Prior to its screening, the makers of the Abhishek Bannerjee-starrer film ‘Stolen’ released the clip of what is one of the movie’s most special scenes. One of its darkest moments, the actor called it the film’s “most emotionally painful scene.”
A realistic and dark crime-thriller, ‘Stolen’ is based on true events and delves into profound themes such as child abductions, spread of misinformation, mob mentality, public lynching, organ trafficking, and societal divisions.
‘Stolen’ is focused on the abduction of a five-month old child which belongs to an impoverished tribal woman. Witnessing this harrowing event, the wealthy brothers Gautam and Raman decide to help her out. As the investigation into this kidnapping deepens, many dark angles of society that remain hidden under our noses are revealed.
The clip is a special one which provides viewers with a brief but intense look into the film’s darker aspects, hyping up the anticipation.

Director Karan Tejpal’s feature film debut “Stolen” is a nail-biting thriller about two privileged, big-city boys who unwittingly embark on a harrowing adventure as they help an impoverished young woman find her kidnapped baby in rural India.
The film, which is produced by Gaurav Dhingra’s Jungle Book Studio (Toronto titles “Angry Indian Goddesses” and “Faith Connections”), is also a commentary on the alarming number of child abductions in India in recent years, and the explosion of often misguided vigilantism that accompanied the widespread adoption of instant messaging apps, particularly in rural areas.
The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, earned a special mention in the Feature Film Competition at the Zurich Film Festival this week, and heads next to the BFI London fest.

It’s late at night on the station platform where Jumpha (Mia Maelzer) has taken shelter with her baby for the night. She is asleep when her little girl is taken from her arms, an event that will set in motion a thriller that snowballs as it goes, although subtlety is never its strong point. Gautam (Abhishek Banerjee) is also asleep at the station, although in the distinctly more plush surroundings of a high-end SUV. He’s waiting for his brother Raman (Shubham) to arrive for their mother’s wedding. This is the brisk set-up for Karan Tejpal’s debut feature, which sets the haves and have nots of Indian society on a collision course.
Raman arrives just in time to catch a glimpse of the baby snatcher but soon finds himself a suspect in the kidnapping. It's a melodramatic start that indicates neither the rich nor the poor get a lot of help.

Jaipur, June 15 (Ians) The Telugu Talons beat Delhi Panzers 26-23 in Match 16 of the Premier Handball League match at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium, here on Thursday. The match was a gruelling tactical battle, which was a delight to watch for the neutrals.
Telugu and Delhi started the game at a blistering pace as both teams were looking to establish a lead. Both teams were evenly matched in the opening minutes of the game. However, a couple of saves from Rahul Tk in the Talons goal saw his team take the lead.
Naseeb and Kailash Patel were being fed dangerous balls by Davinder Singh Bhullar and were scoring with venomous shots from the wings, which saw the Talons extend their lead. The Panzers came back into the game as they got into their attacking groove thanks to Deepak Ahlawat, Bhupender Ghanghas and Jasmeet Singh who scored back-to-back goals to cut short the deficit.

Kochi, Feb 25 (Ians) Kochi Blue Spikers stunned Calicut Heroes to get their first win in the second season of the Prime Volleyball League (Pvl), beating the derby rivals 15-13, 14-15, 12-15, 15-7, 15-11 at the Regional Sports Centre, here on Saturday.
Erin Varghese was named as the player of the match.
As soon as the bell rang, Mohan Ukkrapandian ran a combination play with Ashwin Raj and Calicut Heroes showcasing their aggressive intentions. Calicut’s serve errors continued once again with Ashwin, Sandoval, and Matt Hilling all serving wide.
With soft-serve starts, Kochi started involving Shubham Chaudhary and Erin Varghese in attacks and the strategy worked. Abhinav stood tall and strong in the middle and helped Spikers take the lead. As Jerome Vinith started getting involved in Calicut’s attacks, Kochi’s defence struggled. Sandoval’s two-man block line came to the party and stopped Erin’s attacks. Jerome’s...

Bhubaneswar, Jan 1 (Ians) Odisha Fc head coach Josep Gombau urged his players to exploit their opponent’s weaknesses as his side faces Mumbai City Fc in an Indian Super League (Isl) 2022-23 match at the Kalinga Stadium, here on Monday.
In a contrasting set of scenarios, the Kalinga Warriors — who are unbeaten at home, having played five games, winning four and drawing one — face a strong Mumbai City Fc side that remains the only unbeaten team in the league, which again is an impressive feat going into the second half of the season.
Gombau’s men have been lacking the final touch when it comes to finishing their goal-scoring chances. Out of the top six teams in the league standings, his side has scored the least amount of goals (15) in the season so far. They do control the majority of the game, but they need to start firing up on the offensive front.
