Maya Hawke may not have seen the series finale script yet, but the “Stranger Things” star is promising that the fifth and final season of the viral Netflix series will answer all the questions audiences have had about the show’s various twists.
The “Inside Out 2” actress told Collider that “Stranger Things 5” is an “extremely exciting” adventure leading into the final two episodes to conclude the show.
“I do know what happens before then and it’s extremely exciting,” Hawke said. “It’s always wonderful when the kind of riddle of a world that gets built, starts to get resolved and questions start to be answered. I think it was mind-bogglingly wonderful for me and I think audiences will feel that way too.”

With Pieces Interactive set to unleash the remake of Alone in the Dark next month, it was time to give the fans a taste of the madness. Said madness can be found in the new trailer for Alone in the Dark, which not only features actors Jodie Comer and David Harbour chatting about the game, but also introduces players to the colourful inhabitants of Derceto Manor.
“I think what I’m most drawn to is the different characters, because they are so fully fleshed out and so colourful and vibrant,” states Comer. “You really do feel like when Emily meets a new character the world is completely changed.”
Alone in the Dark remake Writer and Director Mikael Hedberg appears in the trailer, referring to Derceto Manor as one of the most parts of the game. “It’s at its very core a haunted mansion story. That’s why we needed...

It's been over a year and a half since "Stranger Things" season 4 arrived on Netflix, and fans have been eagerly anticipating the return of the hit sci-fi series. Plus, there's a bit of a ticking clock on the series, since the teenage cast members, who were just kids when the show began back in 2016, are aging more everyday and don't exactly look like they belong in high school anymore. Thankfully, with the Hollywood strikes resolved and a new year upon us, 2024 is the year that "Stranger Things" goes back into production.
Netflix has officially announced that production has begun on "Stranger Things" season 5. The return of the series was celebrated with an official cast photo showing all the primary characters who will be returning, all seated with series creators Matt & Ross Duffer, including Jamie Campbell Bower as last season's villain Vecna, formerly Henry Creel. Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer, who are known as the Duffer Brothers, are shooting down a theory about the series finale.
After five seasons of fighting demons from The Upside-Down, the Netflix sci-fi series is coming to an end. The show’s fifth and final season was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes and fans have been speculating about how the series will conclude.
One theory that has been circling among the most die-hard fans of the show is that none of the events have ever existed. The theory relies on the main characters playing a big, long and convoluted game of Dungeons and Dragons.
“That is correct. That is the ending…. No,” Matt jokingly told Metro at the West End premiere of Stranger Things: The First Shadow about the fan theory.
Ross added, “That would be the equivalent of, ‘That’s all a dream.

“Stranger Things” creators Matt and Ross Duffer are shutting down at least one fan theory about the upcoming ending to their blockbuster Netflix series. On the red carpet for the new “Stranger Things” play in London, the duo went on record to Metro saying the series will not end with a reveal that all the events in the Upside Down were just a dream.
One fan theory about the “Stranger Things” ending alleges all the events on screen during the show’s run were actually just the main characters playing an elaborate and very long game of Dungeons and Dragons, a favorite among the characters since the show’s first season.
“No,” Matt said bluntly when the fan theory was brought up.
“That would be the equivalent of, ‘That’s all a dream,'” Ross added. “No, I assure you that is not how we’re going to end the show.

Though it took far too many years to get a solo film for the titular character, Marvel's "Black Widow" finally arrived in 2021. Despite the fact that Natasha Romanov (Scarlett Johansson) had already died in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by that point, at least we got a proper send-off for the character and the introduction of Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, the clear Mvp of the film.
We also got a really fun performance from David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov, aka Red Guardian, who, along with Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz), acted as sleeper Russian agents living in Ohio with the young Yelena (Violet McGraw) and Natasha (Ever Anderson). At the beginning of the film, these four are living as a family undercover, but when they're made, they have to take off in a rush for a flight to Cuba, in fear for their lives. “Stranger Things” is finally going back to Hawkins.
Production on the fifth and final season of the juggernaut Netflix series is currently set to begin in early January, according to multiple sources, though the start date is still subject to change. Filming was postponed for over seven months due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Creators and executive producers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer were among the most high profile showrunners to announce they were suspending work after the writers strike began in May, posting on social media that “Writing does not stop when filming begins.” When the Duffer brothers spoke to Variety in July about series costar Noah Schnapp (who was part of the Power of Young Hollywood issue), they elaborated on that sentiment.
“Since it’s our scripts, you’re changing it all the time on the fly,” Matt Duffer said. “You’re either working it out with the actors,...

When it comes to celebrity relationships, "Stranger Things" actor David Harbour and singer-actor Lily Allen have long been in contention for the cutest couple award. In the early stages of their relationship, the two were private about specific details regarding when and how they started dating - which began on the Raya dating app and resulted in their first date at The Wolseley in London. Over time, however, the pair haven't been shy about showing off their romance.
Ever since they were labeled an item back in October 2019, the pair have showered each other with love in sweet ways, whether in formal interviews or silly Instagram posts. During a June 2022 appearance on "The Late Late Show With James Corden," Harbour opened up about his first meeting with Allen, sharing how the couple fell in love. Actor David Harbour and English songstress Lily Harbour are now celebrating three years of a happy and blissful marriage, with the singer calling the wedding, her best decision. The British singer-songwriter, 38, shared an Instagram photo from the couple’s wedding day in 2020 .
“3 years with this guy, 2nd best decision I ever made. 1st was that dress,” Allen captioned the post.
In the image, Allen and the ‘Stranger Things’ actor, 48, are looking at each other, with the singer laughing while wearing a simple veil to complement her white off-the-shoulder mini wedding dress, People magazine reported.
Two years ago, to celebrate their first wedding anniversary, Allen shared a carousel of photo and video memories on Instagram.
One of the photos included a picture of her in her wedding dress, paired with a cheetah coat, while showing off her veil and manicured nails.
“1 year down with this guy. Happy Anniversary baby @dkharbour,” she wrote.

In an interview prior to the ongoing actors' strike, David Harbour expressed uncertainty regarding the filming of his next MCU movie, Thunderbolts.
Harbour's involvement in Phase 5 was announced at 2022's D23 Convention, along with the rest of the titular team's roster. While Harbour reprises the role of Red Guardian, as seen in 2020's Black Widow, he will be joined by the likes of Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Val).
The actor had been prepared for a busy summer, splitting his time between filming both the fifth season of Stranger Things and the McU's Thunderbolts, but both projects are currently delayed due to the Screen Actors Guild's ongoing strike.

Joe Keery is already having bittersweet feelings toward the “Stranger Things” series finale.
The actor told Wwd that while he’s ready for the hit Netflix show to wrap up, it “won’t be easy” to say goodbye to the series as a whole.
“It does feel like it’s time,” he said, adding, “it won’t be easy for it to end. I owe my whole career to being on that show, and all the opportunities that I had since are because of that show, so it’s very convoluted. There’s a sense of relief, there’s a sense of sadness.”
“Stranger Things” premiered in 2016 and is set to wrap up with the fifth and final season. Keery noted that he has had to emotionally prepare to walk away from the show while getting ready to film the final episodes.

"Stranger Things" season 4 was chock full of big moments. We learned about the origin of Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) powers, got a powerful performance from Sadie Sink as Max, remembered the majesty that is the music of Kate Bush with the song "Running Up That Hill," and more. On top of all of that, we also got a side plot where it's revealed that Hopper (David Harbour) is alive and in a Russian prison, complete with bruises and an on-camera head shave.
What you saw was not CGI. In fact, there was nothing fake about it at all. Harbour did get his head shaved on camera, and as you probably know, you can only do that once, so you'd better get it right. While it may not have been as dramatic as, say, Natalie Portman getting her head shaved in "V for Vendetta," it was still a dicey proposition...

“Gran Turismo,” based in part on the popular video game but also the real-life story of a gamer (played in the film by Archie Madekwe) who wins a tournament and becomes a real-life driver, is more of an old school sports movie than a high-tech video game adaptation. Think “The Karate Kid” more than “Detective Pikachu.” And what is a sports movie without a gruff but loving trainer/coach character? And who better than to play that role than David Harbour? TheWrap spoke to Harbour and Madekwe (before the SAG-AFTRA strike) about the movie and inhabiting those classic sports movie roles. You can watch the full video above.

Plot: The true story of Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe), a gifted Gran Turismo player who parlayed his skills into a professional race car driving career.
Review: While some might roll their eyes at the notion of Hollywood making a movie out of Gran Turismo, the famed racing simulator, this is a surprisingly rock-solid effort that’s not much of a video game adaptation at all. Similar to the recent Tetris, this is less of a video game adaptation than a dramatization of a fascinating true story that involved the game. Nissan actually did have a competition where Gran Turismo players were given a chance to train as professional racers. Mardenborough was gifted enough on the track that he went onto a legit career in F1.
It adds up to a pretty interesting underdog story that offers director Neill Blomkamp a change of pace, with this essentially a straightforward sports movie.

It’s off to the races for Sony’s video game adaptation “Gran Turismo,” which opens in theaters this weekend. The racing drama, starring Archie Madekwe, David Harbour and Orlando Bloom, made $1.4 million in Thursday previews at the box office.
The film is expected to open between $10 million and $12 million this weekend. It carries a $60 million budget, and on top of that, “Barbie” and “Blue Beetle” are hot on its heels, so there may not be a victory lap for “Gran Turismo.”

Hey, as the Summer movie season races (hint) to that Labor Day finish line (again), the studios aren’t quite done with toy-based stories. In that aspect, a new box office champ has been crowned with the “pink princess” zooming past those video game plumbing icons. Now, this new release leans into the latter’s territory as its roots are in the gaming world. Oh, and like the “under the radar” Tetris flick, it is actually based on a true story, This isn’t a twist on the old “Cold War Cloak and Daggar” thriller like that one or even an “origin story” of the game’s creation. Instead, this is closer to an old-fashioned, grit and glory, sports underdog fable, Yes sports, as we follow one determined young man whose dreams become reality when he enters the world of Gran Turismo.

Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story star David Harbour considers his new film to be a real-life The Last Starfighter.
In Nick Castle’s 1984 film that Steven Spielberg and Seth Rogen have both tried to remake, Alex Rogan (Lance Guest) is an aimless teenager who perfects an arcade game called Starfighter and ends up being recruited by the game’s alien inventor to help fight in an interstellar war. Well, Neil Blomkamp’s Gran Turismo tells the true story of how Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe) mastered the Gran Turismo video game en route to being recruited by Nissan and becoming a professional racing driver.
Harbour’s character, Jack Salter, who’s a former driver turned mechanic, is the one tasked with actually turning Jann into a proper race car driver, and the role has shades of Robert Duvall in Days of Thunder (1990), John Candy in Cool Runnings (1993) and Emilio Estevez...

Saying goodbye to Stranger Things will be tough.
The series has delivered plenty of mystery throughout its first four seasons, but the big mystery plaguing fans right now is:
When the heck will Stranger Things Season 5 even air?
While waiting for word on that, Hopper actor David Harbour opened up about the first scripts he read for the supernatural drama's final season.
"They're terrific, as per usual," the actor said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
"They continue to outdo themselves, these currently-on-strike writers called the Duffer Brothers."
At the end of Stranger Things Season 4, Hawkins -- and its residents -- were left in a perilous situation when the town was being destroyed by supernatural forces arriving from the Upside Down.
As a result, Harbour vows, "The set pieces and the things in the scripts that we saw are bigger than anything we've done in the past."

As for the final episode, Harbour added, “I know what it is. I know where we net out and it’s very, very moving. That is the term I will use.”

As for the final episode, Harbour added, “I know what it is. I know where we net out and it’s very, very moving. That is the term I will use.”

Netflix’s Stranger Things was about to start production on its fifth and final season in May when shooting was delayed due to the writers strike, with creators/executive producers the Duffer Brothers telling fans that “writing does not stop when filming begins.”
Series star David Harbour has confirmed that he — and likely the rest of the cast — have seen multiple scripts for the upcoming season.
“They’re terrific, as per usual,” Harbour said of the scripts on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “They continue to outdo themselves, these currently-on-strike writers called the Duffer Brothers.”
Harbour confirmed previous remarks by the Duffers and other Stranger Things creatives that the show is pulling out all the stops for Season 5, which will be its grandest in scope.

While the final season of “Stranger Things” continues to be delayed by Hollywood labor disputes, David Harbour confirmed that he received the Season 5 scripts prior to the writers strike, teasing that the ending is “very moving.”
Harbour said on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that while he hasn’t read the final ending yet, he knows generally how the story resolves. “I know what it is,” he said of the ending, in an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike. “I know where we net out and it’s very, very moving. Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper on the Netflix sci-fi series, suggested that Season 5 won’t pick up immediately after the fallout of Season 4, which ended with Max (Sadie Sink) in a coma and the Upside Down seeping into Hawkins.

The fifth and final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, like so many other projects, has seen an indefinite delay due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, since coupled with that surrounding SAG-AFTRA. As fans continue to have no choice but to slow their anticipation, some of the show’s stars have thoughts on the excitement of Stranger Things’ farewell season and the opportunities that it will offer.
Both Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, and David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, told separate publications about the impending final season of Stranger Things. Speaking with NME, Harbour said, “There’s something about pouring yourself into the final season…that sprint to the finish line, that is exciting and almost euphoric to me.” Meanwhile, Brown told Wwd, “I think I’m ready [for the end of Stranger Things]. Millie Bobby Brown said in a recently published interview with Women’s Wear Daily that she is ready for “Stranger Things” to end with its upcoming fifth season. Production on the final run of episodes has been delayed because of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Brown has been a fixture on “Stranger Things” as Eleven since its pilot episode, and the show’s popularity turned her and her young co-stars into global superstars.
“I think I’m ready,” Brown said about “Stranger Things” ending. “It’s been such a huge factor in part of my life, but it’s like graduating high school, it’s like senior year. Gran Turismo, based on the PlayStation racing simulation games and directed by District 9 helmer Neill Blomkamp, is many things: a sports movie, an underdog story, a somewhat accurate biodrama. It is also a film about dads.
We’ve all seen it before, whether in October Sky or High School Musical: a plucky young man wants to follow his dreams while his father disapproves. In Gran Turismo, Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe) wants to leverage his virtual driving skills into a professional racing career. His ex-footballer dad (Djimon Hounsou) thinks, perhaps quite rationally, this is insane. But when a novel training program called Gt Academy plucks Jann from his small Welsh hometown for the opportunity of a lifetime, our timid novice finds another father figure in the form of his prickly, reluctant mentor.

David Harbour adds another big screen role to his filmography when “Gran Turismo” hits theaters on August 25. And that’s what the “Stranger Things” star wants: because he doesn’t want to be associated with Jim Hopper the rest of his career.
EW reports that in a new interview with Insider, Harbour opened up about the imminent end of “Stranger Things,” and how he’s ready to tackle other parts and roles after the fifth and final seasons.

While David Harbour is appreciative of the success Stranger Things has brought him, he is ready to focus on projects for the big screen.

“I’ve been on Netflix…but this was a small original movie that’s going to a cinema,” he said of the 2022 film, in which he plays Santa Clause trying to save a family held hostage on Christmas Eve. “I like this playing field. I want to make original movies that go to the movie theaters.”

David Harbour wants to concentrate on making original movies when 'Stranger Things' ends, because he doesn't want people shouting "Hopper" at him "every minutes for the rest of his life".The 48-year-old star has become best known for playing police chief Jim Hopper in the Netflix hit, but when he wraps on the series he is planning to concentrate on making films, because he doesn't want to just be known for one role. Speaking about playing a dark version of Santa Claus in 2022 movie 'Violent Night', he told Insider: "I’ve been on Netflix, but this was a small original movie that’s going to a cinema. David Harbour has the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” in front of him, awaiting strike settlements before production begins.
But he’s already looking at what comes next.
“The first year of “Stranger Things,” I remember having a discussion with a publicist and her saying, ‘Maybe you don’t want to be associated with the show so much,’ and I was like, ‘Why? Harbour has gotten a head start on his next phase. He plays Red Guardian in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a bloody Santa Claus in the film Violent Night, the title character in a Hellboy reboot, and a racing coach in the upcoming Gran Turismo.

David Harbour would appreciate it if you could refrain from screaming the name “Hopper” at him in public. It was flattering at first, but after so many years of playing Jim Hopper for Netflix’s Stranger Things, the actor hopes to move forward. He’s got several feature-length projects on the horizon and plans to make feature films exclusively after Stranger Things ends with its fifth and final season.
Speaking with Insider before the SAG-AFTRA strike kicked into high gear, he said he’s ready to become a featured player in films people will remember. “I’ve been on Netflix, but this was a small original movie that’s going to a cinema,” Harbour said about his ultra-violent Christmas-themed action-comedy Violent Night resonating with audiences. “A whole new world opened up for me with that. I like this playing field. I want to make original movies that go to the movie theaters.

David Harbour Was Cautioned About Being Typecast as His ‘Stranger Things’ Character for Future Roles
David Harbour doesn’t want his career to just be another stranger thing. The “Stranger Things” star recently told Insider that he was cautioned about being typecast as police chief character Jim Hopper due to the unprecedented success of the Netflix series.

He continued, “I think about George Clooney leaving ‘ER.’ Now we just see him as George Clooney. But there was a time when it was, ‘The guy from “ER” is doing a movie with Nicole Kidman.

David Harbour is back in theaters this month opposite Orlando Bloom in Sony’s “Gran Turismo,” but he’s well aware the public will continue to recognize him for his role as Hopper on Netflix’s blockbuster series “Stranger Things.” With the fifth and final season of the show still left to film once the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are resolved, Harbour told Insider pre-strikes that he’s fully planning on acting in films exclusively once “Stranger Things” wrapped.
Harbour had a strong run as a character actor in films such as “Brokeback Mountain” and “Revolutionary Road” before his star profile exploded with the success of “Stranger Things.” His first attempt to parlay the success of “Stranger Things” into a movie career failed thanks to the box office bomb that was “Hellboy,” but he got things back on track with Marvel’s “Black Widow” and Universal’s “Violent Night,” a...

There are some actors who, once they dip their fingers into the comic book genre, they’re here to stay. David Harbour is certainly one of those actors. Harbour started his career playing supporting roles in various movies and tv shows before he gained wider recognition thanks to the role of Jim Hopper in Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things,’ which launched his career to a higher level. After that, it was a matter of time before he joined some big franchises like Marvel and DC. And check this out; now he’s part of both.

While writer-director Neill Blomkamp’s expertise with genre material — from his international breakthrough, sci-fi revelation District 9 (2009), to dystopian dramas Elysium (2013) and Chappie (2015) — makes him a good fit for an action-oriented sports biopic, it’s perhaps his background as a visual effects artist that proves his greatest asset in bringing Gran Turismo to the screen.
Marshaling a well-integrated combination of innovative digital camera techniques, compelling production design choices and an impressive visual style, Blomkamp’s visceral directing emphatically reinforces the film’s dynamic pacing.
Since it’s “based on a true story” (as the title insistently emphasizes), there’s limited potential for dramatic license with the available material. And while subject Jann Mardenborough has an inspiring backstory, the filmmakers don’t manage to wring much tension from a series of fairly predictable plot developments. But video game enthusiasts, including a sizable audience of Gran Turismo devotees and motorsports fans motivated...

“Gran Turismo” is a film of contradictions. On the one hand, it’s a video game movie while on the other it’s a true story about how a video game turned one of its players into a legitimate racecar driver. It’s a film aimed at fans of said video game, but not quite a feature built for the whole family. While it’s good in the moment, it’s doubtful you’ll must up much recognition of it within the next few months.
The film tells the story of Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe), a teenage boy trying to figure out his path in life. His father Steve (Djimon Hounsou), would love to see Jann go outside and experience life, but the young man would rather spend his day playing the racing game, Gran Turismo.
On the surface, Jann’s story has all the hallmarks of a typical formulaic family film.

“Gran Turismo” is a race-car movie that gives the audience a contact high. That’s what you tend to want from an action drama about gleaming supercars zooming around labyrinthine tracks at 300 kilometers per hour. But there’s an innocence to this one, and a surprise authenticity. It’s like a “Fast and Furious” movie made without cynicism, and it gets to you.
The film is based on a true story, which it sticks impressively close to. The central character, Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe), is a biracial kid from Cardiff who sits in his room playing Gran Turismo: a state-of-the-art training simulator that’s been marketed as a video game. At home, Jann can take any curve at maximum speed, passing competitors as if he were slicing through space. He’s a vicarious virtuoso. But he dreams of racing real cars, and one day, out of nowhere, the opportunity presents itself.

After taking on apartheid and economic inequality with “District 9” and “Elysium,” Neill Blomkamp was finally prepared to make a film about the world’s most oppressed social class: gamers.
Rather than a straight adaptation of the video game that shares its name, “Gran Turismo” is a celebration of the people who play it. It’s a pious ode to Sony’s wondrous PlayStation system (anyone with even the slightest grievances with “Air” or “Blackberry” should steer clear of this one), and a grating middle finger to anyone who dares suggest that the answers to a gamer’s problems might lie outside the “Call of Duty” lobby.
It’s also a thrilling retelling of one of the craziest stories in recent sports history, shot with the level of skillful spectacle that the source material demands. Blomkamp might have directed the best 90-minute sports movie of the decade — it’s just...

Sony kicked off CinemaCon’s four days of studio presentations with one hell of a mission statement: “We are not fucking around here,” Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Tom Rothman told a theater full of theater owners. Badass trailers for “The Equalizer 3” and “Kraven the Hunter,” as well as first footage from raunchy R-rated Jennifer Lawrence comedy “No Hard Feelings,” backed him up.
Rothman wasn’t the only one flying past PG-13 on Monday. Footage from the newest “Equalizer” and “Kraven,” which is Sony’s first R-rated Marvel film, brought the gore (and Aaron Taylor-Johnson got in early on the F-bomb train), and the J. Video Game movies have truly turned a corner over the last handful of years, but with "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" currently in the midst of a record-breaking run in theaters, the tide has truly turned in a big, bad way. Fortunately for Sony Pictures, they've got a big video game movie (sort of) on the way this summer in the form of "Gran Turismo," which takes its name from the beloved eponymous racing game series. The story is based on real events, however, which makes it more than just a run-of-the-mill video game adaptation. And during Sony's presentation in Las Vegas at CinemaCon tonight, the studio showcased new footage from the film.
