While the MCU expands with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, the franchise has one of its biggest movies awaiting an update. The climax of the ‘Multiverse Saga’ is looming on the horizon. The franchise has yet to share any news about Avengers 5, especially after it lost its main villain Kang after the actor Jonathan Majors was sentenced and dropped from the role.
However, a popular scooper has revealed some major updates about the film. The film is set to focus on the ‘New Avengers’ which does not seem to include some Og members of the team such as Thor and Hawkeye. Despite Majors’ firing, Kang still seems to be in the mix and will reportedly be one of two villains.

But how serious was Paramount about that tease? The studio revealed at CinemaCon this afternoon that they are definitely planning on making that Transformers x G.I. Joe movie!

Cue the Linkin Park song and get ready to roll out, because the Autobots are back, and this time they're bringing friends. The prophecy is finally fulfilled, and we are getting the much-promised Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover teased in the final moments of "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts."
The news was formally unveiled during Paramount Pictures' presentation at CinemaCon 2024, where /Film's own Ryan Scott witnessed the announcement of the union between the two titanic franchises.
This was, if nothing else, anticipated by fans. "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" helmer Steven Caple, Jr., who previously promised the next chapter in the franchise would bring the Maximals, Autobots, and Joes together, is expected to return to the director's chair, although there's no news yet about which (if any) human cast members will also be back. Is "Rise of the Beasts" lead Anthony Ramos going to be the new Sam Witwicky and...

After 2007’s Transformers became a huge box office hit, Hasbro would pull from another of their popular properties that also had a place in pop culture with an 80s cartoon — G.I. Joe. However, G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra would not do the kind of numbers that Transformers had brought in, and the style was surprisingly geared more towards the Michael Bay film with some sci-fi twists rather than a more straight-forward military combat movie with colorfully eccentric characters. The sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, would offer more of what many would come to expect from the property and had actually become more successful commercially (mostly thanks to Dwayne Johnson‘s star power).
Then, 2021 saw a sort of prequel spin-off of one of the most popular characters from the franchise with the solo film Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. Henry Golding, who shot up to fame with the success of Crazy Rich Asians,...

"Transformers" is a tricky thing to talk about. Your average moviegoer tends to enjoy the movies (at least up until 2017's "The Last Knight"), but people who use words like "cinema" and "art" when talking about movies kind of hate them. Things got better when Michael Bay finally vacated the director's chair, with 2018's "Bumblebee" ranking as easily the most acclaimed entry in the multi-billion-dollar franchise to date. Last year's "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" tried to keep that new magic going and did so with mixed results. But there is at least one scene in the film that stands a cut above the rest, reminding us of what this franchise can be in its best moments.
It is perhaps not surprising that arguably the best moment in director Steven Caple Jr.'s "Rise of the Beasts" involves Bumblebee. Everyone's favorite little yellow Autobot has been the secret sauce in...

Steven Caple, Jr.'s 2023 movie, "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts," took place partly in Peru and was filmed in notable locations around the country. According to Andina, the Peruvian news agency, "Rise of the Beasts" was filmed partly in the lush jungles of San Martin where Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) and Optimus Primal (Ron Perlman) met to discuss tactics in taking down the wicked robot Scourge (Peter Dinklage). Other parts of "Beasts" were shot in Saqsayhuaman on the outskirts of the ancient city of Cusco, which is an enormous stone network of structures in the shape of a puma. It is one of Peru's most-visited locations. The filmmakers also filmed near the thousands of salt ponds of Maras, as well as near Macchu Picchu, the 15th-century Incan citadel you read all about in your fifth-grade geography class.
Naturally, the Peruvian tourism boards have begun offering "Transformers"-themed tours of Machu Picchu.

The “Transformers” franchise returned to theaters in 2023 with “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” the latest installment in the big-screen, live-action adaptation of the beloved Hasbro toy line. “Rise of the Beasts,” which is the planned start of a new trilogy, is the seventh film in the series. Chronologically, it comes after “Bumblebee,” which was a prequel to the first five films in the series. This means you don’t technically have to watch or rewatch any of the Michael Bay-helmed movies before — but don’t you kind of want to anyway?
In case you forgot, Michael Bay was behind the camera for “Transformers” (2007), “Revenge of the Fallen” (2009), “Dark of the Moon” (2011), “Age of Extinction” (2014), and “The Last Knight” (2017). If you're a fan of the "Transformers" franchise, you've seen some epic battles. They've taken place all over the world, from Stonehenge to the Great Wall of China to the pyramids of Giza. We've seen these robots in disguise fight it out with each other everywhere. There are CGI characters talking with humans ... the whole thing is complicated.

Across the "Transformers" franchise, from the 1980s animated series to its seven live-action films, the most recognizable and steady presence is Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus Prime. For the younger generation, however, the voice of Pete Davidson in "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" is probably even more noticeable. The comedian, best known for his stint on "Saturday Night Live" and his raucous dating life, plays the Autobot spy Mirage in the latest robot-smashing epic, adding to the enduring legacy of bad jokes and cheesy dialogue the series has become known for over the years.
Returning to the franchise for the first time since the third film, 2011's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," Mirage has the ability to project holograms and transform into a Porsche 964 Carrera. For years, the live-action "Transformers" movie franchise's box office numbers appeared to have a reverse correlation with Rotten Tomatoes scores: the more scathing reviews a "Transformers" movie got, the more tickets it would sell. This was held up as proof that (depending on your perspective) either snooty film critics are out of touch with modern moviegoers, or modern moviegoers will watch any old trash as long as it's loud and action-heavy and has characters they recognize.
Neither of these conclusions are really fair. Director Michael Bay, for all his faults, does a great explosion and also perfected the art of the 360 spinning hero shot. Sometimes the world needs a loud movie with robots that will entertain kids who aren't really paying attention to the plot. And film critics can love trash just as much as the next person. As financial barriers to filmmaking tech lower — while barriers to higher education continue to rise and student loans remain a legislative flashpoint — film programs nationwide have had to consider how to adapt to stand out.
Many programs have added LED walls (Uncsa, DePaul) and are building backlots that rival Warner Bros. (Scad). Some upstarts are successfully climbing the ranks of a crowded field — Brooklyn College’s Feirstein is only 8 years old — while others are doubling down on long-established reputations: Think Wesleyan (a liberal arts school committed to celluloid) or USC (a big program with an even bigger alumni network). All the while scholarships, financial aid, tuition expenses and postgraduate grants are becoming more paramount to would-be student decision-making.
With all this in mind, THR has compiled its 13th annual list of the nation’s top film programs.

The first "eureka moment" in recorded history occurred when Archimedes, upon immersing himself in a bathtub, finally understood the concept of water displacement. It was not a discovery per se (the phenomenon had been there every time he went for a soak), but, for whatever reason, this time the light went on, and my man allegedly streaked nude through the streets of Syracuse proclaiming his discovery.
Since then, the term "eureka moment" has been used to describe everything from mind-blowing scientific revelations to unearthing a motherlode of gold — epochal occasions for the planet or an individual. Something so wild you're compelled to yell some nonsense like "Eureka!"
I would not consider, "Hey, let's put G.I. Joe and the Transformers in the same movie" to be anywhere in the atom-splitting ballpark of a "eureka moment." Especially when your studio owns the rights to both franchises, and, well, every kid who...

Two completely different movies just spurred a huge streaming weekend for Paramount+.
The first thing to know: “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” was the most-streamed movie in the U.S. last weekend, according to Whip Media’s weekly movie ranker. Whip Media’s ranker is based on viewership data from TV Time, its TV and movie tracking app with more than 26 million global registered users.
“Beasts” took the top spot immediately after making its Paramount+ debut on July 25. But its streaming success wasn’t necessarily a sure thing.
The new “Transformers” movie, directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, pulled in about $430 million at the box office. That’s a lot of money, to be sure, but it’s also the smallest amount made out of any of the franchise’s seven installments. Its finish atop Whip Media’s ranker marked the first time since...

In Steven Caple, Jr.'s new film "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts," Anthony Ramos plays a character named Noah who has fallen on financial hard times. In an act of desperation, he agrees to break into a museum to steal a car and sell it to Reek (rapper Tobe Nwigwe), an associate of his in the criminal underground. What Noah doesn't know is that the car he is stealing is, in fact, a robot in disguise. After a chase with the police -- a chase in which the car seems to drive itself and project holographic duplicates into the lanes surrounding it -- the robot transforms into a mechanical humanoid and introduces itself as Mirage. Mirage is a Transformer from the planet Cybertron, and who works as a soldier for the stern robot commander Optimus Prime. Mirage is voiced by Pete Davidson and is the "laidback" and "funny" Transformer, often...

It’s been a week (ish) since I hopped behind the wheel of a Porsche for the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Porsche Driving Experience. The day was beyond exciting. And it was a thrilling and inventive way to promote the franchise sequel. Starring Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Velez, and Dean Scott Vazquez. It also features an impressive cast of actors giving voice to the actual Transformers themselves. The talent includes Peter Cullen, Ron Perlman, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, and a scene-stealing Pete Davidson.
At the event, we spoke with the film’s director, Steven Caple Jr., and second unit director, James Madigan. While at an event at the Porsche Driving Experience, they discussed the car’s connection with the film. James and Steven also talked about the casting of Pete Davidson and matching him with the vehicle in question. The two also opened up about just how...

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, directed by Steven Caple Jr, is about to hit home video. The film stars Anthony Ramos, Luna Lauren Velez, Dominique Fishback, and a hilarious voice performance from Pete Davidson as Mirage. And since Mirage usually appears as a Porsche, the publicity team had something special in store for its video release. In honor of the film, several journalists made their way to the Porsche Driving Experience in Carson, California. We drove the Porsche 911 and the 718 Cayman and spoke with the film’s director, Mr. Caple Jr, and second unit director, James Madigan. It was quite a rush, and that’s a massive understatement.
I’ve never driven a Porsche in my entire life. And the second we arrived, we had the fantastic opportunity to get behind the wheel of these two beauties. Firstly, taking off in a car and going zero to sixty is more than a little thrilling.

For the first-time team-up between the Autobots and Maximals in the “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” prequel, director Steven Caple Jr. (“Creed II”) was given a lot of creative freedom in designing and animating the characters. Gone was Ilm from the previous six films, giving way to Mpc and Wētā FX. Mpc was the principal VFX studio and did all of the design work, but both had a hand in overhauling the Autobots and introducing the beast-like Maximals, which mix fur and flesh with their metal parts.
Production VFX supervisor Gary Brozenich (from Mpc) oversaw the work. After studying the previous films, he met with Caple to discuss his vision for tailoring the animation and also consulted with previous director Michael Bay (who still serves as producer). Rather than continuing to push the hyper-realism of the Bay films, Caple wanted to make them look more straightforward, with a nod toward...

Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts got a mixed reaction from the critics, but certainly appears to have connected with audiences, knocking Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse from the top of the of the Stateside box office for a $61 million opening and almost $80 million globally. Which has Paramount, of course, throwing early development of another entry in the franchise into a higher gear and, kicking off formal talks with Beasts director Steven Caple Jr. to return.
Talking to Deadline's Crew Call podcast, Caple Jr. confirmed that he was certainly talking to the studio about a return engagement while specifying that he hasn't been formally hired yet. Still, as he says, there's a lot of "we" going around as he discusses the next film with the producers and studio executives.
Now, before we continue, a Spoiler Warning for those who have not seen Rise Of The Beasts…

Exclusive: After the Transformers was gearing down, filmmaker Steven Caple Jr. was able to put gas back into the tank of the storied Paramount Hasbro movie franchise with Rise of the Beasts this weekend which opened to $171M worldwide, stealing the crown from Sony Animation’s strong Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. On today’s episode of Crew Call, Caple Jr. tells us he’s in talks for another Transformers sequel — and much of that involves that cliffhanger scene between Anthony Ramos and Michael Kelly.

Major Spoilers for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Consider yourself warned. The latest installment of the long-running Transformers franchise is now playing in theaters, but the ending of Rise of the Beasts could shake up the series in a major way.
Related Weekend Box Office: Transformers wins the weekend with $60.5 Million
The ending of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts found Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos) being offered a job with G.I. Joe, setting the stage for a major crossover between the two Hasbro properties. It’s something which has happened in comic-books, but fans were still surprised when it unfolded on the big-screen. Just how did the Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover come to be? Turns out that director Steven Caple Jr. just included it in the draft, much to the surprise of the studio.
“So, in the beginning, I got the script, and I started developing Noah’s [Anthony Ramos] storyline,” Steven Caple Jr.

[This story contains spoilers for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.]
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts director Steven Caple Jr. has now brought two intriguing what-if scenarios to fruition.
In 2018’s Creed II, Caple Jr. pitted the sons of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) and Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) against each other, and while Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) emerged the victor, the audience still felt sympathy for the Drago family, which seemed all but impossible in Rocky IV (1985). Shortly after the release of Creed II, Paramount talked to Caple Jr. about potentially helming a sequel to Travis Knight’s Bumblebee (2018), but the Ohio native didn’t want to follow up a direct sequel with another direct sequel.
A year or so later, Caple and Paramount resumed talks and agreed on a new take that was influenced by the Transformers: Beast Wars animated storyline, introducing animal-like Transformers known as the Maximals, the planet-eating big bad, Unicron, and his henchmen,...
