Since childhood, Shaggy Rogers, Fred Jones, Velma Dinkley, and Daphne Blake have been solving mysteries across the globe accompanied by Shaggy’s pet dog, Scooby-Doo. But their greatest mystery together comes in a turn of events when they run into the Blue Falcon, who is trying to stop his arch-rival, Dick Dastardly, from causing a global “dogpocalypse” by unleashing the great Cerberus upon the world.
A reboot of the Scooby-Doo franchise, Scoob! starts right back at the beginning, when Shaggy and Scooby first met, then the Mystery Incorporated gang were, well… incorporated, Though to be fair, you hear the phrase reboot these days and audiences tend to zone out – after all there...

Since 1969, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred have been unmasking “ghosts” and uncovering mysteries, and a number of generations have grown up with their adventures. No doubt many readers will have their own favourite take on Hanna-Barbera Production’s magnum opus franchise. But in director Tony Corvone’s big screen-intended VOD animated film Scoob!, while things stay the same, they are also quite a bit different. Obviously, even the Mystery Machine crew could not foil Covid-19’s sinister plot and this hopeful kickstarter for a Hanna-Barbera shared universe did not have the beginnings it hoped for. That being said, as divisive as it is at points, these meddling kids still manage to just about get away with it.
The film starts at the very beginning for these characters, as young reclusive kid Shaggy Rogers inadvertently meets canine pup Scooby-Doo, the pair soon make friends with their future Mystery Inc. buddies one Halloween night,...

Chicago – It was inevitable that the iconic cartoon character Scooby Doo would get the modern animation treatment, and the new film “Scoob!” opens May 15th, 2020 on VOD platforms. Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com, reviewed the film during the Eddie Volkman Show.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
“Scooby Doo, Where Are You?” was a Saturday Morning Cartoon in the era of three network television, and premiered in 1969. Since then, it’s become a major franchise for the Hanna Barbera animation house, and has had more variations than the Marvel universe. “Scoobs!” Is a revival of the main characters, the dog named Scooby Doo (voice of Frank Welker) and his gang of mystery solvers … including Fred (Zac Efron), Daphne (Amanda Seyfried), Velma (Gina Rodriguez) and Scoob’s best friend Shaggy (Will Forte).
“Scoobs!” Is a space adventure, most likely to create a setting for its modern animation, and contains many mind blowing scenes. Also this story...

For over half a century, Scooby Doo and his friends have been a staple of cartoons, as well as, for a time, in live action adventures on the big screen. Now, the talking dog and pals are back in Scoob!, which is part origin story, part adventure tale (no pun intended). How does the animated canine function in CGI? Well, pretty good, actually. This is a fun, sometimes strange, and even emotionally satisfying movie. What could have been stale and recycled never comes off as such. The film just offers up some good family friendly fun. Especially these days, and at this specific moment, what more can you ask for? The film is a new Scooby Doo adventure, while also functioning as an origin story for the Mystery Inc. group that children of all ages have adored. As a boy, Norville “Shaggy” Rogers (voice of Will Forte) is a lonely kid,...

Blame it on “The Avengers.” Or better yet, “Justice League.” Those superheroes are so popular with audiences that Hollywood studios got it in their heads that the world wants to see “expanded universe” movies — unwieldy ensemble productions that bring together half a dozen or more stand-alone characters for a single umbrella adventure. Marvel and DC team-ups make a certain sense, since those super-friends frequently pool their powers in comic book form as well, but not so other brands, and though a handful of movies were greenlit under the strategy — including Universal’s “Bride of Frankenstein” and Warners’ “Godzilla vs. Kong” — they’re burning out or disbanding one by one.
That leaves WB’s computer-animated “Scoob!” looking awkwardly out of touch in several ways. First, it’s a pricey feature adaptation of a classic TV show that, because of the coronavirus outbreak, will instead be debuting via streaming — doomed to a small-screen fate.

The 15th annual Black List survey was revealed Monday December 16, and it includes 66 un-produced screenplays from up-and-coming literary talent. Results were pooled from a survey of more than 250 film executives, each of whom contributed the names of up to 10 favorite scripts that were written in, or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2019 and will not have begun principal photography during this calendar year. This year, scripts had to receive at least six mentions to be included on the Black List.
Since 2005, more than a third of the screenplays included in the annual Black List surveys have become produced films, and often to notoriety — such as “Argo,” “American Hustle,” “Juno,” “The King’s Speech,” “Slumdog Millionaire,” “Spotlight,” “The Revenants,” “The Descendants,” and “Hell or High Water.” Melina Matsoukas’s 2019 film “Queen & Slim,” written by Lena Waithe with a story co-authored by James Frey, was featured on the 2018 Black List.

Warner Bros. has big ambitions for its animation division, and the studio has zeroed in on the talent to help steer the ship on two popular properties.
Sources tell Variety that Warners and Warner Animation Group are in negotiations with “Shaft” helmer Tim Story to direct the new “Tom and Jerry” hybrid live-action pic. The studio has also brought on Chris Columbus as creative producer on the new “Scooby-Doo” animated movie.
Warners has been strengthening its animation slate going back to production on the “The Lego Movie,” which coincided with the formation of Warner Animation Group (Wag). Allison Abbate was tapped to oversee the division and executives including Jesse Ehrman and president of production Courtenay Valenti have made a big push to get classic titles like the Hanna-Barbera properties off the ground.
