La-Rel Easter (he/him) is a filmmaker hailing from North Carolina, seeking to craft impactful work and help those interested in film learn how to leverage the art.
While he considers himself to be a narrative writer-director, his portfolio also includes several works in the vein of documentary and experimental filmmaking. La-Rel's most recent films reflect a growing meditation on issues of race and social identity in America as a multiracial man living between labels.
La-Rel earned his Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies ('14) and Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking ('23) degrees from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, making him a "two-time Seahawk". He also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant while completing UNCW Film Studies' MFA program.
