Exclusive: Broadway’s Felicia Boswell (Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert) will be making her West End debut this July when she takes over from Beverley Knight (Bodyguard Musical), the chart-topping Queen of British Soul, in the enormously enjoyable hit show The Drifters Girl, which has been running at The Garrick Theatre since last November.
Knight departs The Drifters Girl on July 2 and Boswell joins the production three days later on July 5 to portray Faye Treadwell, the pioneering manager who took over control of the legendary soul quartet after the death of the group’s manager, her husband George Treadwell, in 1967.
Boswell will perform with a quartet of local stars: Tosh Wanogho-Maud (Dreamgirls); Adam J. Bernard, who won an Olivier Award for his James ‘Thunder’ Early in Dreamgirls; Tarinn Callender (Hamilton); and Matt Henry, winner of a best musical actor Olivier Award for his performance in Kinky Boots. "Don't flinch." 1091 Pictures has released a trailer for an indie crime thriller titled Blonde. Purple, from English filmmaker Marcus Flemmings. This film is launching on VOD at the end of November if anyone is interested in watching. The story is about an inexperienced criminal who is stuck inside a bank with a teenage hostage after a heist goes wrong. How will he get out? The film follows his journey to escape, while also taking us back to show how he got into this situation to begin with. Starring Julian Moore-Cook, Ellie Bindman, Adam J. Bernard, Jennifer Lee Moon, and Jessica Murrain. This is a much better trailer than I was expecting, by all means, and the film doesn't look bad either. I dig the colorful title cards and introduction, along with all the style and characters. Might actually be an indie surprise? Worth a look. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Marcus Flemmings' Blonde.

Director Luke Tedder has been a very busy man the last few years, pumping out short films at a rate of three or four a year and now he and the creative team at Landa Pictures are venturing into new territory: feature films and their first, a sci-fi thriller titled App for Life, shows promise.
Written and directed by Tedder, the movie imagines a future where tech implants are commonplace. Adam J. Bernard stars as James, a man who seems to be having trouble adjusting to life with an implant – a life where it's impossible to lie, where anyone with an implant can know more about you in a single second than some couples learn about each other over months of taditional dating and where simple conversation seems to have disappeared all together.
