Despite initially earning Pixar its worst opening weekend in studio history, “Elemental” has bounce back. It went on to have a box office comeback and achieve sleeper-hit status. That streak continues on streaming after debuting on Disney+ on Sept. 13. The animated film went on to become the most-viewed movie in its opening week on the platform this year.
Studio executives reported that it had amassed 26.4 million views in the first five days following its release on the streaming service, more than doubling that of live-action “The Little Mermaid” which hit the service earlier this month. That makes “Elemental” the most-watched film during the week of its premiere on Disney+ since “Turning Red.”
For the weekend of Sept. 15-17, “Elemental” ranked as the No. 1 most-streamed film on Whip Media’s Movie Ranker, which uses viewership data from its consumer app, TV Time, with over 28 million registered global users.

Much like its characters Hadley and Oliver’s relationship, the final shot of Netflix’s “Love at First Sight” — adapted from Jennifer E. Smith’s best-selling novel — came about by chance, but Smith loves the twist on her book’s ending that closes out the film.
Vanessa Caswill directed Katie Lovejoy’s screenplay for “Love at First Sight,” which brings Hadley Sullivan (Hayley Lu Richardson) and Oliver Jones (Ben Hardy) together in a twist of fate when Hadley misses her flight by just four minutes. Luckily for Hadley, who usually runs late with a barely-charged phone, her departure disaster connects her with Oliver, with whom she shares the next flight to London. By the time their plane lands at Heathrow Airport, the pair have fallen in love.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight author Jennifer E. Smith has nothing but praise for Love at First Sight, the 2023 Netflix adaptation of her 2011 bestselling novel. The new trailer introduces the two strangers whose meet-cute occurs in an airport. Haley Lu Richardson (White Lotus) and Ben Hardy (Bohemian Rhapsody) star as the couple who experience a much more enjoyable flight than most travelers.
Author Smith told Netflix’s Tudum that she’s thrilled with Richardson and Hardy as the leads. “They are such a great Hadley and Oliver. They’re so charming and winning, and they have great chemistry. They just did right by the characters,” said Smith.
Katie Lovejoy adapted Smith’s book and Vanessa Caswill directed. Discussing the author, Caswill noted, “Jennifer was so trusting and generous and not precious in the slightest. […]She wrote me the sweetest email after she finally watched the film. It was so lovely,...

Jordan Fisher and Talia Ryder, the stars of Netflix’s “Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between,” agree on the very human themes present in their new rom-com.
Based on Jennifer E. Smith’s Young Adult novel of the same name, couple Claire (Ryder) and Aidan (Fisher) spend 1 hour and 24 minutes reliving the memories of their relationship before they have to decide whether to stay together or go their separate ways for college. Aidan’s parents want him to follow in their footsteps by becoming a doctor, but he would rather chase the dream of music than med school. Claire is determined to be an independent woman wherever she goes to college.

It says something about the state of modern romance that even the most mainstream teen rom-coms find inspiration in deconstructing traditional relationship structures. Based on the eponymous YA novel by Jennifer E. Smith and with a screenlay by Ben York Jones and Amy Reed, Netflix’s latest teen romance “Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between” follows two teens who plan their break-up on their very first date. No longer the sole province of Woody Allen-influenced adult rom-coms, the neurotic commitment-phobic teen, jaded by parental divorce and social media, has finally come for YA. Unfortunately in this case, they’re far less interesting than that sounds.
Playing with a gimmicky structure, “Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between” begins with a meet-cute, fast-forwards through a whirlwind senior year romance montage, then spends most of its brief 84-minute running time on a highly planned final “break-up” date. As Aidan (Jordan Fisher) and...

Netflix’s newest YA rom-com, “Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between,” required stars Jordan Fisher and Talia Ryder (“Never Rarely Sometimes Always”) to dig deep within themselves — and their past relationships — for the film.
Based on Jennifer E. Smith’s 2015 novel of the same name, the film follows high school seniors Aidan (Fisher) and Clare (Ryder), who share a whirlwind romance but vow to break up before they go to college. However, things get complicated as they each grapple with their true feelings while reliving their relationship during one last date.
With several intense scenes during which Aidan and Clare just can’t seem to get on the same page, Fisher and Ryder knew they would need to truly get to know each other to be able to inhabit their characters. Though both at different stages in life — 28-year-old Fisher just became a father, while Ryder is 19 — being vulnerable with...

Almost everyone can identify with the “make or break” moment in a relationship, which makes the new Netflix film “Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between” nearly universal in its potential reach — the film’s entire plot revolves around that crucial moment. And for stars Jordan Fisher and Talia Ryder, delving that deeply into a relationship’s breaking point meant they needed to get to know each other incredibly fast.
Based on the book by Jennifer E. Smith, the story chronicles Aidan (Fisher) and Claire’s (Ryder) last night together before Claire leaves for college the next day. The couple had originally begun their relationship with the understanding that they’d break up before heading into this next chapter, and on one last epic date, Aidan reminds Claire of all their special moments together, bringing them to revisit the highs and lows of their relationship. Adapted from the novel by Jennifer E. Smith, director Michael Lewen’s “Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between” captures adolescent interactions and intelligence through an empathetic lens. But even though this Netflix original doesn’t condescend to its targeted teen audience, it fails to surmount basic issues dealing with narrative credulity and the outcome’s predictability.
The story centers on two modern-minded teens who enter a 10-month-long dating compact as an obligatory starter romance, agreeing to break up the night before leaving for college. But would real teens remotely act this way? Or are the adult creators transposing their own ideas onto teen turf?
Cautious high school senior Clare (Talia Ryder) thinks she’s risk-averse. All the moving around when she was young, due to her parents’ divorce, made her plunge head first into her textbooks. Determined not to be distracted by boys or friendships, she concentrated instead on securing...

"What if I'm throwing away the best thing that ever happened to me?" Netflix has revealed the trailer for yet another YA romance titled Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between, arriving for streaming in July. Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between is a charming romantic comedy from the producers of the popular To All the Boys franchise and based on the best-selling book by Jennifer E. Smith. Such a cliche question, and everything about this film is so cliche and unoriginal. Attractive young people unsure of whether to enjoy their young love or grow up?! Such a unique concept, oh wow. The cast also includes Ayo Edebiri,...

Not disastrous, but not the typical rise to prominence and slew of work that comes with the Academy Award touch. Steinfeld earned a nomination in 2011 for her work on the Coen Bros’ “True Grit.” Two years earlier, Black won a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for “Milk.” Since then, neither have tackled material that’s brought them back into the awards conversation.
