For the first three seconds of her most recent YouTube video, Colleen Ballinger (aka Miranda Sings) stares sadly at the floor.
Then she reaches over and grabs a ukelele.
She spends the next ten minutes strumming and singing about how allegations that she sent sexual messages to underage fans are all part of a “toxic gossip train” full of “lies and rumors that you made up for clout.”
These allegations first surfaced in 2020, when former fan Adam McIntyre began posting about interactions he had with Ballinger when he was between the ages of 13 and 16. McIntyre (who’s now 20) was part of a core cohort of teenage fans in a group chat with Ballinger called “Colleeny’s Weenies.” Ballinger responded to some of his allegations in 2020, admitting that she’d sent him a pair of her underwear and calling the decision to do so “completely stupid.”
But McIntyre has since come...

When Tiger Woods was arrested for DUI on Monday morning, it was a stark reminder of his 2009 car accident that launched a high-profile sex scandal that derailed both his personal and professional life.
For Woods, everything fell apart on November 27, 2009 — the Friday after Thanksgiving. The golfer ran barefoot out of his mansion wearing khaki shorts and a dark blue T-shirt. He got into his Cadillac Escalade. Before he even left his driveway, he careened into a row of hedges, drove over a curb, and swerved into a fire hydrant before ultimately plowing into a neighbor’s oak tree at 30 miles per hour.

Digital creator Colleen Ballinger has had a tumultuous year -- from announcing her divorce from fellow influencer Joshua Evans to launching her very own series on Netflix, Haters Back Off. And now, this holiday season, Ballinger, who is perhaps most famous for creating YouTube's beloved Miranda Sings character, is looking to give back.
In celebration of her birthday on Nov. 21, Ballinger kicked off a GoFundMe campaign to raise money and awareness to fight childhood cancer. Ballinger launched the initiative on her birthday last year after she met a fan on tour who was fighting cancer. Last year, she donated all funds raised to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, but this year she said she intends to donate to individual families in need.

In an emotionally wrought vlog posted to her channel on Friday, Colleen Ballinger -- the mind behind YouTube’s beloved singing sensation Miranda Sings -- announced that she and her husband, fellow YouTube star Joshua Evans, are getting a divorce. While Ballinger explains that filming such a video is almost too painful to bare, she said she feels she owes it to fans who have followed their relationship over the course of eight years.
“You’ve watched us date, you’ve watched us get engaged, you’ve watched us get married,” she says. “We’ve shown you everything because we wanted to, and I don’t regret any of that. But we chose to not share with you the hard parts of our relationship. And there were a lot of hard parts of our relationship.”

We could all use a little guidance--and Miranda Sings is happy to provide us with all the “Selp Helf” we need. Miranda’s comedy special, first announced last month, has now premiered on Vimeo On Demand.
Selp Helf, which runs for 74 minutes and was filmed earlier this year at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, features the comedic stylings of Miranda, who is the alter ego of Colleen Evans. The special shares its name with a book authored by Evans and published by Gallery Books early in 2015. When it became available for pre-order, the Selp Helf book became a quick bestseller. Given Miranda’s popularity and the success Vimeo has seen with other projects led by YouTube stars, the Selp Helf special is likely to emerge as a top seller in its own right.
