A raucous comedy from playwright Camilla Whitehill, “Big Mood” teams “Bridgerton” and “Derry Girls” alum Nicola Coughlan with ‘It’s a Sin’ star Lydia West to dive headlong into mental illness and friendship. Fremantle, heading global distribution, will showcase the project in Cannes as part of its Mipcom slate. The market kicks off Oct.16.
A divinely sardonic and captivating laugh riot, the upcoming Channel 4 series presents an earnest portrait of mania and biologically-induced despair in a world where mental health has been commodified and sanitized for ease of consumption. Whitehill manages a highly nuanced depiction of Coughlan’s Maggie, whose bipolar pendulum swings erratically, as she tries desperately to regain control of her fleeting agency while clinging tightly to longtime friend Eddie, played by West.
“We’ve done a lot of patting ourselves on the back as a society, saying, ‘We’re really facing mental health,’ but we’re not.

Once Season 2 premieres on PBS on Sunday, October 15, others will soon learn what Nicola Walker’s Annika Strandhed told viewers in one of her fourth-wall-breaking moments: that a detective on her team, Michael McAndrews (Jamie Sives), is the father of her teenage daughter, Morgan (Silvie Furneaux). The departure midway through the six-episode season of one detective on Annika’s team, Tyrone Clarke, ...

If you have to admire commitment – and you do – then you have to admire Wolf, a new BBC detective series from the producers of Sherlock, adapted from the seventh book in Mo Hayder’s Jack Caffery novels. From its traumatised detective to its scenery-chewing baddies, Wolf is fully committed to the pulp crime genre. Don’t go in expecting realism. You won’t find it.
You will find Ukweli Roach as Jack Caffery, a London Di settling in back home after a few years working in Wales. Roach makes a plausible enough lead, and a useful straight man to counter the madness elsewhere. Not that Caffery doesn’t come with his own slice of that.

Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you haven’t watched Wednesday’s return episode of Blindspot.
Well, that was a doozy.
Blindspot returned for the remainder of the second season on Wednesday night, with an episode that had everything you’d want from the action drama: an explosive death, another internal leak, an ultimatum that may change the team dynamic, and an episode-ending abduction.
Jane (Jaimie Alexander), Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and company finally gained an upper hand against Shepherd (Michelle Hurd) and Sandstorm, after learning that Shepherd implanted a bug in Patterson’s (Ashley Johnson) tooth in order for her to gain significant intel. After spreading misinformation to lure Shepherd’s minions into a trap, Patterson came face to face with her ex and mole, Borden (Ukweli Roach), only to witness Borden sacrifice himself by blowing up the cabin.

Rich Dotcom has become one of Blindspot's best-known characters. Blindspot Season 2 Episode 14 brought back the eccentric genius played by Ennis Esmer for the third time, and like the last two times, his presence turned the show into something completely different.
"Borrow or Rob" was more about Rich and his story than anything having to do with the FBI. It opened with a flashback showing Rich and his partners as ne'er do well college students, and then naturally those classmates wound up being the bad guys in the case of the week.
That's great if you're a Rich Dotcom fan. If you're not, this episode probably dragged for you.
Rich certainly has his moments. His weird obsession with Kurt Weller allows for Sullivan Stapleton's comedic talents to come out, and Esmer is a great person for him to play off of.

Season 2 of Blindspot has been hit and miss. With Blindspot Season 2 Episode 10, the show starts to put itself back on the right track, but still has some underlying concerns to fix even as it spins its story off in a new direction.
"Nor I, Nigel, Aka Leg In Iron" picks up immediately after the events Blindspot Season 2 Episode 9. It's literally right afterward – Weller and Nas still have dirt on their clothes from the explosion that killed a dozen FBI agents, and Blindspot wastes no time in showing us that it was Patterson who took the bullet.
It's really not a shocking reveal if you think about it. The victim was either Patterson or Borden, and Patterson is the only one that has any true emotional value to the audience anymore. Now that we know that Borden is Sandstorm's mole we don't care if he gets shot, set on fire or stuffed into another duffel bag.

The action drama picked up right where it left off in Wednesday’s action-packed winter premiere, answering the cliffhanger in question: Who got shot? Turns out, the unlikely victim was Patterson (Ashley Johnson), shot in the stomach by her ex-lover, Borden (Ukweli Roach), who held her hostage with help from Shepherd (Michelle Hurd), who was seeking answers.
Jane (Jaimie Alexander), meanwhile, struggled over her decision to wipe away Roman’s (Luke Mitchell) memory and chose to lie about who erased his memories, as the FBI starts the arduous process of figuring out how best to use Roman as their asset. On face value Blindspot Season 2 Episode 9 is a humdinger of a midseason finale. There's an exploding building, flashbacks to a drone attack, main characters in peril and a lot of dramatic yelling. It's as big and as busy as you'd expect from a fall finale - but it's not perfect.
"Why Let Cooler Pasture Deform" is Season 2 of Blindspot in a nutshell. It has a great heart and good intentions, but it's ultimately still kind of uneven. Given that the season has been looking for itself it's no surprise that this episode feels similarly unfinished.
This episode does almost everything that it's expected to do. It has Sandstorm making a big move, Jane's being a triple agent for the FBI uncovered by Shepherd, and a showdown with the double agent working inside the team, plus a cliffhanger ending to let the audience chew on until January.
From an entertainment standpoint it's a satisfying watch.

What just happened?!
After teasing a double agent among the Blindspot team, the identity of the FBI mole was revealed in the series' fall finale: the unassuming psychiatrist Dr. Robert Borden (Ukweli Roach). Turns out, he had a history with Jane (Jaimie Alexander) years before she was found tatted up in the middle of New York City in the pilot, which turned out to be the catalyst for the creation of Sandstorm. Making matters worse, Borden’s betrayal also effectively ends his romance with Patterson (Ashley Johnson).

Blindspot has been a generally fantastic show since it premiered 13 months ago, but Blindspot Season 2 Episode 6 is an honest head-scratcher.
"Her Spy's Mind" feels like what the series thinks it needs to do rather than what it actually should do to keep its place as one of TV's best dramas.
I'm a prisoner of the Bulgarian government...I'm a freakin' patsy!
Winter Permalink: I'm a prisoner of the Bulgarian government...I'm a freakin' patsy! Added: October 19, 2016
The main plot concerns Weller and Nas finally locating Nsa mole Douglas Winter, who is played by the fantastic P.J. Byrne from Vinyl and Intelligence. Honestly, P.J. Byrne is probably the best thing about this episode. His Winter understandably freaks out non-stop because he wasn't working with Mayfair after all; he was framed by Roman and Shepherd.
The realization that Mayfair doesn't have one last answer to give him sends Weller into a tailspin.

So far the second season of Blindspot has been all about the characters dealing with the new way the world looks after the revelations at the end of Season 1.
Jane's learned her real identity, Weller's coping with his father being a murderer, the rest of the team is back to not trusting Jane and the shadowy government forces are now represented by Nas Kamal.
Blindspot Season 2 Episode 3 is continuing along those lines, but it's also finally starting to move away from that as a focus and back into the actual investigating of cases.
"Hero Fears Imminent Rot" does a solid job of keeping the tension up about the bomb plot and also getting the other members of the team involved in the crime-solving. As Patterson (Ashley Johnson) noted earlier this season we can't always rely on Nas and her magic phone, just like we couldn't always rely on Jane and her special abilities.
