The mad lads (and ladies) at New Blood Interactive and developer David Szymanski have unleashed their full visual remaster of Dusk with Dusk HD, which is now available as a free and optional download for Steam owners of the game. Along with the remaster, the Software Development Kit for the original version of Dusk has also been made available, with the Dusk HD version coming “Soon”.
In a new Steam page update, the team acknowledges that it’s been “five long years” since Dusk v1.0 hit the platform, and that they’ve always promised to make Dusk “as open and moddable for you as we possibly can.” With that said, the road to remastering Dusk with remade enemies, weapons, models and textures wasn’t easy, having spent the last few months rewriting the code and working overtime on Dusk HD “to make sure it’s as legitimate and cohesive and possible.

New Blood Interactive and developer David Szymanski have decided to finally treat PlayStation 4 owners today with the announcement that their acclaimed throwback Fps Dusk is finally available on Sony’s last-gen console via the PlayStation Store. The game is also playable on the PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility.
While the store listing doesn’t state it, it’s safe to assume that the PlayStation version of Dusk will include the quality of life improvements that were added to the Switch version of the game. These improvement were carried over to the PC version in a later update.
Speaking of the PC version, New Blood Interactive has decided to go against Dusk‘s original throwback aesthetic in a recent announcement for Dusk HD, a completely optional and free “full visual remaster” of Dusk. The update will sport remade enemies, weapons, models and textures, and is expected to arrive around December with the Sdk.

Sorry, gamers, but Markiplier does not have a secret cameo in "Five Nights at Freddy's." Mark "Markiplier" Fischbach is colloquially known as the "King of 'FNaF'" for his role in helping spread the indie video game to the masses, and many speculated that he would appear in the live-action adaptation. Unfortunately, that's not happening, as confirmed by the King himself.
In a new video published to his YouTube channel, Fischbach confirmed that the lack of his presence was nothing more than a scheduling conflict. "It was supposed to happen," he said. "There was a time it was supposed to occur, and unfortunately the 'Five Nights at Freddy's' movie and my movie, 'Iron Lung,' were being filmed at the exact same time," he said. "It was nothing more than it just so happened to be a conflict of schedule." He said that the plan was that he'd be there for two days of shooting,...

First, there was Dusk. And it was good. Then developer David Szymanski gave us Iron Lung. It too was good. Now Szymanski is back with another first-person horror game. Inspired by Manhunt and Condemned: Criminal Origins, Butcher’s Creek is currently slated for a 2024 release on Steam.
Butcher’s Creek takes place in November of 1993, where you, a troubled loner looking to get your fix for cinematic gore, finds themselves travelling to an abandoned cabin near Butcher’s Creek, Pennsylvania, based on the rumour of authentic snuff films. Unfortunately for you, that rumour is turned on its head, as you end up captured by a gang of sadistic killers. Now your only option is to fight your way out using whatever tools are available.
Those “tools” echo what you’d find in Butcher’s Creek‘s inspirations. Hammers, wrenches, axes, pipes, 2x4s, box cutters, and more are at your...

San Francisco, June 22 (Ians) As the search for a missing OceanGate submarine intensifies, an indie game called Iron Lung which is a short tale of piloting a tiny submarine with rudimentary tech through an ocean of blood on an alien moon, has seen a spike in sales.
The indie game developer David Szymanski said that the game was seeing a spike in sales and popularity on his personal Twitter.
“This feels so wrong,” he posted on Twitter, along with a graph of the sales that went up after the tourist submarine went missing with five people on board during an expedition to the Titanic’s wreckage in the North Atlantic last Sunday.
The game is also being bombarded with positive reviews, one of which reads: “Retroactively based on a true story.”

It used to be that video game adaptations were limited to big budget franchises, with household names like Super Mario Bros. and Mortal Kombat getting blockbuster movies while more niche experiences like Dino Crisis and System Shock were mostly ignored by non-gamer audiences. Not only that, but corporate expectations and bloated production budgets meant that these big screen adaptations would often misunderstand what made these franchises popular in the first place.
Fortunately, it seems that the days of the “video game curse” are far behind us. Not only are recognizable franchises like Five Nights at Freddy’s receiving long-awaited adaptations, but even indie experiments like David Szymanski’s Iron Lung are being adapted into feature length horror movies (with this one in particular being written and directed by none other than Markiplier). And with the indie gaming scene going through a creative revolution, we thought that this might be the...

I am alone in the house. But I know she’s upstairs listening. If I keep the cartoons loud enough maybe she won’t hear me put on my Batman slippers. I shuffle softly to the door and pull it open just enough to squeeze through into the hall. There’s the front door. The bunch of keys on the mat where my mum posted them through the letterbox. Will I be able to find the right key in time? I look up and Jesmar is there, standing at the top of the stairs, with her patchwork playsuit, placid smile and straw-coloured fringe. The air is electric and I can hear a terrible moaning. I need to run but suddenly I’m swimming through concrete. Where is the key –
“Sir?” There is a light on my face. “Sir! Are you alright?” The air hostess is standing over me. The moaning is very loud now.

Immediately upon loading Chop Goblins, the latest game from Dusk developer David Szymanski, you’re greeted with title screen music that sounds like a dark carnival crossed with a Saturday morning cartoon, perfectly setting the stage for the wackiness you’re about to experience. Over the next five levels, you’ll chase the titular creatures as they cause mischief throughout the time stream, which is exactly as much of a delight as it sounds. Szymanski pitches this game as a microshooter, meant to be played in a single sitting, which is a surprisingly refreshing pitch in a market that seems to favor 50 hour open-world epics.
The story in the game is all delivered via level intro screens, but they go a long way in establishing exactly what you’re getting into. You’re told that you broke into a museum and opened a dusty old box in the basement and inadvertently released the Chop Goblins,...

Horror games come in so many (usually unnerving) shapes and forms. However, you’re not alone if you feel that there’s just something special about the best sci-fi horror games.
Actually, some of the earliest true horror games were sci-fi horror games. Right from the start, developers knew that are few things scarier than being thrown into an unknown time and unknown place while relying on unknown tools to battle unknown horrors. Of course, the best sci-fi horror games often find ways to exemplify the best of both genres.
Before we dive into all of that, though, take a look at some of the rules and criteria used to assemble this list:
This list is based on a pretty traditional definition of science fiction. Games that emphasize advanced scientific concepts typical of the genre were generally considered to be eligible. Zombie games were not considered eligible for this list...

In case you haven’t checked out New Blood Interactive’s Gloomwood, it’s pretty good. Scratch that, it’s really good. So good in fact, that the game’s launch a few weeks ago has quickly become New Blood Interactive’s best ever.
New Blood Interactive took to the Steam page for Gloomwood with the announcement, saying that since the game’s launch in Early Access, Gloomwood‘s sales have eclipsed the launches of Dusk, Amid Evil, “and even the mighty Ultrakill.” Heck, even Aaron touts Gloomwood as the makings of a Stealth Horror classic.
New Blood Interactive and developers Dillon Rogers & David Szymanski aren’t sitting back, mind you. They’ve been gathering feedback from the game’s launch over the past few weeks, and are already working on adding more content. In fact, the most recent update to the game has tweaked the game’s Blood Moon difficulty,...
