Trust is a tricky thing in stories: you have to trust the person telling the story will do a good job to keep rewarding that person with your attention.
Brian K. Vaughan had my trust and hugely lost it, in his Ex Machina series with artist Tony Harris, and I’ve been giving each of his projects the side-eye since then, watching to see if the same thing would recur. That’s probably not fair, and it might have made my posts on the earlier Saga books — volumes one , two , three , four, five , and six — less useful than they could be.
But there’s an essential tension in a standalone, ongoing comic book: is this one story, or is it a series of stories? Most comics tell several stories in a row: sometimes simply, with a story in each issue, and sometimes complexly, across dozens of issues of dozens of...

This week, we brought word that Dark Knight III: The Master Race would be undergoing a slight name change upon its release as a collected edition, effectively being rechristened as Batman: The Dark Knight: The Master Race. Well, it appears that trend will continue with a companion book set to arrive this September.
If you’ve been keeping up with the threequel to Frank Miller’s immortal classic The Dark Knight Returns – or at least news pertaining to it – you’re likely aware that this limited series has seen an obscene amount of variant covers, particularly for the first couple issues. Normally, stuff like this appears as supplemental material in the back of its relevant trade, but if that were the case with this story, the book would’ve been as thick as the Yellow Pages.

The Lost Boys was a landmark of ‘80s horror, released at a time when the two Coreys were forces to be reckoned with at the box office and big hair was the name of the game. Despite bringing in $32 million at the box office on a budget of $8.5 million, a sequel didn’t emerge until 2008, when the direct-to-dvd followup The Lost Boys: The Tribe (starring original cast member Corey Feldman, with a cameo by the late Corey Haim) was released to withering reviews but impressive numbers, with nearly $6 million in sales for Warner Premiere. That was followed by 2010’s The Lost Boys: The Thirst, also starring Feldman. Here’s the thing: I doubt many fans of the first movie consider the two direct-to-dvd followups to be worthy successors to the Joel Schumacher-directed original, which was critically well-received at the time and remains a beloved title to this day. Here...

On the run up to The Force Awakens, many questions were asked of our return to a galaxy far, far away. “Who are Rey and Finn?”. “What’s Kylo Ren’s connection to Darth Vader?”. “Are they really wheeling out another Death Star?”. Some of these questions were answered, and begat more questions. But the one everyone wanted answered, concerning why everyone’s favourite golden protocol droid was sporting an ill fitting red arm, Jj Abrams pulled a Lost and kept the answer tantalisingly out of reach. But now we finally have our answer, all thanks to a comic. A one shot in fact, entitled Star Wars: C-3Po #1 coming from the legendary creative team of writer James Robinson and artist Tony Harris, responsible for Starman, one of the best series in DC Comics' long history. This one shot is actually a deep and heart breaking examination of droids,...

From a completely cynical perspective, the reason C-3Po has a red arm in Star Wars: The Force Awakens is to make it easier for Disney to sell a new wave of toys featuring the droid. However, a new comic book from Marvel by James Robinson and Tony Harris offers up a very emotional and surprising

“Star Wars” has finally answered one of the biggest questions fans had after watching “The Force Awakens.” The recently released “Star Wars: C-3Po Number 1,” a Marvel comic book by James Robinson, Tony Harris, and Joe Caramagna, reveals how C-3Po got that red arm. In the comic, 3Po and several other Resistance droids crash land on a planet with a captive First Order droid named Omri, who possesses information vital to the Resistance. One of the most heart-warming moments of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was seeing C-3Po back on the big screen once again. But when he appeared, everyone immediately noticed that there was one huge difference to the droid. He suddenly had a red arm. Obviously with so much going on in The Force Awakens there wasn.t time to explain what happened to C-3Po. But your minds can now be put to rest, because we.ve finally learned exactly how C-3Po lost his arm. And, as you probably expected, it.s a doozy of a story. The details surrounding C-3Po.s injury were revealed in the Marvel one-shot comic Star Wars: C-3Po #1, which was created by James Robinson, Tony Harris, and Joe Caramagna. On October 21, 2015, I woke up in my Atlantic Beach home around 7:00 Am. I got dressed, made sure my bags were packed, ate a light breakfast, and took off in my car. Today was my trip to Melbourne, Florida where I would be meeting my friend Jade, and we both would be going to Famous Faces & Funnies for a Skype Q&A with the one and only Brian K. Vaughan.
Brian K. Vaughan is the Eisner-award winning writer of The Runaways (with Adrian Alphona) for Marvel; Y: The Last Man (with Pia Guerra), Ex Machina (with Tony Harris), Pride of Baghdad (with Niko Henrichon) for DC/Vertigo; Saga (with Fiona Staples) and We Stand On Guard (with Steve Skorce) for Image. Vaughan’s creator-owned content is not only voluminous but high quality, as evidenced by critical praise and accolades. He mostly writes science fiction with healthy doses of drama and social/political commentary.

Even more official "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" promotional art has been released this holiday weekend with further looks at Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and the First Order Stormtroopers.
The pics come as two other bits of "Star Wars" related news hits. First up, it has been confirmed that the upcoming comic one-shot "Star Wars Special: C-3Po #1" will explain why C-3Po ended up with the red arm he's been seen sporting in 'The Force Awakens'. The comic, penned and illustrated by Tony Harris and James Robinson, will deal with a solo adventure of the character.
Meanwhile, a photo of a signed poster has indicated that "Hannibal" star Mads Mikkelsen will be playing a character named Galen in Gareth Edwards' upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" spin-off film. The actor has been previously said to play a very important person in the film, but not a villain.

As we all know Marvel and Star Wars teamed up and has been releasing new series of Star Wars comics that help tie in the previous films to the long-awaited The Force Awakens. Well, today Marvel has announced their new one-shot series starring none other than the galaxy's best humanoid protocol droid, C-3Po! The comic will be called Star Wars Special: C-3Po #1. The comic will go on to explain as to how and why C-3Po ended up with the red arm as he goes on a solo adventure. I don't know about you, but I am very excited to see C-3Po get himself into some trouble again. If that wasn't great enough, the comic is to be written and illustrated by the award-winning team of Tony Harris and James Robinson. Last time this team was together was almost 18 years ago! "That’s a really exciting part of doing this story,...

Tonight's episode, kicked off with, host Chris Harrison, telling Britt she lost the vote to become the next Bachelorette and was out of here after shedding a few tears. Then Chris went and told the fabulous Kaitlyn that she was the new Bachelorette as it should've been in the first damn place. Yay!!! After that, Kaitlyn wasted no time getting back to business, flirting up her fellas. She shared a few, really steamy kisses with a couple of them. One guy actually told Kaitlyn he voted for Britt, but still wanted to stay, like Wtf? Keep your mouth shut. Anyways, the rose ceremony came next. During the ceremony, Brady Toops pulled Kaitlyn to the side to tell her, he wanted to go hunt down Britt, so he was out. However, I think they're going to revisit that in a future episode. From there, Kaitlyn ended up getting rid of: Shawn Evans,...

Recently, our trusty source, Reality Steve, delivered some very revealing spoilers for the upcoming "Bachelorette 2015" episode 2, and it sounds very interesting as it'll be a continuation of episode 1 where they will finally reveal that my homegirl, Kaitlyn, beat out awful Britt to be the one and only Bachelorette this season. Yay!! After, Kaitlyn is proclaimed the winner, Kaitlyn will engage in another cocktail party with the fellas and end up giving Shawn Booth an early, first impression rose. After that, Kaitlyn will make Shawn Evans, Ryan McDill (asked to leave before the rose ceremony), Josh Seiter, David, and Bradley Cox very unhappy men by sending them packing. Also, at one point, one of the guys, Brady Toops, will interrupt the rose ceremony and tell Kaitlyn, he had more of a connection with Britt, and basically split to go get her. Oh well. No sweat off Kaitlyn's back as she'll have...

DC Comics has released four great variant covers that feature art inspired by the movie posters for Warner Bros. films. This is all part of a bigger plan from the comic publisher in which every month they will have a theme for variant covers that will be created and released. The month of March in 2015 will focus on the movies of WB, and the four covers you see here are the first of many to come. They were based on the movies 300, Harry Potter, The Fugitive, and Super Fly.

This is the first fan poster that I’ve seen made for Star Wars: The Force Awakens since the title was officially announced. It was created by artist Tony Harris who says,
“Okay, so I been ruminatin' on this one for a while in my side time. So not having seen Anything from the new film, that is the mindset took with this 'Fan Poster"! Enjoy, and I intend on painting this.”
This poster turned out great. It has an epic feel to it. I can’t wait to see the first official poster for this movie by Drew Struzan. He was apparently asked to design the poster for it last year....

Chin Music # 1
Written By Steve Niles
Art by Tony Harris
Letters by Bill Tortolini
Published by Image Comics
First issues are a balancing act. You want to tell your audience enough about what’s going on to get them interested, but not tell them so much that there isn’t a mystery going on. Really, it’s like a first date. You want to keep some mystery, but not so much that you come across as just being obtuse. Also don’t show her your Transformers collection too soon. Learned that one the hard way.
Although it does seem like a really nice comic, “Chin Music”, Written by Steve Niles and with art by Tony Harris, is getting a kiss on the cheek this evening, owing mostly to the fact that over the entire first issue it rarely, if ever, deigns to tell the reader just what the holy heck is going on.

Here’s one line about nearly every comic I enjoyed this week. I won’t be writing a column over the holidays, so I’ll see all you monster kids in the New Year.
Like a rock opera in scope, Avengers #2 parades across its pages with artistic and dramatic perfection.
In Journey Into Mystery #647, not even silk words can soften Sif’s rough grudge against men,
While a mysterious contagion guts Nowhere Men #2, punctuated by fake magazine covers confirming science is both enemy and friend.
Transfusion #2 continues its bleak march into post-apocalyptic beauty. Who knows how this one will end?
All-new X-men #4 is like that dream when you try to go back or forward in time and make things right, only nobody believes you.
Witch Doctor: Malpractice #2 is a horror-humor mashup that wins, like Hellraiser meets Doctor Who.
And Hawkeye #6, man. It’s sad. I’m emo. Emotionally rounded fun?...

What my followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ saw today: • Comic Book Illustrator Tony Harris Hates Women (Cosplayers) Professional nerd dude lashes out at women who (he thinks) are only pretending to be nerds. Because, um, women like hanging around charmers like this guy? Logic fail. • There used to be a UK film rating "H," for "horrific." I don't think they meant in the Adam Sandler way. "'H' signifies that the film has been passed as 'Horrific'". 1940s film classification board: • No. No, he isn't. Channing Tatum named Sexiest Man Alive • Whoa. Image Comics has announced that it will publish Tony Harris's Roundeye. "It's a tragic tale in the tradition of Japanese folk tales, but the overall themes here are a mirror to my relationship with my wife. (more)...

This week, Idw Publishing released the first issue of Stephen King and Joe Hill’s Road Rage. We have a synopsis of the 4-issue miniseries, along with cover art and preview pages:
“The Tribe is more than a motorcycle club – it’s a family. Literally, since club leader Vince rides alongside his son Race, as well as fellow Viet Nam vet Lemmy and a passle of others. They’ve been together a long time, these two generations of riders. But never before have they seen the kind of trouble they’re about to run up against.
War is easy—lines are drawn, sides are chosen. But when the club is attacked on a lonely highway road by a trucker with unknown but quite murderous intent, their hard-scrabble existence becomes one of pure survival. And not all of ‘em are going to make it through.

It’s that time again… here are the preview materials for DC Comics releases for May 2012.
As you can see, DC is clearly getting excited about the imminent arrival of The Dark Knight Rises with new movie statues showing Anne Hathaway, Christian Bale, and Tom Hardy, the return of Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham’s Batman Incorporated and the long awaited arrival of Batman: Earth One by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, and the Talon appearing in every single Batman book this month… and even All-Star Western?
Plus, with the return of Earth One, we also get the return of Earth Two– and the return of the World’s Finest.
Shall we get into it? Let’s!
As always, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

We hold in our hands the covers for DC Comics this March. As a child of four can plainly see, these comics have been hermetically sealed in a Cgc 9.8 slab, and they’ve been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar under a giant pile of Christmas tinsel since noon today.
What do we have worth noting? The first fill-in artist on Justice League, although Gene Ha is certainly no slouch in that department. We also have new writers on Firestorm and Green Arrow, new backups in Justice League and Action Comics, and the DC 52 hits lucky number 7.
Shall we see who is the fariest of them all? Oh indeedy, let’s do!
As usual, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

We hold in our hands the covers for DC Comics this February. As a child of four can plainly see, these comics have been hermetically sealed in a Cgc 9.9 slab, and they’ve been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar under a giant stack of returned copies of Holy Terror since noon today.
What do we have worth noting? The new look of Darkseid, and we’re far enough into the new 52 books that it’s time for Batman to start crossing over in all of them. Plus Mara Jade, the red-haired assassin who fell in love with her blond-haired man she was sent to kill– oh, I’m sorry, that’s from Star Wars. This is Mera in a jade outfit. Our mistake.
Shall we? Surely!
As usual, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.
