Fans were deeply disheartened after Heels season 3 was canceled by Starz Network. However, Netflix acquiring both seasons 1 and 2 of Heels became a ray of hope for both the fans and the show’s creators.
The show chronicles the story of twin brothers who are pro-wrestlers. It stars big television personalities like Arrow‘s Stephen Amell, Vikings star Alexander Ludwig, singer Alison Luff, and In Plain Sight actor Mary McCormack among others.

Heels Season 1 hit our screens for the first time in 2021. It chronicled the story of the Spade brothers – Jack and Ace portrayed by Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig, who are working to keep their father’s independent wrestling promotion afloat after his death. Vikings star Alexander Ludwig famously labeled his experience of filming Heels as “painful.”
Seasons 1 and 2 had a lot going for it.

Heels has nailed its landing after Starz canceled the series in 2023. Netflix and Lionsgate Worldwide Television Distribution Group have agreed to a licensing agreement for the two seasons of critically-acclaimed drama from Mike O’Malley.
Deadline has learned there is an option for a third season, but that all depends on the availability of stars Stephen Amell, who booked the lead role in the Suits spinoff, and Alexander Ludwig, who’s toplining Earth Abides for MGM+. A spokesman for Lionsgate declined to comment.
Heels revolves around the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals (Amell and Ludwig) war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those...

Certainly one definition of great music might include an ability to meet the present – and the future – head-on and come out unbruised, even triumphant. By that standard and many more, The Who’s Tommy, opening tonight on Broadway, is thrilling proof that the premiere concept album of 1969 is great music indeed.
Gloriously directed by Des McAnuff and updated by him and composer-lyricist Pete Townshend from their own 1993 original Broadway staging, The Who’s Tommy is a non-stop surge of electrified energy, a darting pinball of a production that syncs visual panache with 55-year-old songs that sound as vital today as they must have at Woodstock. Themes of enlightenment and connection, trauma and recovery, truth and lies and blinkered hero worship feel more relevant in the 21st Century than Townshend could possibly have imagined way back in the waning days of the ’60s.

Starz has axed three existing drama series and one upcoming project.
The network has binned Heels, Run The World and Blindspotting as well as not moving forward with The Venery of Samantha Bird.
Heels, Run The World and Blindspotting all aired two seasons and The Venery of Samantha Bird paused production in May due to the strikes with two episodes left to film.

Starz’s Heels spent season two building up the tension heading into a massive showdown between the Duffy Wrestling League (Dwl) and Florida Wrestling Dystopia (Fwd). The build-up pays off with season two episode eight – the season finale – and the arrival of “Harmageddon,” an epic event pitting the wrestling rivals against each other in the ring. The night was supposed to be a huge win for the Fwd; however, it didn’t go as scripted, and the result was season two ending on a huge cliffhanger.
Now the question is, will Starz renew the drama for a third season or leave fans hungering for answers? Season two’s ratings never reached season one levels, making it unlikely the show will return.

Starz’s Heels season two episode seven set up the huge showdown between the Duffy Wrestling League and Florida Wrestling Dystopia that will take place in episode eight, the season finale. Episode seven found the Fwd and the Dwl vying for the attention of a Continuum bigwig, with the Fwd getting the upper hand, at least for now. The season’s penultimate episode also saw the Duffy squad pulling together as a family.
And now, the recap:
Ace (Alexander Ludwig) is concentrating on getting his mind, body, and spirit in shape as episode seven begins. But as Ace improves himself, Willie (Mary McCormack) appears to be spiraling down, taking out her anger and frustration on her daughter and husband. She’s been staying late at the Dome every night, and her husband’s fed up with her behavior.

Starz’s Heels season two episode six opens with a brief rundown of what’s happening in the Fwd and Dwl. The wrap-up ends with Ace (Alexander Ludwig) working on a vision board while his mom (correctly) points out that he’s been acting weird recently.
Ace explains that he’s examined his life, and he’s decided he needs room to just reflect and think.
Jack (Stephen Amell), Staci (Alison Luff), and the newly enlightened Ace meet with Brooks Rizzo (Josh Segarra) to discuss his streaming service. After Jack thanks him for making the trek all the way to Duffy, Brooks confirms Continuum needs to grow its subscriber base in the lead-up to a merger with a larger company. Professional wrestling has a huge audience that Continuum would like to tap into.

Alexander Ludwig in ‘Heels’ season 2 episode 4 (Photo Credit: Starz)
Starz’s Heels season two episode four begins with a confirmation that Jack (Stephen Amell) and Staci (Alison Luff) aren’t just going through the paces, they are legitimately back together. Jack even asks for Staci’s opinion on what to do about the Gully situation, and she sides with Willie and Bill, believing Jack will have to make a deal. Or, maybe he can just apologize.
Jack and Staci’s houseguest, Ace (Alexander Ludwig), is totally confused about what to do next. He’s supposed to be long gone – off to bigger and better things – and yet here he is, back in Duffy. Jack reminds him he’s important to the Dwl and vows to work with him as equals. Ace is, understandably, skeptical and wants to put wrestling behind him. (Jack’s sympathetic to Ace’s needs…for once.

Before diving into a recap of Starz’s Heels season two episode two, let’s take a brief look at what went down in the season two premiere.
Season two episode one spent most of the hour with a flashback to the events immediately following Tom Spade’s suicide. Heels fans learned more about Jack and Ace’s relationship, and that Ace (Alexander Ludwig) finally convinced Jack (Stephen Amell) to allow him to enter the ring for the first time. Ace made his wrestling debut during a special one-night-only tribute to his father’s memory.
It turned out that Ace is a natural in the ring.
Episode one also briefly caught up with the celebration in the aftermath of the season one final’s championship match at the South Georgia State Fair that found Bunny transforming from valet to belt holder.

Sports dramas are familiar to the television landscape, and are often beloved. Fans have leaned into series like “Glow,” “All American,” and even the mid-2000s cult classic “Friday Night Lights.” Yet it’s not the competitive action that keeps audiences pulled in weekly, or amid hours-long binges: It’s the characters and the worlds carefully crafted around them.
It’s been nearly two years since the Season 1 finale of the Michael Waldron-created series “Heels” aired. Set in the fictional town of Duffy, Georgia, “Heels” follows brothers Jack (Stephen Amell) and Ace Spade (Alexander Ludwig), the stars of the Duffy Wrestling League (Dwl). The league and its dilapidated dome are the life’s work of the Spade brothers’ late father, Tom (David James Elliot). Jack has struggled to keep Tom’s fledgling dream and business alive in his absence.

If you thought the chances of the Duffy Wrestling League succeeding would increase on Heels Season 2, the latest trailer will probably dash those hopes.
Starz on Monday unveiled a new sneak peek at the next chapter of the Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig drama, and it teases lots of tension for everyone involved.
The premium cabler previously teased the second season with a trailer earlier this month, but the latest footage hints at plenty of big swings in the storytelling department.
Heels Season 1 was a big success story, and with fans waiting almost two years for fresh episodes, there are high expectations to deliver a satisfying follow-up season.
A small-town sports drama series based on a wrestling league in rural Georgia, Heels is aptly named after the wrestling term for a villain or antagonist.
"Most stories center around heroes vs. villains, but in wrestling, it's faces vs. heels," the logline teases.

The official trailer for “Heels” Season 2 is finally here, and it’s clear we’re in for an emotional ride.
The sophomore season, which premieres July 28 on Starz, picks up after Jack Spade (Stephen Amell) has been through the ringer in his personal life after parting ways with his family. Meanwhile, his brother, Ace (Alexander Ludwig), is nowhere to be found.
“Who am I? A man who’s wife and son have left him and doesn’t know where is brother is,” Spade says in the trailer. “I don’t know what I have to do to find the guy that I was before, [but] I’m gonna figure it out.”
While Jack — and fans of the family-owned wrestling organization — question how to move forward without his brother at his side, Jack leans on his Duffy Wrestling League (Dwl) family as the group battles outside threats and Jack steps back into the ring.

Chicago – The Opening Night ovation certainly acknowledged that the audience “Saw, Felt, was Touched and Healed” by the passionate and celebratory performance of “The Who’s Tommy.” Adapted from the iconic rock opera created by The Who in 1969, the Goodman Theater revival … with 1990s origins … was written by Pete Townsend and Des McAnuff (also director).
The adaptation was maniacally choreographed and thoughtfully presented, with an amazing looking stage design, and lead actor Ali Louis Bourzgui delivered a heroic rendering of the conflicted title boy who turns off his life, only to revive it through a literal breakthrough. The Goodman Theatre run, which will go to Broadway, has been extended to August 6th, 2023. For ticket info and more, click Tommy.
Play Rating: 4.5/5.0
The story is rooted in the British World War II, as Tommy’s eventual father Captain Walker (Adam Jacobs) meets and marries his mother (Allison Luff) during the conflict, but is captured by the Germans.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details of the literal s***show of tonight’s Heels Season 1 finale.
In the end, the battle in the State Fair ring between feuding brothers Jack Spade and Ace Spade saw neither holding the coveted belt in the Season 1 finale of Heels.
With a sh*t-stained Wild Bill Hancock (Chris Bauer) taking down the crazed wrestling league rival Charlie Gully, the Stephen Amell- and Alexander Ludwig-portrayed heel and face of the Duffy Wrestling League were on their asses in the ring as former valet Crystal (Keli Berglund) tossed the script, won the match, won over the crowd and claimed the ladder to take the belt in front of thousands of Peach State fans.
It was a fitting end for the Michael Waldron-created and Mike O’Malley-showrun series that has yet to receive an official Season 2 renewal from Starz. Even more so perhaps...

Spoiler Alert: Do not keep reading if you have not seen the Season 1 finale of “Heels,” titled “Double Turn”
The Starz pro wrestling drama “Heels” wrapped up its first season in spectacular fashion, with an ending worthy of a WrestleMania main event.
But before we get to that…
The episode picks up right where the previous episode left off, with Jack (Stephen Amell) standing over Charlie Gully (Mike O’Malley) in the Florida Wrestling Dystopia ring. Jack and Ace (Alexander Ludwig) lock eyes before Gully orders his goons to attack. Jack and Ace fight their way outside and make their escape. In the car, Ace berates Jack for not listening to him and again expresses his desire to turn face. Jack explains that Ace will be a face when he wins the Dwl championship at the South Georgia State Fair in the match against both Jack and Wild Bill (Chris Bauer).
