- TriviaBobby Comstock Band personnel
Early ('60s) version of The Counts included fellow Ithacan Gus Eframson on bass. Gus also acted as road manager and driver. In the early '70s, (when the band was still being referred to as Bobby Comstock and the Counts, Bob and high school chum/drummer Allen Vanderberg used guitarists Paul Johnson or Larry Crowder at varying times, as well as bassists Mitch Bucci or Joel Warren. The Bobby Comstock Band, or simply The Comstock Band added lefty bassist and singer Steve Steward in1973. From 1973-1980, Comstock Band personnel was fairly consistent with Bobby Comstock (front vocal, rhythm and lead guitar), Steward (on bass and vocals), Larry Crowder (lead and rhythm guitar, vocals), Allen Vanderberg (drums, vocal on Blueberry Hill!). Later additions or changes included: Anne Serafin (front lead and harmony vocals), and Joe Whiting (front lead and harmony vocals), with Al Hartland eventually replacing Vanderberg on drums. There was a short-lived country version with Donnie Harding on guitar. Later, Duke Shanahan stepped in as the second guitarist. Yet another configuration was The Comstock-Miles Band (1980-1981), with Bobby Comstock, Brian Miles (rhythm guitar, lead and harmony vocals), Steve Steward (bass, vocals), Sara Magladery (lead and harmony vocals), Rick Pallatto (lead guitar), and Al Hartland (drums). A later version of this band existed without Sara.
