Ken Jennings returned to host “Jeopardy!” on Monday, kicking off the game show’s 40th season. He will continue as the sole host of both the flagship show and “Celebrity Jeopardy!”
Former co-host Mayim Bialik stepped down from hosting at the end of filming Season 39 in May out of solidarity with the striking writers, making the syndicated game show the first affected by the strikes.
At the time, Jennings was called a “scab” for not walking out with Bialik, but his podcast cohost John Roderick assured the public at the time that Jennings is “a SAG member in good standing” and that some fans had “no idea how organized labor functions.”
A rep for SAG-AFTRA confirmed to TheWrap on Monday that since the quiz show is a Network Television Code show, it is not part of the TV/Theatrical/Streaming contract and is “not struck.”

In response, WGA spokesperson Jason Gordon told Vanity Fair that the union is planning to picket outside Barrymore’s studio. He said, “‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ is a WGA-covered struck television show. It has stayed off the air since the strike began on May 2nd, but has now (unfortunately) decided to return without its writers.”

The Writers Guild of America East has issued a letter following the election of Donald Trump as U.S. president to mobilize members to fight for “a more diverse, inclusive and just industry,” TheWrap has learned. “We must mobilize our current and future members,” said Wgae executive director Lowell Peterson in a letter sent to members on Wednesday that describes the union as “an activist organization.” Wgae communications director Jason Gordon said the letter was a recognition of the changed political climate in the wake of Trump’s surprise upset of Hillary Clinton for the White House. Having written last week about the movies I saw this last summer and really enjoyed, I might as well this week talk about what’s coming up in the movie theaters between now and the end of the year. Which ones look interesting and which ones I’m really looking forward to.
The latter is the easiest to identify – Star Wars Episode VII, The Force Awakens – and the next entry in the James Bond saga, Spectre.
Star Wars is a gimme. I’ve been a Star Wars fans for a loooooong time and I labored in George Lucas’s vineyard for about ten years, doing a passel of comics. Yes, those are now in the process of being taken out of continuity but, Otoh, they were never A Canon, which meant Lucas could disregard them at any moment.
The Force Awakens is going to do what I really wanted after...

The reveal of the so-called real Lobo during last year's "Villains Month" caused a lot of controversy among comic book fans, so whether they'll embrace this new series remains to be seen. The official announcement reads, "If you find yourself rooting for the villains as much as the heroes, there’s a new series from Eisner Award-nominated writer Cullen Bunn and artist Reilly Brown coming your way: Lobo. The all-new Lobo brings the ultraviolence to this new ongoing solo series! But we'll also learn about the man behind the violence." Also announced by DC Comics today is Trinity of Sin from writer J.M. DeMatteis with art by Yvel Guichet and Jason Gordon. Forced to work together, this series picks up with the characters Pandora and the Stranger, following the ending of their solo series in September, and brings in The Question on a quest to save humanity and uncover the...
