Rumor has it that Netflix was originally planning to release the sixth and final season of their hit series Cobra Kai, a continuation of the Karate Kid film franchise, this month. The cast and crew were heading into production back in May (Netflix even released some table read footage) – but then the writers strike hit, causing filming to shut down. Then came the actors strike, which made sure it stayed shut down a while longer. But both of those strikes are now over, and cast member Courtney Henggeler has revealed that Cobra Kai season 6 is finally going to start filming / resume production next month!
The folks at Screen Rant took the opportunity to ask Henggeler about Cobra Kai when they crossed paths with her at a red carpet event. When they asked for info on what fans can expect from the new season, Henggeler answered, “I wish I knew. I...

This article contains spoilers for all of Dexter.
Sometimes it’s hard to casually enjoy a television show or movie when there is so much critical analysis and even baggage attached to it. We want to go into something with a clean slate, a fresh canvas to which we can paint our own opinions without the influence of others. There’s perhaps no greater example of this than the final season of the megahit Showtime series Dexter.
Running from 2006 to 2013, this Michael C. Hall vehicle went toe to toe with other prestige dramas of the era like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, and more and still carved out a deservedly large audience. Dexter Morgan was an antihero unlike any of the others, a serial killer who was actually highly relatable as a father, a husband, and human being who desperately wanted to fit in with society much more than he had ever originally imagined.

Before shooting began on Bong Joon Ho’s Oscar-winning Parasite, the film’s production crew had trouble finding one of the film’s crucial locations: the luxurious home of the wealthy Park family. The chances of finding the right house were slim, but the chances of finding a two-story house with an ideal setting was even slimmer. As a result, the film’s art team created a set — a one-story house that would become the Park’s mansion and the film’s main setting.
Later, artists at Dexter Studios, a Seoul-based visual effects studio, added a second floor to the house using computer graphics based on its blueprints, complete with a staircase and a garden that was digitally created. The streets nearby also were made in 3D and digitally merged with the film. During the four months of preproduction, more than 200 artists at Dexter worked on the project and roughly...

Showtime has given the last word on The L Word: Generation Q, canceling the drama after three seasons. According to Deadline, Showtime declined to renew the show but is developing another offshoot of the franchise, tentatively titled The L Word: New York, with the help of co-creator Ilene Chaiken. The cancellation isn’t a total surprise: As Deadline notes, Showtime hasn’t renewed a single series since the announcement this January that Showtime would rebrand as Paramount+ with Showtime as part of an integration with the Paramount+ streaming service. Showtime previously canceled Let The Right One In and American Gigolo, while the upcoming series Three Women and Ripley moved to other outlets. Kharen Hill/Showtime Chris McCarthy, the CEO of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks, name-dropped the L Word franchise in December when he announced his plan “to lean into Showtime’s strengths” and cited three key areas for the...

Dexter: Origins is set to take us into the past to get a look at the early years of Dexter Morgan before the events of the original show, which will see him first join the Miami Police Department and take out his first victims. With Michael C. Hall now in his 50s, it is unlikely that we will see him reprise his role as the sadistic serial killer, although at least not on screen as Dexter. With Hall likely not appearing on screen in the upcoming show, is there an actor out there with the ability to take on such...

So sorry we're a little late with the review. The norm has always been that shows that drop online on Fridays and air on linear two days later were saved for that later date.
Apparently, the rules have changed, and we are changing with them.
Yellowjackets Season 2 Episode 1 dropped us right back in the thick of it, and we're excited to talk about it! Needless to say, if you have not watched it yet, come back when you have!
By this point in the story, the true horror of what the girls suffered while out in the woods begins to reveal itself.
Their bodies were craving normalcy as much as they were craving food, and what they suffered there, they carried back with them to civilization.
Long winter days in the woods almost seemed normal, with a warm fire and cups of tea on the ready. More substantial nourishment, though,...

However, the franchise may continue on the network — The L Word: New York (working title), a reboot of the groundbreaking original series, is in development with the 2004 series’ creator Ilene Chaiken expected to be involved in some capacity, I hear.

Following the success of Dexter: New Blood and the renewed interest in the franchise, the writers of the show have been hard at work creating numerous Dexter spin-offs. These shows include season 2 of Dexter: New Blood which will focus on Harrison (Jack Alcott) following the death of Dexter (Michael C. Perhaps the most interesting series that is in the works is Dexter: Trinity, which will follow the notorious Trinity Killer (John Lithgow) on his journey to becoming one of the most...

Netflix is back with a new bag of holiday offerings to distract you from cooking and wrapping presents, and we’ve got the run-down of the best and worst, although this is an exceptionally good batch of Christmas movies. With that in mind, we’ve done our best to help you find what best suits your holiday vibe, so you know what to curl up with at the end of a long day spent trying to remember how to socialize after three winters’ worth of partying on Zoom.
The below list is ranked from what is, in our opinion, the best holiday treats Netflix is offering to the worst.

CBS‘ upcoming police drama East New York has added Caitlin Mehner (Dopesick), Darien Sills-Evans (Superior Donuts), and C.S. Lee (Dexter) to its cast in recurring roles. According to Deadline, Mehner will play Corinne Moynahan, the girlfriend of Detective Tommy Killian (Kevin Rankin). She works in the restaurant industry, having experience both in front-of-the-house and the back, and is driven to become more independent. Corinne likes that Killian is protective but also gets annoyed when he becomes overbearing. Sills-Evans will portray Deputy Mayor Raymond Sharpe, the polished and intuitive councilman native to East New York. Meanwhile, Lee will play Desk Sergeant Jimmy Kee, who keeps order and decorum in the precinct. Kee doesn’t have time for slobs or loudmouths — whether cops or civilians. Created by William Finkelstein and Mike Flynn, the series revolves around Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood (Amanda Warren), the newly promoted commanding officer of East New York, a poor,...

Sin and Damnation – How Scott Derrickson’s Underrated ‘Hellraiser: Inferno’ Rises Above Expectations
At the recent Silver Scream Con, I was surprised to hear Hellraiser star Doug Bradley remark, “The only one in the series I feel doesn’t work is Inferno, for various reasons.” I had always considered the 2000 effort one of the franchise’s stronger offerings, but it had been a while since I revisited the series, so I thought it may not hold up as well as I remembered.
As I’m working my way through the series ahead of David Bruckner‘s reboot, which drops October 7 on Hulu, I can confirm my support for the fifth installment. I have no doubt that Bradley has his reasons for disliking the film – it being the first installment to be released straight to video no doubt required adjustments, not to mention his minuscule screen time as Pinhead – but, even with its shortcomings, I think Hellraiser: Inferno is better than he gives it credit for.

"Good Burger" is one of those movies that only make sense if you saw it as a young kid. The 1997 comedy by Brian Robbins and written by Dan Schneider, Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert is based on the comedy sketch of the same name from the show "All That," the Nickelodeon equivalent to all those movies based on "Saturday Night Live" sketches. This is a deeply bizarre movie, not really well made, but nevertheless a weirdly hilarious movie that has garnered a cult following among '90s kids.
That film stars Kenan Thompson as Dexter, a slacker high-school student, and Kel Mitchell as Ed, a cashier at the Good Burger joint. The plot involves Ed and Dexter slowly becoming friends as they try to save the burger joint from closing as the grand opening of the giant new burger restaurant chain across the street is approaching. Confession time. I’ve never seen any episodes of All That or Kenan & Kel, and perhaps more damning in some people’s eyes, I’ve also never seen Good Burger. This probably makes me the worst person to write an article about Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell reuniting at last night’s Emmys.
Kenan Thompson hosted the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, and during a skit set at the bar (tended by Kumail Nanjiani), he came face-to-face with his old pal.

“Excuse me, sir,” Thompson said to a patron with his head buried on the counter, “can we get you a drink or something?” The man lifted his head, saying, “You know what… can I get a Good Burger?” And there was much rejoicing.

When I caught up with the lovely Maria Kennedy Doyle to chat about her new role in Acorn TV's Recipes for Love and Murder, it was a gloriously warm day for us both.
Maria laughed that the people in Dublin didn't know what to do with themselves with so much sunshine, and the shops were cleaned out of sun cream.
While others might have been lamenting the unexpected heatwave, Maria was reveling in it as "an unexpected treasure."
Since Kennedy burst onto the scene with The Commitments in 1991, she's been a hot commodity in the industry. Her ability to make every role unique even when, on paper, they may seem similar is truly a gift.
That's not to say that Kennedy hasn't had a wide breadth of roles. From The Tudors to Dexter to Orphan Black, Kin, and Outlander, she makes the most of every character, and they're nearly all fan-favorites of any series.

"Rutherford Falls" has been cancelled. The Native American-led sitcom set in a fictional small town has aired two seasons at Peacock, but today TVLine reports it won't get a third. This is frankly heartbreaking news for anyone who was following the sweet, clever comedy, which is one of only a small handful of American TV shows ever made by and about Native American people. But all hope isn't lost, as series co-creator Sierra Teller Ornelas has shared her intention to find a new home for the series if possible.
The series was made by Ornelas, a Navajo writer and filmmaker, along with star Ed Helms and "Parks and Recreation" and "The Good Place" creator Michael Schur. Unfortunately, though, "Rutherford Falls" never seemed to have the visibility of Schur's other shows, and remained a hidden gem for its two-year run.

Exclusive: Sean Ryan Fox (Henry Danger) and Catherine Daddario (Oak) will lead the cast of the indie high school drama The Midway Point, marking the feature directorial debut of writer-director Lucca Vieira, which has wrapped production in Los Angeles. Others in the ensemble include 2019 Honorary Academy Award winner Wes Studi (The Last of the Mohicans), Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Thora Birch (Ghost World) and Julie Benz (Dexter).
The coming-of-age film said to be in the vein of Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade follows the introverted and highly creative high school senior Jake (Fox) as he experiences his first love with Alice (Daddario), a brash and outgoing classmate. As the two open up to one another, the seemingly opposite pair find they have more in common than meets the eye. Studi plays Jake’s teacher, with Birch as his mother, and Benz as the school’s guidance counselor who helps him with his social anxieties.

Francis Ford Coppola is rounding out the cast to his big-budget indie film Megalopolis.
The call sheet is now a family affair, with Coppola’s sister (and his Godfather star) Talia Shire and nephew Jason Schwartzman joining the project. Also joining the cast are Shia Labeouf, Grace Vanderwaal, Kathryn Hunter and James Remar.
Megalopolis notably marks Labeouf’s highest profile project since former girlfriend FKA Twigs detailed in a February 2021 lawsuit alleged abuse she suffered at his hands. The actor has been back in the headlines over the past week as he prepares to launch his film Padre Pio on Sept. 2 at the Venice Film Festival. He pushed back at filmmaker Olivia Wilde saying she fired him from her fellow Venice title Don’t Worry Darling, asserting that he quit and leaking text messages and a video from Wilde he says proves that point.

It was a good night for “Modern Family,” “Homeland” and PBS and the start of an impressive streak for a favorite comedienne, while a drama’s winning streak came to a screeching halt. Jimmy Kimmel helmed the 64th Primetime Emmys on ABC on September 23, 2012, his first time hosting this awards show. Read on for our Emmys flashback 10 years ago to 2012.
“Modern Family” reigned over the Emmys in its first few years, claiming Best Comedy for each of its first five seasons, from 2010-2014. A decade ago, it was in the middle of this streak, not only winning in this category, but tying for most nominations (nine) and wins (four) of the night. The other five nominees in this category were “30 Rock,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Girls” and “Veep,” which did score a major victory.
