After traveling to the middle east in 2008 to interview Iraqi refugees, Charles Fredricks connected with Josef Avesar to help articulate the vision of a path to peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in which both sides in the perennial struggle have seemingly mutually exclusive national aspirations on the same small piece of territory. The resulting film, Surviving Peace, delves deeply into the core issues driving the Israeli-Palestinian clash, challenging the conventional wisdom about the underlying reasons for the dispute and what solutions may be possible. The film explores the possibility of a path to peace with dignity through the creation of a third governmental body, in which both Israelis and Palestinians would be afforded equal sovereignty.
