The Hell of No Return isn't exactly the type of place you go to willingly, and Jack Burton has no choice but to endure the creature-crawling landscape with an unwelcome travel companion: his archenemy, David Lo Pan. They encounter flying pig demons and more in the ninth issue of John Carpenter and Eric Powell’s Big Trouble in Little China comic book series from Boom! Studios. The latest installment hit shelves last week, but if you still haven't paid your dues and purchased it because that check is still in the mail (as good ol' Burton would say), we have a set of preview pages teasing the humor and horror of issue #9.

Set to visit 16 cities in 2014, Wizard World’s plethora of comic book booths, clothing vendors, and impressive line-up of celebrities are always enough to sate the appetite of any pop culture enthusiast, but prior to their visit to Minneapolis May 2nd–4th, I was wondering how much horror would be had in the aisles within the Convention Center’s cavernous confines.
As it turns out, Wizard World had more than enough entertainment for horror fans to dig into, and they picked the perfect horror headliner for Wizard World Minneapolis: Robert Englund, best known as Freddy Krueger, the living legend of our nightmares and realities.
One of my first destinations upon entering Wizard World Minneapolis was Robert Englund’s booth. I weaved my way through a crowd of eye-grabbing cosplayers—Hellboy, Darth Maul, and a perfectly matched Spider-Man and Black Cat couple were of particular notice—before stepping in line to...

John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China is one of the greatest cult films of all time. A heady ‘80s action flick wherein Kurt Russell’s Jack Burton character spews hilarious one-liners while fighting against the evil David Lo-Pan – a centuries-old dude looking for a green-eyed bride-- BTiLC was ahead of its time, but still found a very appreciative audience in the years since its release. During that span, fans have clamored for a sequel, and now we’re about to get it – albeit in a format we didn’t quite expect. Boom! Comics is bringing Jack Burton (and characters like Egg Shen) back for more adventures in their new Big Trouble in Little China comic series, set to debut on June 4. The Goon’s Eric Powell and artist...

When you have favourite movies it always comes as a surprise when you hear that they bombed on original release, even more of a surprise when you learn that most of its failure was down to being buried by the film companies. This is the case of Big Trouble in Little China, a movie that now has such a cult following that it’s hard to see how it could have failed. Luckily for us we have Arrow Video to give us a Blu-ray steelbook release to truly celebrate the film.
