Yellowjackets knows viewers are literally starving for season three.
So on Tuesday, the hit Showtime series played on its cannibalistic (er, survivalist) series theme by sharing a coy announcement that production has begun on the forthcoming third season.
“We know you’re starving… #Yellowjackets Season 3 is officially in production,” read a caption on Instagram (below). Among the series of photos is a shot of the episode 301 script.
The premiere of season three is written by the showrunning trio of co-creators Bart Nickerson and Ashley Lyle with Jonathan Lisco. Nickerson, making his directorial debut, helms the episode. Lisco will also be making his debut behind the camera when he directs episode 303.
Other shots in the set indicate a return to the wilderness, which is where the past timeline in the dual timeline series will continue to play out. Season three picks up after the shocking cliffhanger ending that saw the survivors...

This year’s Emmy Awards were all about TV reunions, while audiences around the country got to see the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Cheers” reunite, there were some unofficial ones that didn’t make the live broadcast.
Take the “Yellowjackets” cast and crew, who got back together before the show started.
The show was nominated for two Emmys including best drama series and lead actress in a drama for Melanie Lynskey. Hours before the show aired, the teen cast including Liv Hewson, Courtney Eaton, Sophie Nélisse, Sammi Hanratty and Kevin Alves had gathered in the lobby, chatting and taking selfies before doors to the main theater were open. They were joined by Warren Kole and later director Karyn Kusama and showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, as well as Tawny Cypress.
Yes, season 3 is being written and the show is expected to be back in production in late May.

Fans of Showtime‘s hit drama series Yellowjackets have a long wait ahead of them, as Deadline reports that the third season will not be premiering until 2025. This is due to the production delays caused by the WGA and SAG strikes last summer, with pre-production on the psychological drama shut down just one day after the WGA strike began in May. According to Deadline, the writers room for the show reopened in September. Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets follows a high school girls’ soccer team involved in a plane crash in 1996 and the aftermath of the event years later. It stars Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell in lead roles. Despite the long wait until a new season, the cast has been keeping fans invested by teasing what’s to come, with Steven Krueger, who plays Coach Ben, anticipating “the wildest,...

When can you expect “Yellowjackets” to return to Showtime? We’ve got good news and bad news on that front. The bad news? “Yellowjackets” Season 3 isn’t expected until 2025.
The good news? As we learned last summer, a special bonus episode of “Yellowjackets” is headed our way before Season 3, so that should help tide us over until Season 3 proper!
The latest word on “Yellowjackets” Season 3 comes courtesy of Deadline today. The site notes that the season has been delayed to 2025 due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that largely brought Hollywood to a halt this past year. But the writers room for “Yellowjackets” opened back up in September, so it’s only a matter of time before news starts trickling in.
Stay tuned for more on Season 3 as we learn it.
“Yellowjackets” Season 2 was nominated for a few big awards at this year’s Primetime Emmys, which aired just last night.

Samantha Hanratty still hasn’t seen any scripts for the third season of Yellowjackets, but she has some thoughts about where the group is headed in the series’ younger timeline.
In the 1996 wilderness, the cabin that had been sheltering the Yellowjackets team survivors went up in flames. What was Hanratty’s first thought when she saw that they were left in the dead of winter without a roof over their heads?
“I’m screwed,” she recalled when speaking to The Hollywood Reporter on the 2023 Emmys red carpet. “I’m screwed, because now I’m going to be so dirty. That’s all I keep thinking about, is how filthy we’re going to get. Because now we have no shelter at all. I’m going to be cold. I’m going to be dirty. And now we have nowhere to wash off our blood. So, we’re going to be gross.

While fans of the Showtime series Yellowjackets (read our review of season 2 Here) patiently wait to see the bonus episode that’s going to air sometime between the second and third seasons, showrunners Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco have confirmed that they and the writers that populate the show’s writing room are deep into the writing process on Yellowjackets season 3.

“Yellowjackets” showrunners Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson and Jonathan Lisco gave an update on the status of Season 3 during a Q&a for SAG-AFTRA nomination committee members on Wednesday night.

Karyn Kusama is one of many executive producers on Showtime’s blockbuster dual-timeline drama about the survivors of a plane crash, but she also has a very singular connection to the series: She directed both the pilot and the most recent season finale. Two years ago, she was tasked with introducing the world to the group of teenagers and their present-day adult counterparts, laying the groundwork for a show full of pathos, mystery and needle drops; this year, she shepherded the death of a beloved character (played by Juliette Lewis). She called THR fresh from a much-needed summer vacation to discuss some select season two moments and what she’d like to see for the future of Yellowjackets.

Somehow, Season 2 of Showtime’s hit drama “Yellowjackets” managed to keep its sense of humor, even as the series’ story got darker and, yes, it finally went full cannibal. It’s all about balancing the tone, which is something executive producer Karyn Kusama helped set last season as director of the show’s pilot.
Kusama tells Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast that the “Yellowjackets” balance of shock and guffaw comes out of the visions of executive producers/showrunners Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson and Jonathan Lisco. “They’ve always understood a tone that I really love myself, which is a kind of adrenalized intense experience that sometimes makes you feel like you need to laugh because you’re so nervous.”

“Yellowjackets” season two may have officially wrapped on Showtime, but meat is still on the menu. The Ten-time Emmy nominated series heads home to DVD this October.
Look for “Yellowjackets” season two on DVD on October 10, 2023, from Paramount Home Entertainment. The DVD features all 9 episodes of the second season, and exclusive bonus content.
The series was created by Ashley Lyle & Bart Nickerson (“Narcos”), described as being “equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama.”
“Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.

It’s June 15, ballots are out and Emmy voting is underway. Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here to break down the ballots, the surprising submissions, the surprising omissions and more.
Other than Best Comedy Series and Best Drama Series, which are fixed at eight slots, the number of slots in categories is determined by the number of submissions. And unfortunately, it’s tough luck for the series regulars in comedy as the lead categories are going from six to five slots and the supporting one are going from eight to seven after missing the thresholds. That makes one of these categories easy to predict, but who will we drop from the others?

Last year’s breakout hit “Yellowjackets” swarmed awards season with seven Emmy nominations including Best Drama Series in 2022. The Showtime drama is looking to outperform those numbers this year by submitting 18 actors for consideration from its Season 2 cast. The Emmy ballots were officially unveiled on the Television Academy’s website on June 15, the same day nominations-round voting began (it will conclude on June 26 at 10:00 p.m.).

"Yellowjackets" was renewed for season three before the second season even premiered this spring, promising fans more chaos, cults, and cannibalism. Showtime confirmed season three in December 2022. The show's creators, Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, have planned for the story of the ill-fated New Jersey soccer champs to be told over the course of five seasons, so the next season will put the story over the halfway mark.
But when the third season will finally air is, unfortunately, a huge unknown thanks to the ongoing writers' strike. Back in March, Lyle and Nickerson told The Hollywood Reporter that they were trying to start writing the new season before the strike began. "The possibility of the strike is very real. All we can do is keep moving forward until we have to put our pencils down," Lyle said. She added that the writers' room would begin officially meeting in April.

In a Twitter thread Thursday, Co-Creator Ashley Lyle promised a “bonus episode between seasons” of the Showtime drama. Yellowjackets was renewed for a third season in December, before the second season premiered in March.
Noooo. Go to bed! Get some rest! There will be a bonus episode between seasons, but I love you guys and I don’t want y’all to lose sleep thinking it’s tonight.

A spokesperson for the drama said no further information was available.
Season 2 of Yellowjackets came to an end over the weekend and drew 1.5 million total viewers over its premiere weekend based on Nielsen, comScore, and internal streaming data. The season 2 finale marks the second most-streamed Showtime original season finale ever, behind only Dexter: New Blood.

In the wake of last week’s Season 2 finale of “Yellowjackets,” which burned down a central location, killed off a major character, and wrapped up several storylines, you may be wondering how much longer you have to wait for “Yellowjackets” Season 3. Unfortunately, the team can’t work on writing the scripts due to the ongoing WGA strike – the blame there is not on the strike, we have to stress, but rather the studios and streamers refusing to pay their writers fair wages – so it’s probably going to be quite a while before Season 3 enters our lives.
The good news? Co-creator/co-showrunner Ashley Lyle tweets this week that a special bonus episode of “Yellowjackets” is planned, and it’ll air Before the Season 3 premiere.
“There will be a bonus episode between seasons,” Lyle reveals.

The Yellowjackets are currently on strike, but they’re going to return with something for fans to buzz about. A bonus episode of Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” is expected to premiere before Season 3 officially premieres, showrunner Ashley Lyle has said on Twitter.
Lyle, who created the series with her husband Bart Nickerson and co-showruns with him and Jonathan Lisco, revealed the news when responding to a fan’s tweet claiming they stayed up late in the hope that a surprise bonus episode would premiere on the Showtime app.
“Noooo. Go to bed! Get some rest!” Lyle tweeted in response to the fan account. “There will be a bonus episode between seasons, but I love you guys and I don’t want y’all to lose sleep thinking it’s tonight.”
When contacted by IndieWire, Showtime declined to comment on Lyle’s announcement.

The show’s sophomore season may have been a snowcapped misery tour for its characters, but Showtime’s pitch-black drama about cannibalistic teen survivors — and their adult trauma — did not cease to shock and entertain over the course of its nine-episode run this spring.
“Yellowjackets” executive producer and director Karyn Kusama will join actress Christina Ricci and music supervisor Nora Felder at IndieWire’s annual Consider This event for a panel, this Saturday, June 3 in Los Angeles. The series clinched seven Emmy nominations in 2022, and some of the show’s biggest champions made an appearance at IndieWire’s 2022 Consider This brunch.

There are silly, insignificant "what if" games that one plays as a kid or even as an adult. I was not once asked what I would do if I were stranded in the wilderness or on an island. These "what if" questions become a harsh reality for the protagonists in Yellowjackets by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. As Yellowjackets returns for a second season, the fan-favorite group of survivors wraps themselves in an even larger cocoon of lies and risky scenarios before reuniting at Lottie's cult for the vicious and trailblazing doozy of a finale. At the same time, things get dire for the soccer team in the wild as the winter comes and there is no food. [This story contains major spoilers from the season two finale of Yellowjackets, “Storytelling.”]
The second season of Yellowjackets brought with it a tragic ending for one of the core castmates of the Showtime survival series created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson.
In the season finale, which released May 25, Juliette Lewis’ character, adult Natalie, was accidentally killed by Misty (Christina Ricci) during a wilderness reunion gone very wrong between the adult survivors of the 1996 plane crash that stranded the Yellowjackets soccer team when they were teenagers for 19 months, pushing them to cannibalism and other violence in order to survive. The series, which flips back and forth from 1996 to present day (and briefly introduced a third timeline of when the team is rescued), has featured Lewis as a series regular from the start. She makes up the core foursome of Natalie (Lewis), Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), Taissa (Tawney Cypress) and Misty, with Lottie (Simone Kessell) and Van (Lauren Ambrose) having expanded the adult survivors in season two.

Yellowjackets wrapped its second season on Showtime with a killer ending and a promise that things are going to get “weirder.”
In a Twitter thread posted Friday, Co-Creator Ashley Lyle expressed gratitude toward her cast and crew for working their “absolute asses off” on a season that went to extremes — including with a surprise death at the end of the season. As a result, some fans weren’t too pleased with how she, co-creator Bart Nickerson and their writers decided to wrap things up on the drama about a team of high school soccer players who survive a plane crash in the wilderness.
“So I know some people really enjoyed the Yellowjackets finale…and some people …. did not. Is getting death threats a showrunner right of passage?” Lyle wrote on Twitter. “Because I can live without that one! But I would love to take a moment to thank everyone who...

“Yellowjackets” fans are a dedicated group, and the finale, which included the tragic death of a key character, made some so angry that they threatened to kill one of the show’s co-creators, Ashley Lyle.
“So, I know some people really enjoyed the #Yellowjackets finale… and some people… did not (is getting death threats a showrunner rite of passage? Because i can live without that one!) But I would love to take a moment to thank everyone who came on this ride with us,” Lyle tweeted on Friday.
She added, “If it brought you joy, or made you laugh, or think, or cry, or just provided a respite from real life, that makes all the craziness feel worth while. All we can do is tell the story we needed to tell.”

The Season 2 finale of “Yellowjackets” left us with dropped jaws — and a lot of questions. We still don’t know who “pit girl” is, but we did see how things escalate to the point where the survivors began hunting each other to stay alive.
Although, as creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson told TheWrap before the Season 2 premiere, not every question will be answered. Said Nickerson, when asked if he minded the comparisons to the often frustrating “Lost”: “I don’t always want everything to be answered. Like, I do and I don’t, because so much of what made ‘Lost’ so engrossing was the mystery, not just the mystery of what happened, but the sort of reclamation of the spookiness of being alive. You can’t give all the answers and maintain that spookiness.”
With that in mind, here are some of the most pressing issues that still need to be answered.

With Yellowjackets season 2 coming to a dramatic and emotional close, fans are likely eager to see what comes next for the survivors, both in the past and present timelines. The series received a season 3 renewal before season 2 even premiered, but that doesn’t mean we’ll get to see the continuation of this story anytime soon. Even though there was only about a year between seasons 1 and 2, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike has put an indefinite pause on the writers’ room for season 3, meaning it may take even longer for new episodes of Yellowjackets to reach our screens.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though. The show wouldn’t be what it is without writers, and they deserve to be paid a living wage and have their reasonable terms met by the studios. The writers’ room for season 3 was only able to meet for a day before...

At first blush, Showtime's hit series "Yellowjackets" seems like a natural fit for the modern TV landscape. It has a lot of the hallmarks that have made many other successes successful: a well-calibrated mix of established actors and exciting new talents lining the cast, a thematic preoccupation with trauma and the tricks of memory, muddy lighting design, a needle drop approach to music and a jukebox soundtrack, and more still.
But now that we've reached the dramatic second season finale, I can't help but linger on all the ways that its success is so atypical. In the sense that I'm using "success" and "successful," I'm not referring to viewership numbers (which are good) or critical opinion. I'm talking about fan reception. Specifically, the cultivation of one of the most active, rabid, engaged, and fiercely loyal fanbases in modern television, rivaled perhaps only by "Succession," but that's only a few days longer for this world.

Yellowjackets may thrive on the unknown, but co-creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson haven't been shy about revealing their grand plan for the Showtime drama. Lyle and Nickerson originally envisioned a "five-season" roadmap for the show, and despite making a few changes, they say they've largely stayed "on track" in Season 2. Showtime has already greenlit Season 3, but the question remains: Does Yellowjackets really have enough juice to sustain five seasons?...

[This story contains spoilers from the seventh episode of Yellowjackets season two, “Burial.”]
Ever since Yellowjackets co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco said that cannibalism wouldn’t be the most transgressive plot point of the second season of Showtime’s hit survival series, the audience has been wondering: What could be more morally confronting than watching that Jackie feast?
The seventh episode, titled “Burial,” answered that question when it ended with Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) beating Lottie (Courtney Eaton) nearly to death. The 1996 timeline picked up after the stillbirth of Shauna’s son, and with Lottie offering herself as a literal punching bag for Shauna’s grief, which has now turned into rage. Lottie lets Shauna swing punch after punch and doesn’t resist, as the rest of the cabin stands by watching and Lottie’s face is left nearly unrecognizable from the blows. But, the fight is intercut with scenes from the present-day timeline, where all of the adult survivors have finally...

Showtime's "Yellowjackets" is in the unique position of having two troupes of actors playing the same characters in two different timelines set almost 25 years apart. At PaleyFest 2023's TV festival last month, the entire cast was given the rare opportunity of appearing together on stage for one of the largest panels ever for the event. Two of those actors, Liv Hewson and Lauren Ambrose wouldn't have been on that stage if series creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson would have had their way, initially. According to them, Van was not supposed to survive her stint in the Canadian wilderness and would have been one of the first major characters to die.
In retrospect, it is something of a miracle that Van is still among the living. She's survived a plane crash, been mauled by a wolf leaving her permanently scarred, and she's been set on fire. Now that Lauren Ambrose...

Sunshine Honey’s Wellness Community is opening its doors to Yellowjackets viewers.
The Showtime series launched a stunt in the seventh episode of its second season, but only a viewer with citizen detective skills at the level of Walter (Elijah Wood) and Misty could have spotted it.
In the episode, titled “Burial,” the adult main cast of Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), Natalie (Juliette Lewis), Misty (Christina Ricci), Taissa (Tawny Cypress) and Van (Lauren Ambrose) finally reunite onscreen after a season spent apart when they arrive at the wilderness compound run by their fellow 1996 plane crash survivor, Lottie (Simone Kessell). The prior episode ended with all of the survivors laying eyes on Lottie, as the camera panned out to reveal that the infamous symbol at the center of the show (one promoted by Lottie as her spiritual power appears to grow stronger in the wilderness) is etched out in the grounds.

Melanie Lynskey might be reading this story. The “Yellowjackets” star is a fan of TV, and she’s also a fan of writing and criticism about TV. And that includes reading press about her own shows — and herself. “I love [film and TV] criticism so much,” she tells Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast. “And it would make me sad to not get to read it. You have to put your ego aside for a minute and just be like, ‘it doesn’t matter what I read about myself. When it’s someone you really love reading, and they’re writing about something that you spent six months working on, it’s hard for me to not do it.”
Lynskey says the reviews aren’t always great — but they’re usually accurate even in those cases. “They’ve always been right,” she says. “I know when something hasn’t been that good. So I’ve never been like,...

Though “Yellowjackets” fans may have predicted what happened with Shauna’s (Sophie Nélisse) baby in Season 2, Episode 6, that didn’t make it any less difficult to watch. Creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson confirmed to IndieWire that they always knew what was going to happen with Shauna’s pregnancy in the wilderness, and that it has been built into the character since Season 1.
“Shauna is a character, particularly in Season 1, who’s engaging in what really amounts to self flagellation,” Lyle said. “She’s sort of punishing herself with the life that she’s built for herself.”
Nickerson described Shauna as being defined by absence — someone who “thought she could and should have a different life” but lost any chance of it perhaps even before her plane went down.
“We view her as a character in a kind of stasis, who is stuck,” he said. “Something was torn out of...

[This story contains major spoilers from the sixth episode of Yellowjackets season two, “Qui.”]
Ever since Javi returned, the Yellowjackets clock has been ticking on answering the other big question from season one: What will happen to Shauna’s baby? The answer came in the sixth episode of the Showtime hit’s second season, “Qui,” which was written by Karen Joseph Adcock and Ameni Rozsa, and directed by Liz Garbus.
Garbus says she devoured the first season of Yellowjackets. So when she got the call about directing an episode of season two, she was excited. “There was no catch up necessary,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter (in an interview that took place before the May 2 writers strike). But her curiosity was piqued because the plot of the episode was being held close to the vest. “We were talking about different dates and they weren’t really revealing any information, but they were like, ‘Well, we have this one episode we...
The writers behind Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” had a very brief time back in the beehive.
The team behind the mystery thriller paused work for Season 3 following the commencement of the Writers Guild of America’s strike — after beginning the writer’s room of the season just the day before.
Ashley Lyle, who created the acclaimed show with her husband Bart Nickerson and co-showruns with him and Jonathan Lisco, shared that the writer’s room would pause work on Monday night, following the WGA’s official announcement of a work stoppage, after meeting for the first time earlier that day.
“Well, we had exactly one day in the ‘YellowJackets’ S3 writers’ room,” Lyle wrote on Twitter. “It was amazing, and creatively invigorating, and so much fun, and I’m very excited to get back to it as soon as the WGA gets a fair deal. #1u #unionstrong.”
IndieWire has reached out to Lyle for comment.

Showtime's electrifying thriller series "Yellowjackets" is back for more murder and mayhem in its second season. The show follows a high school girl's soccer team - the titular Yellowjackets - destined for the national championship when all hell breaks loose. On the way to the championship, their private plane crashes in the woods and the group is forced to do whatever it takes to survive. Meanwhile, in the present day, the surviving Yellowjackets, now adults, are dealing with the repercussions of what they had to do to survive and go to extremes to keep the secrets of their time in the woods hidden.
Fans might wonder if "Yellowjackets" is based in reality. While it's not a completely true story, it does have real-life inspirations. Here's what we know.
Is "Yellowjackets" Based on a True Story?
The show isn't entirely based on a true story, but it does resemble the real-life Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 disaster.

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets."Even if you've never watched a single second of Showtime's hit series "Yellowjackets," you probably know that the show deals with a high school girls' soccer team stranded in the wilderness and a whole lot of cannibalism. Maybe it's because I'm a Sicko™ who watched "Cannibal Holocaust" a little too young, but "Yellowjackets" has currently featured a pretty acceptable amount of cannibalism. I mean, if you consider anything more than "one" to be an acceptable number. Season 2 kicked off with the show's first foray into eating human flesh, when pregnant teen Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) ate the frozen ear off of the corpse of her best friend, Jackie (Ella Purnell), who froze to death in the season 1 finale.
The moment was shocking, disgusting, and weirdly poetic, as Shauna's love for her best friend seemed to extend to her desire to make Jackie a part of her.

Warning: Spoilers for “Yellowjackets” season 2, episode five, “Two Truths and a Lie,” directed by Ben Semanoff and written by Katherine Kearns & Sarah L. Thompson.
When it comes to describing young Misty Quigley, the overly zealous equipment manager on the high school soccer team, Samantha Hanratty says that “a lot of her stuff is extra.” The 27-year-old breakout star adds, “She can be a very heightened human.” And what goes down at the halfway point of Yellowjackets season 2 is an example of just that, with Hanratty revealing she was “quite giddy” when she read the script for “Two Truths and a Lie,” aware of where things were headed for Misty since the beginning of the season.
During episode five, things are starting to get even more desperate for the young survivors in the past timeline. While the girls fight over what to do with Javi (Luciano Leroux), who was miraculously found...

Spoilers for "Yellowjackets" follow.
The dual timelines of "Yellowjackets," set 25 years apart, show both how a high school girls' soccer team was stranded in the Canadian Wilderness and how they cope with that experience as adults. This structure means we already know the main cast's fate, at least to a point. In season 1, the presence of Shauna, Taissa, Natalie, Misty, and Travis in the 2021 timeline confirmed they got out of the wilderness alive. Two supporting characters in the 1996 timeline, Laura Lee and Jackie, didn't show up in the present. Sure enough, it's because they're dead.
However, season 1 ended with the reveal that Lottie Matthews (Courtney Eaton) was still alive, though she was never even mentioned in the 2021 timeline. Come season 2, she's now a regular in both timelines (played by Simone Kessell as an adult). The bigger surprise in season 2 is that Vanessa "Van" Palmer (Liv Hewson) survived too. She got...

Being a part of a fandom can be an incredibly affirming experience. Sure, some of our friends and loved ones might not understand why we feel compelled to wear full cosplay and jam ourselves into overpopulated convention centers, but for those that understand our pop culture obsessions, an immediate familial bond can be forged by the power of wearing a matching T-shirt. Fans express their appreciation in countless ways, with some of the more die-hard folks willing to name their children after their favorite characters, or permanently alter their bodies by getting tattoos.
I'll admit that I'm one of those people, as all three of my tattoos are references to movies I love. Getting a fandom tattoo is a risky decision because while something might feel good at the moment, there's always the chance the creator of your favorite property might turn into the world's loudest mouthpiece for transphobia, and...

[This story contains spoilers from the fifth episode of Yellowjackets season two, “Two Truths and a Lie.”]
Yellowjackets was praised for its casting after the first season introduced characters so adeptly shared by two sets of actresses. In following the dual timelines on the hit Showtime series, the teenage Yellowjackets soccer team and the adults they become — after surviving the 1996 plane crash and 19 months in the wilderness — melded together with the teen and adult versions of Shauna (Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse), Natalie (Juliette Lewis and Sophie Thatcher), Misty (Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty) and Taissa (Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown).
The second season expanded the roster of survivors from four to six when it first introduced adult Lottie, played by newcomer Simone Kessell, in the premiere and, after a brief introduction at the end of episode four, viewers finally got to meet adult Van, played by Lauren Ambrose, when she and adult Taissa (Cypress) reunited in the fifth episode.
