The annual showcase Spotify House will return to the Ole Red honky-tonk in Nashville for CMA Fest 2024. Marking its fifth year, the event will pack dozens of performances into its schedule across three days from Thursday, June 6, through Saturday, June 8. This year’s lineup includes appearances from Luke Bryan, Lady A, Cole Swindell, Brett Young, and other well-known stars, but it’s the focus on up-and-coming breakouts like Wyatt Flores, Dylan Gossett, and “Austin” singer Dasha that give this year’s lineup its fresh edge.

The country music world shared the stage at the 2024 ACM Awards, where Post Malone performed songs from his upcoming country album, Dua Lipa joined Chris Stapleton for a duet, and Avril Lavigne and Noah Kahan partnered with country musicians onstage.
It almost felt like Beyoncé — who recently made history on the country charts with Cowboy Country — might pop up. She didn’t Thursday night, but host Reba McEntire did reference Queen Bey’s historic project during her opening monologue.
“We’re here to talk about country music and how everyone is invited and welcome here at country music’s party of the year. From Mother Maybelle to Cowboy Carter, country music is so big in 2024 that there’s room for everybody,” she said. “We all love country [music] and we all are country, and we’re keeping the circle unbroken, but growing it to even bigger and better.”

Noah Kahan and Kelsea Ballerini gave a two-song duet at the 2024 ACM Awards.
The pair opened with “Mountain With a View,” a song off Ballerini’s ACM Album of the Year nominee Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good), before segueing into the title track of Kahan’s breakthrough album Stick Season. Ballerini took the stage solo, singing from a couch before Kahan launched into his megahit amidst tall grass. The pair ended up mashing up their two tracks before Ballerini joined Kahan in singing the catchy, inescapable chorus of “Stick Season.

Chris Stapleton took the stage during his recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show for a special performance of “Loving You on My Mind.” The song, which appears on the musician’s latest studio album, Higher, was elevated to the next level as Stapleton was joined by Hudson herself and the country duo the War and Treaty.
Stapleton kicked off the song with the War and Treaty, singing alongside his band. About halfway through, following one of the singer’s soulful guitar solos, Hudson emerged from side stage to bring the performance home.

The Academy of Country Music Awards show set for May 16 is getting some additional octane in its performance lineup with the addition of two of the biggest artists of the moment from outside the country genre, Post Malone and Noah Kahan.
Malone looks set for a solo moment on the ACM Awards show, while Kahan will join female artist of the year nominee Kelsea Ballerini for a duet.
Even without a new album out, Malone has been ubiquitous lately, in pop and even country. He has appeared as a featured performer in the last three months with arguably the three biggest acts in the music business right now: Beyonce (on her country-driven album “Cowboy Carter”), Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen (on the just-released joint single “I Had Some Help”). American Idol judge Katy Perry recently slammed fellow judge Luke Bryan over his comments to a contestant. What did Bryan say that got under Katy’s skin?
American Idol: More Hopefuls Sent Home
As veteran American Idol fans know, no matter how much viewers love certain contestants, there can only be one winner when it’s all said and done. Unfortunately, that means, every week, more fan-favorites will be packing their bags and going home.
This is especially true as this season of American Idol is getting down to the nitty-gritty. In the most recent episode alone, more singers were cut from the competition. When it gets to this stage, the slightest mistake can be the difference between going home or sticking around. So, the margin for error is non-existent.

Kelsea Ballerini has filed for a temporary restraining order against a fan who allegedly disseminated music that wasn’t finished without permission.
The “Penthouse” singer has asked for the Tro against Bo Ewing, whom Ballerini claims “without authority or approval, surreptitiously gained access to, copied and disseminated still-in-production, unreleased masters and demos” of her music.

According to documents obtained by People, the music was described as “still-in-production, unreleased masters and demos.”
Bo was accused of accessing the music by “gaining back-door access to the device of either, or both, of Ms. Ballerini or [Alysa Vanderheym, a producer that Kelsea was working with].”
Kelsea‘s team argued that the music spreading further could cause “continued, irreparable harm.”
“Protection of an artist’s music is of the upmost importance,” a representative for Kelsea told the outlet. “Artists spend countless hours perfecting their craft and telling their stories through their music.

Kelsea Ballerini is living her best life. In 2024, the 30-year-old country singer celebrated a Best Country Album Grammy nomination and a solo hosting gig for the CMT Awards. She released a highly praised album, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, about healing from divorce and hit her stride in her love life. Luke Combs is the man of the hour. The 59th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, April 9, and Combs came out on top with eight bids, including Entertainer of the Year. Check out the complete list of nominations here.
This is Combs’s fifth nomination in a row for Entertainer of the Year, an award he has yet to win. This year he’s up against Kane Brown, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen and lone female nominee Lainey Wilson. Women are consistently underrepresented in Entertainer of the Year, though Carrie Underwood won in 2020 (in a tie with Thomas Rhett) and Miranda Lambert finally prevailed in 2022. But we mustn’t underestimate Wilson here. She pulled off a huge upset at the CMA Awards last fall, claiming Entertainer of the Year despite being relatively new on the scene.

As Willie Nelson once sang, there’s no place but Texas — and some of country music’s hallmark awards shows seem to agree. In the past two years, two big-budget ceremonies have been staged not in Nashville but in the Lone Star State.
