- Her parents met at The Eastman School of Music. Her father was a violinist and her mother is a pianist.

- Is classically trained on the piano and nearly became a concert pianist after studying at Trinity College of Music in London. But, she didn't want to give up singing, writing music, acting and aspiring to be a film composer.
- Is a classically trained singer and sings opera, classical and pop music. Her favorite pop singer is Olivia Newton-John, who inspired her as a teen to want to sing in that style.
- Got her first acting role in "The Artist" by first being cast as an extra, but was upgraded to a role when the director gave her direction to interact with the lead actress, Bérénice Bejo, in a memorable scene that features the song, "Pennies from Heaven." The movie itself is about a woman who is an extra (played by Bérénice Bejo), a rising young actress and who eventually becomes a star.
