A body piercing artist to the stars made a citizen's arrest against an actor whom she claims sexually assaulted her on a United flight -- something he vigorously denies. Stephanie Anders says she was flying back from her best friend's funeral last week when she fell asleep in her seat. She claims she was awakened by the man sitting next her who allegedly had his hands all over her butt. She claims the offending passenger -- 6'5" Cody Deal,...

Bryan Fuller was a little coy at Comic-Con on the subject, but it sure sounds like he's trying to get Pushing Daisies to Broadway, with the original cast. Who would stand in line for days to get tickets?
I'll be the first to admit that 50 Cent has said some anti-gay things that really ticked me off. But as for his opinion on Frank Ocean? “Obama is for same-sex marriage. If the president is saying that, then who am I to go the other way? Anyone that has an issue with Frank Ocean is an idiot.”
My buddy Brett Berk has compiled a list of the Five Best and Five Worst Batmobiles, and I have to admit I've never seen some of these cars, especially the older ones. Where did they hide the weaponry in the convertibles?
I've kind of avoided talking about Usher's stepson Kile Glover, who was seriously injured in a boating accident.

The American Film Market promo art for Hallow Pointe was thrown our way and you werewolf fans should dig it. Written by Joe Knetter and directed by Thomas Churchill, the film's cast includes Tony Todd, Ashley C. Williams, Kane Hodder, Allison Kyler, Cody Deal, Stacey Dixon, Brad Loree, Tiffany Shepis, Andrew Bryniarski, Lar Park Lincoln, Brenda Balaski and Leslie Easterbrook. An previously released press release described the film as "a chilling story about love, life and what lengths you go through to try and save someone; all told within the classic horror staple, a creature feature. The film is centered around Madeline's Closet, a quaint bed and breakfast hidden away from the world on a forgotten dirt road in the woods. Henry and Jane are hoping a weekend there will help...

When I think about it, I am not sure what has me fascinated about Cody Deal, or why I have now written yet another piece about the actor. I think it has to do with the fact that the kid really does have talent, beyond an action role (not meant in the nicest way) in a Syfy original movie, "Almighty Thor." If you listen to Cody, or watch is online reality show (which I have only seen one episode of, to be honest), you would almost think that Cody was in the Chris Hemsworth blockbuster film "Thor," and not the version aired by Syfy meant to confuse the average movie-goer. He starred in one film, got a little publicity over it, and Cody seems to almost be waiting for Eddie Murphy to call and ask for help in hosting the Oscars. But Cody is not at that level. Yet. But...

As an entertainment writer, you come to expect that publicists and behind-the-scenes folks will read what you write, but not often do the A-list stars read it. Or so they like to say in interviews. So when Anne Hathaway was sitting down for an interview with MTV and mentioned she'd read MTV's reaction to her Catwoman costume was "Meh," I can only imagine how cold the author of that post's blood turned, especially since he was in the room. But the good news is that we haven't even seen 10% of what that costume can do, whatever that means.

At San Diego Comic-Con this past July, I had the pleasure of meeting a tall, muscular and seemingly talented young actor named Cody Deal. I didn't recognize him, probably because I don't watch the Syfy Saturday movies. But he starred in "Almighty Thor," one of those films you wouldn't recognize the director or writer, and usually released around the same time as a big box office offering (in this case, "Thor") to help either create some audience confusion, or just to capitalize on the name. Well, during a Syfy news conference call promoting the film, Deal was able to connect with Kenn Gold, one of the founders of the entertainment website MediaBlvd, and the two decided they should work on a project together. An online reality show on Deal's struggles. You see, despite this starring ...

What if stoner buddies Harold and Kumar got superpowers? Well, they’d probably be a little like writer/director Kholi Hicks’ “Avery and Pete: Superspeeds”, an indie comedy/superhero movie with definite potential (stick with it, the trailer gets progressively better). The film stars Ricky Faust and Keye Dusan Chen as buddies who stumble across pills that grant them cool superpowers, and features Cody Deal (late of “The Almighty Thor”, not to be confused with that other Thor guy) as the sorta villain. The trailer features plenty of slick CGI, especially for the budget Hicks and company had to work with. According to producer/co-star Teresa Decher, they were working with a $17,000 budget. You could probably buy a bag of peanuts with that on a Michael Bay movie set. Set in an urban, modern-day, economic-distraught Los Angeles, Superseeds follows best friends and roommates Avery and Pete in a race to curtail disaster in their city.

The God of Thunder had quite a busy weekend. Last Friday, he showed up in multiplexes around the country, courtesy of Marvel/Paramount's blockbuster Thor. Then on Saturday night, thanks to those lunatics running The Asylum, he materialized on television in a made-for-Syfy mockbuster called Almighty Thor.
If nothing else, this weekend proved there definitely is a Thor for every budget — Marvel's version cost about $150 million, and I'm willing to bet The Asylum made their film for an amount equal to the catering costs on Marvel's flick. Actually, what these two films really prove is that you get what you pay for.
Let's play contrast and compare. Marvel's film is filled with fine award-winning actors; is loaded with jaw-dropping special effects; and was directed by Kenneth Branagh, noted interpreter of Shakespeare. Almighty Thor...

You can always count on The Asylum for a good laugh or two. Each and every one of their shamelessly low-budget “mockbusters” seems to take great pride in delivering the cheapest and cheesiest thrills for the money, and I’ve yet to be disappointed with any of their recent efforts. Not surprisingly, director Christopher Ray’s SyFy original outing “Almighty Thor” has been scheduled for release around the same time that Kenneth Branagh’s big budget comic book adaptation “Thor” bows in theaters across North America. “Almighty Thor” is just as genuinely awful as I thought it would be, but as you well know, that’s precisely what I was hoping for. However, instead of mining the comic book for material, the filmmakers choose to plant their roots in the actual mythology surrounding the titular titan. Sneaky, sneaky. Newcomer Cody Deal portrays the whiny, snot-nosed son of Odin (Kevin Nash...

Can't get enough Norse god action this weekend? Marvel's Thor finally hits the big screen, and over on Syfy they'll premiere the new Asylum mockbuster Almighty Thor. One has Anthony Hopkins as the Norse god Odin; the other has pro wrestler Kevin Nash in the role. But which will you enjoy more after getting hammered?
Syfy has posted three clips promoting Almighty Thor. Actually, two clips and a TV spot. The TV spot comes first below.
The first actual scene from the movie showcases Patricia Velasquez's swordfighting skills as she contends with an escapee from Dragon Wars while Thor (Cody Deal) and Loki (Richard Grieco) take turns shooting each other with an uzi just like all Norse gods are known to do.
The second clip is just Thor fighting a knight in a rainstorm. The clip runs 2:30 but would probably have been only :30 if not for the use of slo-mo.

Cody Deal, one of Hollywood's fastest rising stars, found an affinity for the web, early on in his days in the big city, and took to blogging about his adventures in weekly updates on his website (http://hollywoodandbeyond.com (http://hollywoodandbeyond.com)). The posts go into far more than the superficial high points of a dream being played out in Hollywood by a 25 year old kid from a small town in Kansas. Cody writes honestly about how he found himself homeless and living in his car for a few months, so that he could afford (both time and dollars) to pursue acting classes. He details the heart wrenching day when his car was towed, because his tags were expired, and the complete and devastating loss that he felt at that point, but also about realizing at that moment just how much he actually had, and how much of himself he...

Marvel Studios’ “Thor” may be getting all the headlines, but the Asylum’s “Almighty Thor” is getting plenty of, well, underlines? (Hey, I just made up a word!) To be sure, there’s nothing about “Almighty Thor” (what, they couldn’t afford to add an “The” in front of the title?) that will make you confuse it with Marvel’s “Thor”, but then again, I’m reasonably certain you’ll get a lot of entertainment value out of it anyway. I mean, it even stars Richard Friggin Grieco, for Christ sake. Check out some videos, including a new 30-second spot, for it below. In Almighty Thor, a volcanic fissure bursts open in the fortress of Valhalla, freeing the demon God Loki (Richard Grieco), who steals the Hammer of Invincibility. Loki plans to obliterate Los Angeles using the Hammer — and Thor (Cody Deal) is the only one who can stop him.

We're proud to share with you these pictures of the two stars of a movie about the Norse god Thor. No, not that one.
The two men to the left are the stars of Syfy's movie "Almighty Thor": Cody Deal is the title character, and Richard Grieco is his nemesis, Loki. The movie premieres Saturday, May 7, one day after the somewhat more generously budgeted "Thor" arrives in theaters.
"Thor" -- the one with Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman -- will likely be a hot ticket. So if your local theater sells out, you can always stay home and watch "Almighty Thor." Syfy describes the movie, which also stars Patricia Velasquez ("The Mummy Returns") and pro wrestler Kevin Nash as Odin, this way: "In 'Almighty Thor,' a volcanic fissure bursts open in the fortress of Valhalla, freeing the demon God Loki (Grieco), who steals the Hammer of Invincibility.

Check out this trailer for Almighty Thor, the mockbuster to Marvel’s Thor and having it’s world premiere on Syfy on May 7th. It shows Thor shooting an Uzi and Richard Grieco (21 Jump Street) playing Loki! Just to raise a few eyebrows I’m sure, Kevin Nash (the wrestler) is playing Odin and unknown Cody Deal (also auditioned for Marvel’s Thor, Conan, and Spartacus for Starz’ show) fresh from Kansas is playing Thor. Think a younger cousin to Chris Hemsworth…maybe?

Thor has an uzi! Kevin Nash is Odin! Richard Grieco unleashes his own private Dragon Wars on Los Angeles! Did I mention Thor shooting an uzi? The gods command you to watch the marvelous trailer for The Asylum’s Almighty Thor right now!
Relative newcomer Cody Deal is the Norse god Thor, having left Valhalla for modern day Los Angeles to save our world from the evil Loki (Richard “Booker” Grieco), who has slain Odin (sports entertainer Kevin Nash), stolen the Hammer of Invincibility, and intends to devastate our world by unleashing giant monsters.
The Mummy’s Patricia Velasquez co-stars as a warrior princess of some sort.
Christopher Ray (Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus) directs.
The script for this one was penned by Eric Forsberg. You may recall him as the writer-director of Mega Piranha, the greatest Asylum movie of all time, in my humble opinion. He may have done it again.

Late last year, we told you about "Almighty Thor," the upcoming film from "Mega Python Vs. Gatoroid" studio The Asylum, which specializes in low-budget, direct-to-video movies timed to coincide with major studio releases. Featuring a cast that includes pro wrestler Kevin Nash and actor Richard Grieco (yes, that Richard Grieco), "Almighty Thor" explores what happens when the "demon god Loki (Grieco) destroys the fortress of Valhalla and steals the Hammer of Invincibility."
Cody Deal plays Thor in the film, and judging by what we've seen of it so far, there's probably not much danger he'll be confused with Chris Hemsworth's take on the god of thunder. However, you can judge for yourself by watching our exclusive premiere of the "Almighty Thor" trailer:
Yes, that is a shot of Thor running down the street while firing an Uzi at the 0:42 mark — need we say more? I didn't think so.

Two Thor movies are coming out in May. The Marvel Comics blockbuster and The Asylum version, The Almighty Thor, and Comic Book Movie has two new stills, and while not has funny as the penis punch pic (here), we ask: How do you like Cody Deal as Thor compared to Chris Hemsworth?
The last pic has the film’s villain, the “other” Loki (Richard Grieco) in it. Check the film out soon on DVD and Blu-ray (here).

If you were wondering what Richard Grieco (TV's "Booker") is up to these days, well wonder no more. It seems that The Asylum, notorious for producing titles that capitalize on productions by major studios, is releasing their own Thor movie called Almighty Thor. But the best part is that Richard Grieco will be playing Loki. (Yes, that is Loki on the right.) From Wikipedia: "When the demon god Loki (Richard Grieco) destroys the fortress of Valhalla and steals the Hammer of Invincibility, only the young hero Thor (Cody Deal) can protect Earth from Armageddon." For those of you hoping to see this in the theaters as well, it is a direct-to-video release only. Almighty Thor is scheduled for May 10, 2011, which is 4 days after Marvel's own Thor movie arrives in theaters here in the U.S. Also starring are Kevin Nash (yep, the wrestler) as Odin (with both his eyes in...

Read our exclusive interview with actor Cody Deal, whose next set to portray the title role in the SyFy Original television movie ‘Almighty Thor.’ The movie follows the Norse god as he tries to defeat the villainous Loki (played by Richard Grieco) before he can defeat both the world of the gods and the world of men. Deal discusses with us, among other things, why Thor fans should watch ‘Almighty Thor’ when it premieres on May 7, 2011, and how he transitioned to the superhero role after appearing in several comedies, including ‘Get Him to the Greek.’ Shockya (Sy): You are next set to play the title role in the upcoming [...]...

The Asylum is rushing to beat Marvel Studios to the punch by releasing their Thor movie first, a movie called Almighty Thor. Say what now? This production stars (and I use that term loosely) Cody Deal as Thor. You may know him as the Roman Soldier who showed up at Caesar's Palace in The Hangover. He must take on the villainous Loki, played by none other than Richard Grieco, before he destroys the world of the Gods and Humans. The ever-popular Kevin Nash (former WWE and Tna Wrestling star) will be playing the role of....Odin and Patricia Velasquez (The Mummy Returns) will be playing Jamsaxa, a demi-god who trains Thor to take on Loki in their final epic battle. When you are done laughing, take a look at the images below. Anyone who was questioning whether or not Kenneth Branagh's Thor, you have been put in check. We...

Though obviously that’s what the Asylum is counting on as they ready their “Almighty Thor” to land on DVD just about the same time as Marvel Studios’ expensive “Thor” movie. The slightly less expensive direct-to-dvd movie (and soon to be SyFy Channel original movie, no doubt) stars Cody Deal as Thor and Richard Grieco as Loki. Yes, Richard Grieco. Remember him? Of “Booker” fame? Yeah. Wrestling guy Kevin Nash plays Odin. On the bright side, Patricia Velasquez is playing Jarnsaxa. I have never heard of Jarnsaxa, but dang, she cuts a fine figure indeed. I doth approve. The plot: When the demon god Loki destroys the fortress of Valhalla and steals the Hammer of Invincibility, only the young hero Thor can protect Earth from Armageddon. “Almighty Thor” works his magic on DVD on May 10, 2011. Which just happens to be about 4 days after Marvel Studios unleashes their “Thor” in theaters.

"Thor" bursts into theaters in May of next year, but if you weren't exactly impressed by the recently released trailer for Kenneth Branagh's comic book adaptation, don't worry — there's another "Thor" film on the way.
But it's not Marvel's Thor that we're talking about. Instead, brace yourself for "The Almighty Thor," a mockbuster of epic proportions. It's the latest effort from The Asylum, a film studio that specializes in producing low-budget direct-to-video productions that are timed to coincide with major studio productions — in this case, "Thor."
Bleeding Cool and Dread Central have rundowns on "The Almighty Thor," as well as various photographs from the set. We've posted a few of our favorites below.
On a surface level, "The Almighty Thor" shares some common story elements with "Thor," which is to be expected. The direct-to-video knockoff focuses on "the demon god Loki" destroying the fortress of Valhalla and stealing the Hammer of Invincibility,...

Whilst The Asylum are gaining notoriety for their “giant” monster movies, they’re still best known for their mockbusters – films such as Titanic 2, Snakes on a Train, Transmorphers et al. Well now they’re back to doing what they do best , with the mockbuster to end all mockbusters – Almighty Thor.
When the demon god Loki destroys the fortress of Valhalla and steals the Hammer of Invincibility, only the young hero Thor can protect earth from Armageddon.
Yes, The Asylum is taking on the big guns at Marvel with the a film that “pays homage” to Kenneth Branagh’s forthcoming big budget comic book movie, and Dread Central have the first photos from the set of the film which is directed by Fred Olen Ray’s son, Chris Ray.

Last week I brought you word of The Asylum's marvelous mockbuster Almighty Thor that you may or may not have missed as it was on a day when there was a mad crush of movie news. Now The Asylum has posted the first pics from the set, and it's quite apparent we are in for something truly special one way or another.
Filming of Almighty Thor has begun in Los Angeles under the direction of Chris Ray (Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus) from a script by Mega Piranha writer-director Eric Forsberg.
These set pics give us our first look at newcomer Cody Deal as Thor, Richard Grieco as the villainous Norse god Loki, sexy Patricia Velasquez as a demigoddess named Jarnsaxa who trains Thor for his fight with Loki, and, of course, wrestler turned actor Kevin Nash as Odin, the supreme King of Valhalla. The last image of what appears to...

Yeah, there aren't set photos from the upcoming big screen epic Thor but from a smaller, scaled down B-movie version from The Asylum called The Almighty Thor. Check out the images below courtesy of Bleeding Cool. The Thunder God (Cody Deal) and Loki played by Richard Grieco, yeah! Oh I'm not done, how about we have pro wrestler Kevin Nash as Odin, Patricia Velasquez as Jarnsaxa. The Almighty Thor is a scaled down mockbuster so don't expect too much visual epicness. Yeah that's a word, I just created it! ...

Since Thor’s name can’t fully be trademarked by Marvel, enter those mockbusters’ The Asylum. Chris Ray is currently directing Almighty Thor, which will star Cody Deal as Thor, former WCW Kevin Nash as Odin, and super sexy (and where has she been?) Patricia Velasquez from The Mummy Returns.
The plot? “When the demon god Loki destroys the fortress of Valhalla and steals the Hammer of Invincibility, only the young hero Thor can protect Earth from armageddon.”
The film will be coming to DVD April 26th. Can’t wait to see the poster/cover art for this.

Marvel's Thor may have Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins as Odin, but could Hopkins powerbomb a guy through a table like pro wrestler "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash, who will be playing the ruler of Asgard in The Asylum's mockbuster Almighty Thor? Advantage: The Asylum.
Filming is under way on the Almighty Thor under the direction of Chris Ray, his second stint at the helm of an Asylum production following Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus, which, by the way, arrives on DVD shelves and inside Redboxes this Tuesday.
