Back in its heyday, How To Get Away With Murder was one of the hottest shows on television.
Thursday nights on ABC were once the night that Shonda Rhimes built from start to finish, with Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and the aforementioned legal drama setting the interwebs on fire every week.
The series was a bonafide hit from the start and constantly had social media ablaze as viewers were thrust into murderous coverups and shocking twists every season.
It’s been over three years since the series signed off, and while we’re still reliving all the bloody mayhem during our various rewatches, the cast has moved on to other projects. And what projects might those be? Let’s look at what the cast of How To Get Away With Murder is doing now!

Spoiler Alert: The report includes details about the Season 3 finale of How to Get Away with Murder.
Tonight’s series finale of ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder was filled with twists and turns, but fans finally got answers to some pressing questions — most important, whether Annalise will be absolved of her crimes.
Here’s what went down.
The season finale, titled “Stay,” opens with a shooting at the courthouse, and chaos breaks out. We get more context on that later.
The show rewinds to three days earlier, where Annalise (Viola Davis) is panicking after learning of the death of Hannah. Frank (Charlie Weber) is thought to be the perpetrator as he just learned some very shocking news about his parents — he was born out of an incestuous relationship between Hannah and her late brother/Annalise’s ex-husband Sam. It’s later implied that Governor Birkhead (Laura Innes) was behind her killing.

How to Get Away With Murder actor Jack Falahee and DJ/producer Elephante (a.k.a. Tim Wu) met years ago as high school classmates in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They’ve since found success in their respective fields, and more recently they’ve teamed up as Diplomacy, a duo whose new single, “Undertow,” is a brooding, triumphant track worth hearing. A mid-tempo rocker with a sparse beat that churns and grinds its way towards a chorus you can’t help but feel, this song is like picnicking on Valentine’s Day under dark gray skies.

For five seasons on “How To Get Away With Murder,” lawyer and professor Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) was involved, to various degrees, in other deaths. But this time, it came for her.
The premiere episode of the sixth and final season of the ABC-Shondaland drama ended with a signature flash-forward that revealed Annalise’s funeral. The scene, which will be explained as subsequent episodes unfold in the show’s usual structure, delivering answers at the mid-season mark at the end of the calendar year, was something of a book-end to the beginning of the episode, in which Annalise was in rehab and told by her therapist that she had to make a choice as to whether she would live or die. After six seasons and a historic Emmy win under its belt, “How To Get Away With Murder” will be signing off of ABC.
The Shondaland drama is one of only three left on the broadcaster, and one that has left an indelible mark not only on that network’s schedule but also on the landscape of television in general. Showrun by Pete Nowalk, the series often wrapped deep discussions on tough topics such as addiction, adoption, abuse, an HIV diagnosis and criminal justice reform with more salacious plots about murdered husbands, mysterious new students and complicated romantic relationships.
“I still believe, and I will say this until I go to my grave, that Annalise Keating [and] Olivia Pope are the greatest characters on TV,” series star Viola Davis, who became the first African American woman to win the lead drama actress Emmy for her performance as lawyer and professor Annalise Keating in 2015, tells Variety.

The upcoming sixth season of “How to Get Away With Murder” will be the Shondaland legal drama’s last outing, ABC announced on Thursday.
The Viola Davis-led legal drama is set to return for its 15-episode final season on Thursday, Sept. 26.
“Deciding to end this series was a brutal decision, but ultimately the story tells you what to do – as it did here,” series creator Peter Nowalk said in a statement. “For me, Annalise Keating’s journey has always had a clear ending. Knowing I have 15 episodes left to finish her story, and the chance to give all the characters their own killer endings, is a gift rarely given to a series creator and I’m grateful to ABC and ABC Studios for the opportunity and creative freedom.”

The upcoming sixth season of “How to Get Away With Murder” will be its last.
The news comes only a day after it was revealed that the first Shondaland series under Shonda Rhimes’ colossal Netflix deal will debut in 2020. Rhimes left ABC for the streamer last year after more than a decade with the studio.
However, the mega producer will still have ties with the Disney-owned network for at least another year, as ABC handed out a two-season renewal to “Grey’s Anatomy” back in May. Rhimes also has “Grey’s” spinoff “Station 19” still going at ABC, and although that series was renewed for a third season at the same time, it remains to be seen how much longer it lasts past the 2019-2020 season as Rhimes continues to reign back her ABC properties. A couple other ABC-Shondaland collaborations, namely “Scandal” and “For the People,” ended their runs last year.

How to Get Away with Murder is coming back for another season!
ABC has confirmed the twisty drama series will be back for a sixth season.
The writing has been on the wall for the Viola Davis-fronted series for a while now.
How to Get Away with Murder Season 5 continued to dip in the ratings, with live + same day ratings of 2.8 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating in the demo.
Related: Cobie Smulders' P.I. Drama Ordered at ABC
Out of ABC's 21 scripted series, How to Get Away with Murder ranks as the network's 15th highest-rated series.
The show does add on a decent chunk of viewers in delayed viewing, but with the continued erosion, it makes sense that ABC would end it.
The good news is that fans will be getting resolution to that big cliffhanger. Investing many years in a TV show for it to be canceled is not the best.

How To Get Away With Murder, starring Viola Davis, will return for a sixth season on ABC. It is one of three Shondaland series to get renewals for next season, along with flagship Grey’s Anatomy and spinoff Station 19, both run by Krista Vernoff. Legal drama For the People has been canceled.
“Everyone at Shondaland is thrilled that our fans’ commitment to Tgit continues,” said Shonda Rhimes and producing partner Betsy Beers in a joint statement. “We are so proud of Krista and Pete and the work they do. Making the choice to have Krista oversee ‘Station 19’ was easy — the creativity she brings to the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe continues a tradition of storytelling we hold dear.”
Created by Peter Nowalk, How to Get Away with Murder has been a constant in ABC’s Tgit programming block since its premiere in 2014. During its fifth season, the series ranked as the No.

"That real deal, true feeling..." Freestyle Digital Media has debuted the trailer for an indie titled Berserk, set in the Hollywood Hills. The film is the feature directorial debut of Australian actor Rhys Wakefield, who also co-stars in the thriller. Here is the pitch: three people working in Hollywood make the realization that none of them have ever felt true fear, so over the course of one night, they set out to trick each other into feeling it. This looks like it's a bit of horror, a bit of comedy, and sort of a Hollywood satire about people who just want to be famous but never will achieve that fame. Nick Cannon and Rhys Wakefield star as Raffy and Evan, along with James Roday, Nora Arnezeder, and Jack Falahee. I cannot say this trailer makes me interested in seeing this, but maybe it'll be a fun weekend VOD discovery sometime.

In 1987, Tony Goldwyn made history by playing the first gay man to die of AIDS on episodic television during an episode of “Designing Women.” A couple of years later, “Thirtysomething” featured a gay artist (Peter Frechette) who was HIV-positive. These HIV/AIDS storylines about gay men may have involved the show’s leads but they were usually short-lived. In the case of “Thirtysomething,” advertisers bailed on the show when Frechette was shown in bed with his lover. Years later, HBO’s “Looking” continually addressed safe sex and HIV/AIDS throughout the show’s two-season run before it ended in 2016. Now, however, HIV/AIDS in the Lgbt community is being addressed on television series like never before, in series that range from broadcast dramas such as Fox’s “Empire” and ABC’s “How To Get Away With Murder” to cable period drama “Pose” on FX.

In its fifth season, “How To Get Away With Murder” is “going back to basics with Annalise in the classroom” — but showrunner Pete Nowalk promises plenty of new mysteries, including another death and the arrival of a new law student, Gabriel Maddox (Rome Flynn).
“Annalise started as a lawyer who wanted splashy cases and attention and to win the game, and I think she’s been through so much s— she needs to, in her heart, feel like a redeemable person so she’s trying to give back [now],” says Nowalk.
So she throws herself into a teaching a third-year law school class, but also to continue her work on Nate Lahey Sr.’s (Glynn Turman) case. “He won the Supreme Court case but now he gets to re-try his case, so we’re going to watch that happen, too, this season,” Nowalk says.

Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) is back for the new school year, and she’s not going to let anyone forget that’s where she belongs.
“And to think, they wouldn’t even let me step foot on this campus a few months ago,” Annalise tells her newest class of hopeful law students in the new Season 5 trailer that ABC dropped on Thursday. “Despite what you think, this is not a class. It’s a sacrifice. Brutal. Mean. Depressing. But that’s what it costs to change the world. So who wants in?”
Cue to the entire room of students raising their hands. But if the last four seasons are an indication of what’s to come, our advice would be to take up a different major.

"I gave you a home, I didn't give you my name!" The Orchard has debuted a new official trailer for an indie film titled The Song of Sway Lake, a funky musical fable of sorts about a boy who tries to steal a rare vinyl record from his own family's estate. Rory Culkin stars in this as Ollie, and the cast includes Robert Sheehan, Isabelle McNally, Mary Beth Peil, Elizabeth Peña, Jack Falahee, Brian Dennehy, and Anna Shields. This is actually, strangely enough, supposedly a musical featuring vocal performances by Brian Dennehy, John Grant, and The Staves. ABC has given a Season 5 pickup to its legal thriller drama How to Get Away With Murder. The renewal of the Shondaland drama was fully expected.
After the end of Scandal, Htgawm is the second longest-running Shondaland series, and it’s well received, earning star Viola Davis top awards including an Emmy.
