Despite only making his comic book debut in 2011, Miles Morales is already one of the most popular superheroes that Marvel have at their disposal, and the character’s profile has only increased over the last couple of years. For one, he took the lead in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018, which received widespread critical acclaim and swiftly gained a reputation as one of the best animated movies of the modern era.
On top of that, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will arrive on the PS5 next month and mark the hotly-anticipated follow-up to a first installment that’s already regarded as a modern classic. Having conquered the world of animation and video games, the next logical step is a live-action blockbuster, and given recent developments surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man 3, it isn’t surprising that Miles has found himself linked to a threequel that seems guaranteed to start building...

Developer Insomniac Games has recast Peter Parker’s face model in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered in an attempt to better utilize the visual upgrades offered by the PS5 and to set the series up for its future on the next-gen console. When Peter Parker appears on the PS5, it’ll be with the face of Ben Jordan and not John Bubniak.
As you might expect, the fan reaction to this change has been…interesting so far. In fact, the first thing that most people pointed out is that Peter Parker’s new face actor bears more than a passing resemblance to current big-screen Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland.

The world is reeling from the truly tragic news that arrived last week, that Marvel star Chadwick Boseman has passed away from colon cancer at the age of 43. One of the many reasons Boseman’s death is so heartbreaking and unexpected is that he was at the peak of his career, with several big projects lined up, including Black Panther 2.
Almost as soon as the news of his death broke, fans took to Twitter to make it clear that they don’t want the studio to replace the actor, out of respect for his loss and the brilliant performance he gave over his four appearances in the McU – Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. And below, you can see just some of what folks have had to say over the past few days.

Even though Sony had been working on a Kraven the Hunter movie since 2018, with The Equalizer‘s Richard Wenk hired to write the script and the Denzel Washington thriller’s director Antoine Fuqua being eyed to step behind the camera, most fans had been expecting the big game hunter to show up as the villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man 3 instead.
Director Jon Watts wanted him to become a part of the franchise, and while that may still happen, based on the announcement that Triple Frontier director J.C. Just a few months ago, Marvel fans were gearing up for both Black Widow in May and The Eternals in November. Of course, that’s not to be anymore and we’re only getting the single McU pic this year. With Bw taking the November release slot, the aforementioned superhero ensemble flick has moved to February. That may be a while away, but it sounds like Marvel is working on something to reward fans for their patience.
As pointed out by McU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, Amit Chaudhari – who’s been accurate when it comes to imminent trailer info in the past – is claiming that sources have told him the studio has got something up their sleeves when it comes to The Eternals. Chaudhari can’t say whether this is a full teaser trailer or perhaps a smaller sneak peek, but apparently something is on its way.

According to industry insider Jeremy Conrad, Marvel Studios is debating the possibility of having Thanos return for another movie in the near future.
For close to a decade, the Mad Titan’s nefarious grin and floating throne haunted the end credits of nearly every McU film, leaving comic book fans excited and casual audiences confused. Then, in 2018, the galactic warrior opened a portal up to earth, and challenged the planet’s strongest heroes to a brawl for a set of primordial artifacts known as Infinity Stones.
The fiercest foe the Avengers have faced by far, Thanos remains one of the McU’s most popular villains. And thanks to a menacing performance by Josh Brolin as well as state-of-the-art motion capture technology, his image has been etched into the minds of millions.
Given the character’s enormous popularity, it makes sense that Marvel wants to see him in yet another feature.

Writing for Dceu Mythic, industry insider Jeremy Conrad reports that Warner Bros. has begun development on a Justice League: Rebirth film. The project, he maintains, will be “separate” from the upcoming Snyder Cut, not continuing the Justice League story set up in that movie. If this all sounds familiar, it’s because We Got This Covered already told you last week that Rebirth was in the works and now, Conrad’s intel has seemingly confirmed our initial scoop.
Speculating about casting and direction, Conrad goes on to say that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if WB approached J.J. Abrams to shoot the film. Abrams, who oversaw most of the new Star Wars trilogy for Disney, may indeed be the perfect fit. After all, since he was responsible for rebooting the Star Wars saga for modern audiences, Conrad thinks WB may want him to take a crack at Justice League.

Given the massive depth of the roster of superheroes available to them, one that’s only set to get a lot larger now that the rights to big hitters like the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool are in their hands, it could be argued that the Marvel Cinematic Universe should try and actively avoid repeating the same formula that served them so well throughout the Infinity Saga.
Of course, that approach yielded well over $20 billion at the box office and produced the highest-grossing movie of all-time so it definitely works, but with the McU now firmly established as the single most lucrative and popular brand in the industry, there’s no better time to take some huge creative risks, because anything that bears the studio’s logo is nailed-on for success at this point.

A couple of years ago, Deadline reported that one of the many projects DC had in the works was a Zatanna movie, based around the comic book sorceress. Since then, however, none of the major trades have followed that up with further updates on such a film. At long last, though, it seems there’s finally some movement on the pic.
Dceu Mythic’s Jeremy Conrad says that sources have told him the Zatanna movie is now in active development. Conrad clarifies that this will be a totally separate version of the heroine from the one who’ll feature in J.J. Abrams’ Justice League Dark TV series that’s set to land on HBO Max. He also speculates that the confusion surrounding what’s going on with the Superman mythos in the Dceu has frozen the Supergirl film, which is what’s caused Zatanna to become more of a priority.

Ever since Daredevil was cancelled by Netflix in late 2018, fans have been praying that Marvel would bring back Charlie Cox as the Man Without Fear elsewhere in the McU. The hitch was, though, that Netflix retained the rights to the show’s characters for a full two years after its end. So Marvel couldn’t do anything with Matt Murdock until after late 2020. At least, that’s what we thought. It seems the ban might’ve actually been lifted a few months early, though.

That sounded ages away, but here we are in spring 2020, and that moratorium only has a few months left to go.
McU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad reminded us of this fact on Twitter today. The insider pointed out one possible positive of the coronavirus outbreak delaying all upcoming McU projects, suggesting that if Spider-Man 3 doesn’t start filming until November, it’s possible that they could make use of the lifting of the Daredevil ban and bring Charlie Cox’s hero back to team up with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.

The superhero studio has a stacked release schedule, so they can only push ScarJo’s solo film back so long before everything starts tumbling like dominoes.

And thanks to McU Cosmic, we know that the studio is after two actresses to play stand-ins for a couple of major characters. Not only that, but the description for one of them may point to the identity of the series’ main villain.
According to Jeremy Conrad’s intel, Marvel has sent out a casting call for a female Caucasian between 5’6″ and 5’8″ with blonde hair. Conrad notes that the call was very keen to stress that blonde hair is a necessity for the part. The second actress they need, meanwhile, is an African American female, slightly taller than the blonde actress at 5’7″ to 5’9″.
It’s unclear which character the second description could apply to, but Conrad speculates that the first suggests that Enchantress might be appearing in Loki.

Though it’s yet to be officially confirmed, all the signs are pointing to the Young Avengers forming in the McU in the near future (which Wgtc first told you was happening last year). Many projects coming over the next few years will start scattering members of the teen super-team into the franchise, so it stands to reason that they’ll unite in their own vehicle at some point. And now, another adolescent hero is reportedly being cast.
According to insider Daniel Richtman on Patreon, Marvel is looking to cast Hulking for an upcoming project, though he doesn’t say which one. That hasn’t stopped fans from speculating, though, with tons of options now being put forth on Twitter.
For those unfamiliar with the comics, the character’s name is pretty misleading, as he hasn’t got anything to do with Hulk, per se. Hulkling is actually an alien of half-Kree/half-Skrull origin.

The first trailer for Morbius dropped this afternoon and it revealed a major bombshell. Marvel fans weren’t sure what to think of another villain-centric Spidey spinoff movie from Sony, even after Venom’s huge success, but now everyone couldn’t be more hyped, and it’s all to do with a shocking cameo hidden in the final scene of the trailer from none other than Michael Keaton, reprising his role as Adrian Toomes Aka the Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Apart from the fun of having one of the best Spidey movie villains back, Toomes’ role in Morbius confirms that the Sony Marvel flicks are part of the McU, after all. Needless to say, fans are pretty blown away by this revelation and the news that we can expect more from the Vulture soon. Perhaps even in a way that sets up the formation of the Sinister Six.

It was a dark day when Netflix cleared the last couple of Marvel shows from their slate about a year ago, bringing to a close The Defenders corner of the McU. This being the enormous, ever-expanding Marvel universe we’re talking about, though, fans have clung on to the hope that the studio would bring back the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and the Punisher elsewhere. The only hitch was that Marvel had to wait two years until after Netflix had cancelled their shows to make further use of these characters.
At least, this used to be the case. McU Cosmic has now shared a new rumor though claiming that Marvel is actually already developing a handful of projects starring Defenders heroes. It was huge news when it was first announced back in 2013 that Netflix were developing a slate of TV shows based on Marvel Comics characters, given that the big screen McU was already one of the most popular brands in the entire entertainment industry. While we ultimately ended up with 161 episodes spread out over six individual series, the general consensus was that Netflix’s Marvel experiment was largely enjoyable, but also wildly inconsistent.
Jessica Jones and Daredevil were the most widely-praised by far, Luke Cage and The Punisher fell somewhere in the middle, while poor Iron Fist didn’t seem to have many fans at all. Even the heavily-hyped Defenders miniseries, which fans were hoping would be a small-screen, city-level version of The Avengers, turned out to be a disappointment.

Marvel’s old tactic of selling off the screen rights to its most popular characters has come back to bite them in recent years as they haven’t been able to put all their toys in the same box. With the X-Men and the Fantastic Four acquired thanks to the Fox merger and the Spider-Man/Sony deal continuing, though, the toy box is fuller than ever. Two of the last to completely come home, however, are Hulk and Namor, who have their rights split with another studio. Or at least, that used to be the case.

More than nineteen months after the release of Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds finally confirmed last week that a third movie is in development.
Given how long it’s taken for Deadpool 3 to even get this far, you might think we have a long wait ahead of us before the film actually makes its way to theaters. But while we probably shouldn’t expect Disney to deliver anything before the end of Marvel’s Phase 4, it’s starting to sound like Wade Wilson’s next solo outing may not have as far to go as the last year-and-a-half of near-silence would suggest.
Scoopster Jeremy Conrad, for instance, recently claimed via Twitter that things are “ramping up very quickly” for the third Deadpool, and that he “wouldn’t be shocked” if the movie began filming in 2020 or early 2021, before filling Marvel’s October 2022 release slot. Marvel fans were understandably disappointed when the full line-up for Phase 4 was unveiled this past summer and it didn’t feature an Avengers movie. Each of the three previous phases of the McU have been built around at least one or two big team-up events, but this upcoming slate seemed to suggest that the studio was retiring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. It won’t be for long, though, as Kevin Feige and co. still have plans for some of the Og Avengers. It’s just that the next time you see them, it might not be how you’re used to.

Get ready to enter the dark side of the McU. Marvel is gearing up to explore the mature, horror-flavored corner of the comics universe soon with projects such as Blade and Moon Knight. As such, we already know to expect vampires and men imbued with powers by an Egyptian God to be running around the McU. But now, we’re hearing that werewolves will be joining the fray, too. Specifically, anti-hero Werewolf By Night Aka Jack Russell.
McU Cosmic has reported that it’s looking likely that Moon Knight will feature Werewolf By Night in a supporting role. This isn’t the first time the character has been linked to Marvel’s upcoming plans, either, so this info seems pretty reliable.
