed to find Adam back in the neighbourhood and desperate to reconnect with a now-teenaged Jimmy (Rudy Pankow).

The MTV Movie & TV Awards is taking another break. Variety has confirmed that the event, which would have normally taken place around this time of year, will instead sit 2024 out — with an eye toward returning next year, perhaps in a different, “reimagined” format.
It’s been a bumpy decade for the MTV Movie & TV Awards, which first began in 1992 (as the MTV Movie Awards). Last’s year’s event was forced to pivot to a pre-taped clip show in light of the Hollywood writers’ strike, as host Drew Barrymore bowed out and the WGA announced plans to picket the ceremony.
Meanwhile, in 2020, the MTV Movie & TV Awards also didn’t take place, due in part to the Covid-19 pandemic, but also because the network had planned to move the franchise (long a spring/early summer staple) to December. Ultimately, instead of an awards show, MTV ran a “MTV Movie & TV...

The next time you hear someone complain that they sure don’t make them like they used to, point them in the direction of “Accidental Texan,” an unapologetically old-fashioned feel-good dramedy that, with a few minor tweaks, could pass as a newly rediscovered family-friendly feature from the mid-1970s. Back then, the lead roles probably would have been filled by the likes of, say, Brian Keith and Kurt Russell. Here, Thomas Haden Church (“Sideways”) and Rudy Pankow (Netflix’s “Outer Banks”) do the honors, and they’re at the top of their game, along with supporting players Bruce Dern and Carrie-Anne Moss. Undemandingly entertaining, director Mark Bristol’s well-crafted indie can be savored as a heaping helping of palate-cleansing sherbet, best enjoyed between viewings of bigger and louder but by no means better movies. And yes, that’s meant as a compliment.

"Five pounds of trigger pressure – so your aim, never off." Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for the film 5lbs of Pressure, an action thriller by filmmaker Phil Allocco. Filmed mostly in the UK even though this is an American production. Yet another generic crime thriller with the same characters and plot we've seen often recently. Trying to start over, Adam searches for redemption returning to his old neighborhood to put to rest his demons, though he comes under new pressure when the brother of the man he killed seeks revenge on him. Meanwhile, Mike, is trying to escape a life of crime living under the thumb of his gangster Uncle Leff. The movie stars Luke Evans as Adam, Rory Culkin as Mike, Zac Adams, Rudy Pankow, Stephanie Leonidas, Savannah Steyn, Lorraine Burroughs, and Alex Pettyfer as Leff. This is not a bad trailer, it just doesn't really convince me this is worth watching.

It’s been quite a week for Outer Banks star Austin North.
TMZ broke the news of the 27-year-old’s arrest for gross misdemeanor battery after being accused of attacking employees at a Las Vegas hospital.
According to the outlet, officers arrived at the hospital after the actor allegedly punched a nurse in the head, shoved the face of another nurse, and pushed a third hospital worker into a table.
The Netflix star reportedly had to be restrained by security guards.
North, who plays Topper in the treasure-hunting teen drama, addressed the incident on Instagram in the aftermath.
He shed light on why he was in the hospital in the first place, claiming that his friend drove him to the hospital in question because “I thought I was having a heart attack.”

"This acting, this was always your dream?" Obviously enough, this originally premiered at the 2023 Dallas Film Festival last year, with a stop at the Heartland Film Festival in Indiana as well. Fresh-faced actor Erwin finds himself stranded in Texas after a film shoot gone wrong, where he's taken under the wing of a nearly bankrupt oil driller. They set off on a wild Texas adventure to outwit a corrupt oil company to hit pay dirt before Merle's dreams are foreclosed, partnering with a kind waitress along the way. Scream VI was named best movie on Sunday night at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards, which pivoted at the last minute from live to pretaped due to the writers strike,
The film also won best fight for Courteney Cox (as Gale Weathers) and the killer Ghostface, the latter of whom accepted both awards via pretaped video.
Accepting best movie, Ghostface quipped that there is finally an answer to the question, “What is your favorite scary movie?” — a reference to a classic line of dialogue from the franchise.
The Last of Us also was a big winner, taking three awards, including best show. Star Pedro Pascal was named best hero, while he and Bella Ramsey also were named best duo. Stranger Things won two awards.
The show was held amid the ongoing writers strike, which led host Drew Barrymore to drop out in a show of support for the striking scribes.

While the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards weren't held live on May 7, some of Hollywood's biggest stars still got their moment during the prerecorded show. In the lead-up to Sunday, the ceremony planned for Barker Hangar in Los Angeles was scrapped amid the Writers Guild of America strike. Host Drew Barrymore stepped back from the gig in support of the striking writers, and the decision to do without a red carpet closely followed. The 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards went on with a pretaped ceremony amid the writers strike and talent pulling out in support of the movement.
Drew Barrymore dropped out of hosting duties earlier this week and pledged to return next year. Barrymore had already pretaped the opening segment of the show where she was inserted in scenes from films like Cocaine Bear, M3GAN, and Top Gun: Maverick, as well as TV shows like The White Lotus, all while dressed as her Never Been Kissed character Josie Gellar.

“I wish we could all be together so that I could look into your eyes and tell you that all the young people in the world are my heroes and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you,” he said in his acceptance speech.

Francesca Cappucci, who spent more than a decade as a popular entertainment and music reporter at Kabc-tv in Los Angeles, has died. She was 64.
Cappucci died March 30 at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena after being diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic lung cancer in July, her older son, Ian Lyndon, told The Hollywood Reporter. She never smoked and “was an advocate for wellness and ran and exercised every day, that’s why [her illness] was such a shock,” he said.
Out of the blue, Quentin Tarantino named the glamorous Italian movie star wife of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton after her in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).
Cappucci and the filmmaker never met, Ian said, and she was “blown away” when she and his brother, Will, saw the movie on the big screen for the first time. (The character was played by Chilean actress Lorenza Izzo.)

Netflix’s teen drama Outer Banks is back for its third season. And although there are many burning questions that need to be answered, we can’t help but just be excited to see our favorite familiar faces again. We know that John B (Chase Stokes), Pope (Jonathon Daviss), JJ (Rudy Pankow), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) will take us, once again, on a legendary treasure hunt. Plus, we already know that the drama will be back for a fourth season — it was renewed days before the third even dropped, at the streaming service’s Poguelandia, a fan-fueled immersive music event — which makes it a bit easier knowing we have to wait, once again, for new episodes and adventures. Co-creators, showrunners, and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke said at the time, “Seeing Poguelandia come to life was nothing short of spectacular.

“Jiara,” which consists of JJ Maybank (Rudy Pankow) and Kiara Carrera (Madison Bailey), became a fan favorite ship back in Outer Banks Season 1 before their potential was even realized. Josh Pate revealed to EW that the entire Outer Banks creative team “were inspired by the fan reaction” to the duo’s bond after the first season. This led to a pivot in the story in order to fully develop a real romance between them. He explained, “You realize that people process things differently, and seeing those little fan videos [on social media] was really a great reflection. I was like, ‘Oh my God, it was in there. I see why people really took to that.'”

The cast of Outer Banks have heard all of the bizarre, creative, and somewhat genius theories that fans have brainstormed throughout the Netflix show’s three seasons. Some theories are a bit too unbelievable to ever come true. However, others are so twisted they just might work. The Outer Banks sibling theory, in particular, has intrigued Madelyn Cline so much that she’s trying to get the writers to make it happen. Here’s a closer look at the sibling theory and what Cline had to say about it.

Outer Banks Season 2 ended with the jaw-dropping reveal that John B.’s dad was still alive. Since that final episode dropped more than 18 months ago, fans have discussed their theories about what this means for the story moving forward. According to one, it’s very possible that John B.’s dad could be the series’ new villain.
Chase Stokes and Charles Halford | Jackson Lee Davis/Netflix ‘Outer Banks’ Season 3 is on the island of ‘Poguelandia’
The Netflix trailer for Outer Banks Season 3 was all about “two tribes, one island” off the coast of North Carolina. The series continues to follow the wealthy and elite “Kooks” and the working class “Pogues,” and this time they are alive and abandoned on a deserted island now deemed “Poguelandia.”
In the 10-episode third season, the island’s new residents appear to be living an idyllic, care-free life as they fish and swim together.

One of Netflix’s most successful young adult series, Outer Banks premiered in April 2020 to high ratings — an escape from the content wastelands that had less to do with the show’s quality and more to do with the sheer amount of streaming time the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic gave people.
