Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about The Good Doctor Episode 710, “Goodbye”
ABC’s The Good Doctor ended its seven-season run tonight with Part 2 of its two-hour finale which, like many episodes of the medical drama, mixed tragedy and triumph to close out Shaun Murphy’s journey on a hopeful note.
The closer dealt with the aftermath of the two shocking Part 1 cliffhangers: Glassman (Richard Schiff) telling Shaun (Freddie Highmore) that his cancer had returned and it was terminal, and Claire (Antonia Thomas) collapsing in Kalu’s arms. They set Shaun on a race to help two of the most important people in his life who are both in grave danger.
He eventually does his thing and finds a treatment that could add a year to Glassman’s life but no matter how many times he pitches it, progressively mitigating potential risks and side effects, he is turned down by...

When co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman learned The Good Doctor would end with its current and seventh season, they “laid down on the floor and contemplated that for its truth, then pretty quickly had an idea of where we wanted to go with that final season,” Friedman reveals, before adding, “but this is definitely bittersweet… I could have continued to tell stories for Shaun [Murphy], and Freddie [Highmore] forever.” In the penultimate episode, there was plenty of sweetness for the show’s doctors: There was a wonderful impromptu 2 a.m. wedding for Morgan (Fiona Gubelmann) and Park (Will Yun Lee); the return of original character Claire (Antonia Thomas) and her romantic reunion with Kalu (Chuku Modu); and Shaun, with the help of his wife Lea (Paige Spara) explaining to young addict Hannah how Dr. Glassman (Richard Schiff) can help her the way he helped Shaun, his “nonbiological son.” Finally, there was Glassman quietly telling Shaun,...

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about The Good Doctor Episode 709, “Unconditional.”
It’s the beginning of the end as ABC’s The Good Doctor tonight kicked off its two-part series finale. The first hour had hallmarks of a happy series closer — a wedding and a fan-favorite couple rekindling their romance after years apart — before the episode took a double dark turn at the end.
Things got off to a great start when Claire Browne (returning original cast member Antonia Thomas) reunited with Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) as she came by to get a lump in her breast checked out. It had been ruled benign in Guatemala where she heads surgery but it turned out to be cancerous. A surgery to remove it led by Claire’s ex Jared Kalu (Chuku Modu) and Shaun was initially unsuccessful but a followup did the trick, and Claire was on her way to...

We knew it was coming, but it didn’t make it any less difficult.
The Good Doctor Season 7, Episode 6, found the St. Bonaventure staff reacting to and processing Dr. Asher Wolke’s (Noah Galvin) death.
As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Asher was brutally killed off in an antisemitic, anti-lgbtq+ attack while confronting a group of people destroying a synagogue.
The cliffhanger left Asher out cold, and Tuesday’s new episode picked up with the beloved character’s funeral.
In one of the series’ most heartbreaking moments, Asher’s friend Jordan (Bria Samone Henderson) gave the eulogy and opened up about how they became friends despite coming from very different worlds.
“I’m a devout Christian from Oakland, and he was an orthodox Jew-turned-atheist from Brooklyn,” she began.
Asher’s closest friend delivered a heartbreaking eulogy
“But when we met at St. Bons, he became my closest friend.”

The Good Doctor cast is scrubbing out for good.
As Monsters and Critics previously reported, The Good Doctor is ending after a truncated seventh season of just 10 episodes.
Details are scarce about what’s on tap for the last five episodes, but we know they’ll pick up in the immediate aftermath of Asher Wolke’s murder.
However, many of the show’s cast members took to social media over the weekend to reveal that filming of the medical drama was wrapping up.
Given that we have just a handful of episodes left, we knew it was coming, but it doesn’t make it any less difficult.
The Good Doctor has had many questionable plots throughout its time on the air, but fans still tune in to watch the hit drama.

The revolving door at The Good Doctor continues to spin in its final season.
Original star Antonia Thomas has closed a deal to return as Dr. Claire Brown.
The deal is for two episodes, including the hit medical drama’s series finale.
Thomas was an original star but left as a series regular following The Good Doctor Season 4 and has returned for guest spots since.
It’s always nice when former stars return to give long-running shows a sendoff, and The Good Doctor hasn’t been the same since Thomas’ big exit.
Sadly, the once-hot series quickly lost too many cast members, and the show struggled to bounce back creatively.
It’s probably a big reason viewers started tuning out, which triggered ABC’s decision to cancel the show with its seventh season.

Dr. Marcus Andrews hasn’t just forfeit his job as president of St. Bonaventure Hospital on ABC’s The Good Doctor. He’s left San Jose behind entirely.
As TVLine was first to report, original cast member (and U.S. Senate hopeful) Hill Harper exited the medical drama ahead of its seventh and final season. He was one of four remaining series regulars from The Good Doctor Season 1, including leading man Freddie Highmore (who stars as Dr. Shaun Murphy), Richard Schiff (who plays Shaun’s surrogate father, Dr. Aaron Glassman) and Chuku Modu (who reprised his role as Dr. Jared...

Hill Harper’s exit from The Good Doctor was addressed in the Season 7 premiere of the ABC medical drama.
Harper has been a main cast member since the show’s debut in 2017, playing the role of Dr. Marcus Andrews. The Season 6 finale of the series set up Harper’s departure after Dr. Andrews resigned as president.
In a scene from the first episode of the final season, Dr. Andrews’ whereabouts were noted in a moment between Elfina Luk’s Nurse Dalisay Villanueva and Christina Chang’s Dr. Audrey Lim.
“Marcus sends greetings from Spain,” Villanueva tells Dr. Lim.
“Oh! I thought he was at a meditation retreat in Vietnam,” Dr. Lim adds.
Villanueva responds, “He was and now he’s walking the Camino de Santiago.”
Watch the scene in the video posted below.
Harper announced last year he was making a run for a U.S. Senate seat in the state of Michigan.

Six settlers arrive in a Scottish forest 45,000 years ago, where ‘bloodthirsty things’ await but bathos fails to arrive
‘Forty-five thousand years ago …” So begins this ambitious, confident feature debut from Scottish director Andrew Cumming. It’s a horror movie set in the stone age where a poor old early human is yomping about the Highlands in winter; no Gore-Tex or warm pub, just a tough bit of elk meat to chew on and the odd run-in with a hairy Neanderthal. What a god-awfully grim time to be alive – even before things go bump in the night.
The premise is simple: this movie is “Alien in the stone age”. It begins with six intrepid early humans washing up on a Highlands beach, all of them quickly and efficiently sketched out as characters. Adem (Chuku Modu) is in charge and evidently sees himself as a mighty leader of men. He’s travelling...

This time last year, The Good Doctor was set to continue and was even preparing a spinoff.
However, that all changed earlier this year when ABC decided to end the show after seven seasons.
Even worse?
We’re getting a truncated 10-episode season.
The Good Doctor EP David Shore opened up about the decision to end the series over the weekend during ABC’s portion of the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
While many believed the cancellation came too late in the game to craft a proper conclusion, Shore said the show is lucky enough “to plan the ending we want to do,” according to Deadline.
The Good Doctor is ending with fewer episodes than planned
Shore’s only issue with the series ending this season is that the show was initially expected to have 13 episodes.

Between apocalyptic disaster films and cosmic terrors à la Lovecraft, the horror genre has the theoretical end of humanity pretty well covered. But what about its beginning?
In Andrew Cumming’s magnificent directorial debut “Out of Darkness,” the filmmaker reverses at full speed into the unknown with an imaginative and gruesome wilderness thriller tracking a group of nomads living 45,000 years ago. Part prehistoric “Prey,” part agnostic spin on The Book of Genesis, the film was written by Ruth Greenberg, and premiered under the more sci-fi sounding title “The Origin” at the BFI Film Festival in 2022. The moniker change is just the latest in a line of nuanced creative decisions that makes this ferocious 87-minute monster movie a testament to meticulous storytelling: a scrupulous feat made even more effective by the film’s use of Stone Age brutality and stark narrative simplicity.

If there’s one word that summarizes the main focus of early man’s life, it’s undoubtedly “survive”. In the gripping Cro-Magnon monster movie Out Of Darkness, directed by Andrew Cumming and penned by Ruth Greenberg, viewers are transported back to a time when humanity was in its infancy, 45,000 years ago. The film boasts a talented ensemble, including Safia Oakley-Green, Kit Young, Chuku Modu, Iola Evans, Arno Lüning, and Luna Mwezi, who find themselves on the brink of existence in a world where every day is a fight for survival.
The storyline unfolds as a small band of early humans arrive on the edge of a stark and unwelcoming land, their journey across a treacherous sea driven by the desperate need for a new beginning. Starvation nips at their heels as they traverse the cold, unforgiving tundra, aiming for the mountains that loom in the distance, hopeful of finding...

A unique Stone Age horror movie, Out of Darkness – previously titled The Origin – is now playing in theaters courtesy of Bleecker Street, and we’ve got an exclusive clip for ya today.
In this clip, the characters come across the disemboweled carcass of a woolly mammoth, which raises one terrifying question: what the hell is capable of killing such a massive beast?
Watch the clip below and find the trailer for Out of Darkness underneath.
We’ve been told, “It’s a tense, emotional, and incredibly crafted film; so much creativity went into making the paleolithic world – including the entire language spoken in the film, which was created specifically for this by a linguist and an archaeologist.”
In the film, “A small boat reaches the shores of a raw and desolate landscape. A group of six have struggled across the narrow sea to find a new home. They are starving,...

Beginning with a rip-off of the (depending on who you ask) iconic Scott Free Productions logo––albeit with a rabbit instead of bird––I knew I was in for something deeply derivative with Out of Darkness. And perhaps that technically proficient-if-soulless feel that defines many of one Scott brother is what particularly shapes this new horror picture. It’s essentially a prehistoric slasher, the film’s opening taking place around a spooky campfire tale that, for one, makes clear its lineage back to the original Friday the 13th. Yet the stock butchered teenagers of that franchise were honestly preferable company to the muddy, grunting Before Common Era folk we’re stuck with.
Certainly there’s a heavier pall over this group, like pregnancy and the lineage, as we follow the family unit of leader Adem (Chuku Modu), doted-over son Heron (Luna Mwezi), and the bun-in-the-oven Ave (Iola Evans). Accompanying them...

I can almost imagine Out of Darkness’ director Andrew Cumming pitching the film to potential backers as Quest for Fire meets Predator. And that would be a fairly accurate description of this Stone Age thriller about a tribe of early humans being picked off by an unseen foe. And one that makes it sound a lot less cerebral and more commercial than it might otherwise appear.
45,000 years ago, six early humans have left their tribe to find a new home. Leading the group is Adem, who also has his young son Heron and Ave who’s carrying Adem’s child along with him. Also making the trek are Geirr, Adem’s more cautious second-in-command and Odal’s who seems to be some kind of shaman and last, and certainly least,...

Movies about Stone Age life have been so few that just one past effort could be taken seriously, the rest being funny — intentionally or otherwise. Belatedly offering non-laughable companionship to Jean-Jacques Annaud’s 1981 “Quest for Fire” is “Out of Darkness,” a lean, mean adventure story on the cusp of horror that firsttime feature director Andrew Cumming imbues with tension and handsome visual atmospherics.
Titled “The Origin” when it premiered at BFI London Fest in fall 2022, since retitled (presumably to avoid confusion with Ava DuVernay’s current “Origin”), it’s a strong genre piece lent real novelty by being set approximately 45,000 years ago. Bleecker Street opens the U.K. indie production on more than 500 U.S. screens this Friday, simultaneous with a home-turf release.

"Danger is everywhere." Signature Entertainment in the UK has unveiled their own official UK trailer for the survival thriller titled Out of Darkness, set during the Old Stone Age, some 45,000 years ago. It's opening in theaters nationwide (in the US) this week, in the UK later in Feb. This originally premiered at the 2022 London Film Festival a year ago, as it's a British production, and it's finally getting released this year. In the Stone Age, a disparate gang of early humans band together in search of a new land. As night falls, ominous sounds shatter the idea they are alone. Fear grips the group, relationships unravel, trust fractures, and the relentless pursuit of survival unveils dark secrets. When they suspect a malevolent, mystical, being is hunting them down, the clan are forced to confront a danger they have never envisaged. The cast is lead by Safia Oakley-Green as Beyah, Chuku Modu as Adem,...

The elemental tale of man versus nature is one that we’ve been telling since the days of cave paintings. The tale of man versus a big, scary creature has been one of that tradition’s most reliably entertaining iterations since the dawn of Hollywood, and Andrew Cumming’s Stone Age thriller Out of Darkness makes for a worthy addition.
The film is set 45,000 years ago. After making a daring journey across the sea, a small band of Stone Agers have arrived in an unfamiliar place that they hope to call home. Sadly, this place isn’t the land of milk, honey, and warm, cozy caves that they’d been dreaming of. Rather, it’s a gray and barren place where rough, rocky hills seem to roll out endlessly in all directions. It makes for a dispiriting landscape during the day, and it’s even worse when darkness falls and...

Medical drama The Good Doctor will end after the upcoming seventh series, it’s been revealed. Details here.
Freddie Highmore is one of a select few who was able to successfully go from fresh-faced child star, where he headlined Tim Burton’s Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, the underrated August Rush and The Spiderwick Chronicles, to a prolific acting career as an adult. The role that really put Highmore into the big leagues was playing Norman Bates, the younger version of Anthony Perkins’ character from Psycho, in five seasons of Bates Motel.
Immediately following the ending of the show, Highmore moved on to arguably his greatest performance as autistic surgical resident Shaun Murphy in The Good Doctor. Based on a Korean show, writer David Shore developed and adapted it into the English language version, on which he acts as showrunner alongside Liz Friedman.

Chuku Modu‘s Dr. Jared Kalu will return in The Good Doctor Season 7. The ABC medical drama is bringing actor Modu back as a series regular for the new season, according to TV Line. The Good Doctor Season 7 premieres on Tuesday, February 20 at 10/9c on ABC. Modu’s Jared was part of The Good Doctor Season 1 cast. He worked under Dr. Neil Melendez (Nicholas Edward Gonzalez), who died in an earthquake in the Season 3 finale. Jared briefly dated Dr. Claire Brown (Antonia Thomas) in Season 1 and was written out after the Season 2 premiere. Jared was fired for physically assaulting Dr. Matt Coyle (Eric Winter), who had harassed Claire, but the character returned in The Good Doctor Season 6, appearing in seven episodes. Modu’s return comes after Hill Harper‘s exit from the series. The actor, who plays Dr. Marcus Andrews, has left the show to run for the United States Senate.

Set during the Stone Age, the horror film “Out of Darkness” brings a modern twist to the survival story.
The film, which marks both director Andrew Cumming and screenwriter Ruth Greenberg’s respective feature debuts, centers on a teenager (Safia Oakley-Green) who must survive immigrating across the sea and into a foreign land that may or may not house monsters.
The official synopsis for the indie horror film reads: “A group of six have struggled across the narrow sea to find a new home. They are starving, desperate, and living 45,000 years ago. First they must find shelter, and they strike out across the tundra wastes towards the distant mountains that promise the abundant caves they need to survive. But when night falls, anticipation turns to fear and doubt as they realize they are not alone. Terrifying sounds suggest something monstrous at large in this landscape, something that could kill or steal them away.
