[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago P.D. Season 9, Episode 9 “No Way Out.”] Who doesn’t love a winter wedding? Well, that’s what Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) had in the Chicago P.D. winter finale, after the former took care of FBI Special Agent North’s (Alex Morf) ultimatum. Rather than turn in Voight (Jason Beghe) or risk his and Hailey’s arrest, Jay used blackmail material to get the agent to back down. Then, he went home to Hailey and asked her to “marry me, now.” She said yes, and the episode ended with a look at them exchanging vows and rings at the courthouse and their wedding night. Soffer and Spiridakos discuss that big Upstead moment and tease what’s ahead. Jay and Hailey are married! What made that the right way for them to do it? They don’t seem like big celebration kind of people. Tracy Spiridakos: ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago P.D. Season 9, Episode 9 “No Way Out.”] Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) has a major decision to make in the Chicago P.D. winter finale, one that can change everything for him and his partner and fiancée Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos). Now that FBI Special Agent North (Alex Morf) has put the pieces together about what happened to Roy, the human trafficker Hailey shot to save Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) as he was questioning him about the whereabouts of Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), Jay has a decision to make. Either North arrests Jay and Hailey, or Jay helps the FBI agent take down Voight. With the clock ticking, Jay keeps this from Hailey but does clue in Voight, who wants to handle it himself. Jay refuses to let him and ends up following Voight’s lead to get dirt on North to blackmail him into dropping the matter: The agent’...

This week Batwoman introduces us to one of more dangerous rogues of Batman’s, Victor Zsasz (Alex Morf), and as a result, produces the best episode of the new Batwoman season. For those unfamiliar to Zsasz, he’s a sadistic assassin (is there any other?) that cuts a “slash” into his body with each successful kill. He’s one of the darker characters in the Batman comic books and has always been one of my favorite villains as he is never “over the top” and is never portrayed as a comedic villain.
What Happened This Week?
This week’s episode splits up the main characters, so I’ll do the same in this review.
Ryan, Mary, Luke and Zsasz
Zsasz is hired by a wealthy woman to murder her cheating husband and his mistress at a high-end hotel.

This Batwoman article contains spoilers for Season 2, Episode 3.
Classic Batman villain Victor Zsasz burst onto the scene in this week’s Batwoman with what is simultaneously the creepiest and most fun villain introduction on the series yet. Tricking his way into a hotel suite with a bottle of high end champagne, the notorious hitman took out a high roller and his mistress by order of the man’s wife, telling them so as he chased them around the hotel room and killed them, making sure the mistress knew Zsasz’s client splashed out more than her now-dead husband.
The scene is full of snappy dialogue, juxtaposing Zsasz’s charm with the brutal surety with which he does his job and the sickening creepiness of rearranging the bodies to look like they’re sleeping soundly in the hotel bed. It’s also the perfect introduction to the latest iteration of a...

Gotham's villains often pull focus, and on Batwoman Season 2 Episode 3, we get a couple vying for the spotlight while Batwoman 2.0 gets her game on.
Not only are Zsasz and Safiyah highly entertaining and intriguing, respectively, but the writers manage to tantalize us with a Jack Napier reference in the final moments.
Meanwhile, Ryan starts to make a space for herself in the Batwoman persona by customizing the suit.
It helps that everyone in Gotham has already noticed that their current guardian is clearly a different woman despite the common costume.
In an amusing wraparound of supervillain casting, our Zsasz, Alex Morf, portrayed Sykes on Season 5 of Fox's Gotham, where Anthony Carrigan played Victor Zsasz. Carrigan, keen-eyed Arrow-verse fans will note, also played Kyle Nimbus/The Mist on The Flash Season 1.
Like Carrigan's Zsasz, Morf actualizes the uber-assassin as chatty, likable, and pretty much unstoppable. Very much worth the cost...

Batwoman Season 2, Episode 3
In this week’s episode of Batwoman, a contract killer is let loose on Gotham, and Ryan has to stop them before they set their sights on Mary. I want to first give kudos to the writers for being intentionally inclusive with their verbiage but not self-congratulating when they are. Victor Zsasz (Alex Morf) calling themself a hitperson is a small but not insignificant thing. Zsasz, the killer in question, is a fun creep of the week, just committing murders all willy nilly and not bringing any politics or personal feelings to the job. Safiyah sends them after everyone who’s had contact with the Desert Rose—the magical healing plant that Alice stole and used to cure Mary after poisoning her—and they work their way through the kill list efficiently, before being thwarted by the newly re-wigged Batwoman. Batwoman season 2 will feature yet another iconic villain from Batman’s rogues gallery. It’s been clear from the references in the first run that crime boss Safiyah (who’ll be played by Shivaani Ghai) will be the big bad of the next outing of the Arrowverse series, but now EP Caroline Dries has dropped the bombshell that we can expect another main antagonist to arrive later in the season – none other than Roman Sionis Aka Black Mask.
The showrunner revealed the news to EW, ahead of the premiere this weekend. As well as the Safiyah plotline, new heroine Ryan Wilder will battle the False Face Society, too, Black Mask’s outfit from the comics, which will tighten “its grip on Gotham distributing a perilous new drug known as Snakebite.”
“We have a couple big bads this season,” Dries explained. “One, [who] we teed up midway through last season, is this woman Safiyah,...

Batwoman Season 2 is already in for some pretty big changes, with Javicia Leslie taking up the mantle of the Bat. Now, she’s got a villain to face, as well.
Alex Morf will be joining the cast of Batwoman as the vicious serial killer Victor Zsasz for the show’s second outing, according to reporting from EW. Morf makes the move to Batwoman from another Bat-adjacent show, Gotham, where he turned in a couple of episodes as Sykes, a gang leader during the No Man’s Land story. Morf’s resume is dotted with comic book shows, with a stint on Daredevil too.
Zsasz was created in the early 1990s by Norm Breyfogle and Alan Grant. In the comics, he’s a nihilistic serial killer, murdering people to liberate them from the pointlessness of the world, and carving a tally mark into his skin to commemorate their demise. He’s fairly...

Netflix is eyeing a barbaric new series: The streamer is developing a live-action drama based on the Conan the Barbarian character created by writer Robert E. Howard, our sister site Deadline reports. The project does not yet have a writer/showrunner attached to it.
A series about the fantasy icon was previously in development at Amazon in 2018. And of course, Conan has already appeared on screens both big and small in a number of forms, most famously in the films Conan the Barbarian (1982) and Conan the Destroyer (1984), both of which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. Batwoman is adding another of Gotham’s most infamous supervillains in season 2, as Entertainment Weekly has revealed that Victor Zsasz is coming to the Arrowverse series in its next run (which We Got This Covered first told you last month), with Alex Morf taking on the role of the crazed killer. Funnily enough, Morf already has history with the DC multiverse, as he played a gang leader named Sykes in the fifth and final season of Fox’s Gotham.
The official description for the character says he’s “a charismatic, skilled hitman with high, unpredictable energy. He proudly carves tally marks onto his skin for every victim he kills.” So, in other words, Batwoman will be delivering a very traditional take on the criminal. He’s the latest major comic book villain to arrive on the show, too, following the introduction of Hush in season 1.

Things get medieval in Gotham this week. Literally. Plus more BatCat, and did Joel Schumacher just get a shoutout?
This Gotham review contains spoilers.
Gotham Season 5 Episode 2
Gotham: It’s like Game of Thrones without dragons! Not really (if it was. Barbara would totes have dragons), but let’s give Gotham credit for creating this fiefdom like struggle for the suddenly very medieval modern city. The No Man’s Land status quo of Gotham is one hell of a story engine that could add some great dénouements to the multi-season members of the huge cast. It allows for the final season to be so much more than a baddie of the week type of deal and truly could turn the final season into a crazy ensemble piece. Gotham could be all that; but it isn’t. Not this week, anyway.

And just after complaining about those less-than gory fight sequences, we get some doozies in this one. John Healy (Alex Morf) reads like a cross between Walter Goggins, but when he was on Community, with a little bit of, well, Joss Whedon. His earnest request about bowling contrasts nicely with the next scene, where he snaps Mr. Prohaszka’s bones and smashes his head with a bowling ball. Well, he had to. A random 36-hour flashback shows that Turk Barrett promised him his revolver would work when it counted. I thought that flashback would be a whole episode aspect, and when it was just a onetime gag, it became my favorite bit in this already good episode — one that brings our villain into the fore, and lays out some ground rules for the Daredevil universe. But first, we get a new character thread: Ben Urich, a reporter at the New...
