Michele Brown -- the second in command at the Us Attorney's office in Newark -- has resigned under a cloud of controversy over a $46,000 loan from New Jersey Republican gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie.
Earlier this month, Page Six reported the state's Democratic incumbent, Gov. Jon Corzine, had filed Freedom of Information Act requests for various Christie records. The investigation was aimed at discovering the nature of his relationship with Brown, sources told us.
Christie gave the mortgage loan to Brown in 2007, when he was Us Attorney in the office and she was first assistant.
