Per Billboard, the arbitration ruled that King Records—founded by Colombian artist Kevin Roldán—must pay Castro more than $2 million and that Castro gets the rights to his music. Castro had filed three lawsuits and two remain active, a rep for Castro said.

Lately, Peso Pluma’s raspy twang seems to be everywhere. It’s there, creaking with grit and originality, on his Eslabón Armado hit “Ella Baila Sola,” which became the first regional Mexican song to reach the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100. (Fans have been so enamored by the way he croaks out “Bella!” in his opening verse that they’ve started a viral TikTok challenge, imitating the singer.) His distinct delivery on “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 55,” his collaboration with famed Argentine producer Bizarrap, drove the track to Number One on Spotify’s Global charts.

Karol G's New "Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season)" Is Drastically Different From the Original Album
There seems to be a subtle shift going on in reggaetón as of late. While 2022 and early 2023 saw the genre embrace a kind of eclectic, cross-genre experimentation (most visibly championed on Bad Bunny's critically acclaimed album "Un Verano Sin Ti"), the tail end of this year has seen the pendulum shift toward simplicity and a focus that characterized reggaetón's earlier years. Maybe it's due to the rise of the alt-perreo genre and experimentally inclined artists like RaiNao and Pink Pablo. Or maybe the recent resurgence of old-school artists like Chencho, Maldy, Jowell & Randy, and Tego Calderón has added a healthy dose of nostalgia to the zeitgeist. But regardless of the specific catalyst, many of today's most popular reggaetoneros are harkening back to the genre's roots. With her latest album, "Mañana Será Bonita (Bichota Season)," Karol G trades in the upbeat pop-reggaetón sound that characterized the original "Mañana Será Bonita" for...

Ryan Castro’s music has been pirated quite a bit. But instead of letting that stop him, he’s used it as inspiration. On Wednesday, Castro released his EP Los Piratas, a project “inspired by music piracy,” and premiered the music video for his single “Marbella” with Rolling Stone.
“We’ve had a lot of the songs that are on this EP for a long time, more than a year, and the fans recognize them. They’ve heard snippets of the songs and pirated them,” he tells Rolling Stone. “So...

Despues de las 12, anything can happen — even hearing a música Mexicana artist perform on a reggaeton track. That happened on Thursday, when Kim Loaiza and Ovi premiered the music video for their song “Después de las 12,” which features a verse from Grupo Firme’s Eduin Caz and one from Chilean artist Pailita.
In a video directed by Guillermo Figueredo, the four artists hang out in a futuristic warehouse as Loaiza sings from inside a glass cage, surrounded by women taking photos of her. The end of the video shows Loaiza...

The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards were all about that bass Sunday night, and Flea didn’t have a lot to do with it. “VMAs, did you think I wasn’t gonna shake my ass tonight?” asked Anitta, very rhetorically, in the middle of her routine — and while most viewers were probably grateful for her concern for our concern, there was no need to fear she’d be the show’s outlier. Even the rock bands that were booked seemed to want to go into the show ass-forwards; hello, Måneskin cheek skin. (The cameras seemed to want to cut away from that singer’s pasty bottom; as you could almost hear the editors channeling Lisa Kudrow’s Aunt Sassy.)
The only thing surprising in this regard, really, was the amount of robot ass in the show. Digital effects were sometimes used to bolster the supply of background dancers, or to provide giant setpieces,...

An Ar booty! J Balvin and Ryan Castro represented Colombia at the MTV VMAs. On Sunday, the reggaetón stars performed their recent single “Nivel de Perreo” as an augmented reality-built woman (with an augmented reality booty) shook her behind to the duo’s collaboration.
Balvin in a zebra print outfit and Castro with a muppet-like red sweatshirt — reminiscent of Balvin’s Vibras LP cover — took the stage to sing their summer single as both the giant Ar lady (and a set of dancers) showed off their assets to the song’s infectious beat.

J Balvin knows a thing or two about starting from the bottom in the United States. Before becoming a staple in reggaetón, he was Jose Álvaro Osorio, an undocumented worker painting houses, trying to make a living in the U.S.
Fast-forward to 2022, and Balvin — now a Grammy-nominated musician with countless hits — has found a way to give back to his roots.
On Tuesday, Miller Lite announced a new iteration of the brand’s partnership with Balvin: a streetwear collection, named BodegaWear, designed for the runs to the neighborhood convenience store.

Happy birthday, Tupac Shakur -- the late rapper would've turned 41 years old on June 16 -- that is, if he's actually dead, as many conspiracy theories deny. No, being back in hologram form does not count.
Tupac fans -- even some famous ones -- paid their respects to the musician on Twitter, reminding everyone of his lost talent and potential. So crank up the "California Love," make sure you have some cash squirreled away for the inevitable hologram tour, and honor Shakur, who was born on June 16, 1971 and tragically gunned down in Las Vegas, Nv in September of 1996.
Pictured: Hologram "Tupac" performing with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg at Coachella.
Check out what people are saying about Tupac's birthday:

Writer/director Miles Trahan (In Dreams — 2009 Short Film) delivers Bad Things, a seven-minute short drama about two guys dumping a dead body in the woods. Wait… scratch that. This films not just about two guys disposing of a corpse. Sure, that.s what actually takes place on screen, but the devil is in the details, as they say.
Bad Things opens on two men, Peter (played by Ryan Castro, Never Too Late) and Paul (played by Justin Serrano), both in white shirts covered in blood removing a dead man from the trunk of their car. Peter and Paul carry on about faith and God, karma and redemption, taking two opposing viewpoints on the subject of understanding it all… the easy way, and the hard way.
The pleasant, peaceful setting of the woods in autumn daylight and birds chirping, contrasts with the darker deed being done. While the natural assumption would...
