Netflix has dropped a teaser trailer for the comedy fantasy 8-episode series ‘Kaos’, a modern-day contemporary retelling of Greek mythology.
Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) has long enjoyed his status as King of The Gods. That is until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Neurosis sets in, setting him off on a dangerous, paranoid path. Zeus becomes convinced his fall is coming – and starts to see signs of it everywhere.
Zeus’ once reliable brother, Hades, God of the Underworld, is secretly losing his grip on his dark dominion. There is a backlog of dead waiting to be processed and they are growing restless. Hera (Janet McTeer), Queen of the Gods, exercises dominion on Earth — and over Zeus — in her unique way. But her power and freedom become threatened by Zeus’ growing paranoia, and she is forced to act while Zeus’ rebellious son, Dionysus, (Nabhaan Rizwan), is...

Charlie Covell might be known for the successful adaptation of the comic series The End of the F***ing World, but the British writer is currently working on a new show for Netflix, which is going to be released later this year. Kaos is an original work by Covell that is going to be a fantastic, mythology-inspired black comedy that will follow the adventures of Ancient Greek gods in a modern setting. Ahead of this year’s premiere – a release window has not been specified, as of the time of writing – Netflix has released the first trailer for the series as well.
Kaos is going to have eight episodes, as has been confirmed by the streaming service, and will see legendary actor Jeff Goldblum as the ruler of the Greek pantheon, Zeus; Goldblum replaced Hugh Grant, who was initially attached to the role. You can check out what Goldblum looks like...

You know Zeus. Greek god of thunder, curly hair, luscious big beard, turns into a swan? You’ve seen his face on statues in parks and on tile mosaics behind the counter in kebab shops.
That’s not the Zeus in Netflix’s new fantasy drama Kaos, from Charlie Covell, screenwriter of The End of the F***ing World. As played by Jeff Goldblum, the Zeus of Kaos looks more Tony Soprano than beardy all-father. And home-of-the-gods Mount Olympus? Think a lavishly appointed mansion such as you might see on Selling Sunset instead of a bucolic paradise crawling with nymphs and fauns.
Covell’s vision of Greek myth clearly comes with a modern twist, hence Zeus’ Casio watch and leisure suit collection in the first teaser trailer below:
As Goldblum explained at a recent Netflix slate preview event: “One may say it’s about the Gods, but a different version of the Gods.

"Honor me... that's a command, not a request." Netflix has unveiled a first look teaser trailer for a series titled Kaos, described as a "modern day contemporary retelling of Greek mythology." From the writer of “The End of the F*cking World” and the producers of Chernobyl. Kaos is a mythological dark-comedy series created by Charlie Covell. The series revolves around six humans as they discover their connection to each other and to a long standing ancient prophecy while they deal with corrupt and arrogant gods of the Greek mythology. The main cast includes Goldblum as Zeus (introduced below), Janet McTeer as Hera, Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, David Thewlis as Hades, Killian Scott as Orpheus, Debi Mazar as Medusa, and Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus.

In the last episode of Peacock’s Mrs. Davis, Simone (Betty Gilpin) finally gets to the truth behind the seemingly omnipotent algorithm of the title. But whatever dramatic origin story Simone might have expected, she doesn’t get it. Instead, she discovers that what Mrs. Davis has really been all this time … is a Buffalo Wild Wings app wildly overdelivering on its customer service directive.
The reveal is so hilariously, gob-smackingly stupid that even Simone, who’s spent the series trying to destroy Mrs. Davis, looks a little crushed. But it also feels perfectly apt for the year of ChatGPT and OpenAI. As the AI-driven future once only imagined in sci-fi inched toward mainstream reality, shows like Mrs. Davis, Black Mirror and A Murder at the End of the World leaned in for a closer look — and discovered not some sleek and shiny panacea, but our own human foibles reflected back at us.

What makes us care about the characters in a television show? It’s a strange relationship we have with them, an unfamiliarity that turns into something akin to family. Soon enough, you’re a Soprano or a Simpson, part of the Brady bunch or in with the Ewing clan. And then TV can play its great emotional trick: it can put these characters through tragedy and triumph, and make the viewer feel that it’s theirs. This is the well-worn pathway that You & Me, the new Itvx three-part drama, forswears. Instead, we are dropped into a world and asked to care, straight away, when things begin in media misery.

Given the current reactionary trends in public opinion, with the death penalty enjoying an unexpected surge in popularity, it’s a bit of a surprise to learn that the British parole system is still in business. But it is, with 360 lay and expert members, in pairs, sifting through the files of about 16,000 potentially dangerous prisoners a year. In the first of five episodes of the excellent new BBC series Parole, we meet two of the prisoners looking to go straight, and quite the characters they are, too.

Warning: contains major plot spoilers for BBC drama Better
Better may have at first seemed like just an excuse for Leila Farzad (I Hate Suzie) and Andrew Buchan (Broadchurch) to test out their best regional accents, but what starts as a disappointingly slow crime thriller grows into a gripping and at times moving exploration of whether a true friendship can survive when you end up on opposite sides of the moral spectrum.
Set in Leeds and West Yorkshire, the five-part BBC drama follows Di Lou Slack (Farzad) on her quest for redemption when – after almost losing her teenage son Owen – she reevaluates her life of corruption.
For two decades Slack’s been a bent copper (Hastings would have a field day with her on Line of Duty), nurturing a mutually beneficial relationship with the head of Leeds’ criminal underworld, Col McHugh (Buchan), who has become one of her closest friends.

Detective Inspector Lou Slack (Leila Farzad) is a smart, hard-drinking, cigarette-smoking, highly effective police officer in the West Yorkshire force. She’s also a bent copper. But a bent copper who we desperately want to believe is also a “nice” bent copper. Redemption, after all, usually makes for great drama. And a dash of corruption in the lead character in a police show makes an intriguing change. Unlike in Line of Duty, here the high-ranking corrupt police officer is the investigator, not the investigated, the antihero who is also the hero. And unlike Catherine Cawood in Happy Valley – a hard act to follow – she’s wealthy and content with her life, complicated and compromised as it is. We want to know what Lou did that got her so entangled with the wrong side, and how she’s going to survive it as her web of deceit goes wrong. It’s...

When did reality TV shows stop being, well, real? Critics of the genre will argue that they never were, and they might have a point. No one believes the cast of Made in Chelsea just so happen to bump into each other on the King’s Road every other day. But think back to Big Brother, or even the early series of Love Island, and you’ll find a lot more reality. Members of the public, unused to cameras and far less bothered by the opportunities that could come from these shows, let their guards down and created great TV in the process. If they returned to other reality shows, it was with a filter in place and any innocence gone. The dreaded self-awareness had set in. These contestants are now Reality TV Stars, here to play the Reality TV Game.

Until recently, Leila Farzad was asked to read, repeatedly, for the same kind of role. “There were a lot of terrorist wives that I was put up for, and that was how I saw myself represented a lot,” the actor says dryly. “You know, a wife begging someone to not blow something up.” Having grown up in London, Farzad “didn’t think of myself as necessarily needing to be cast as a Middle Eastern person – I was just a girl from London”, but it happened so often that it became a running joke among her friends – “look Leila, it’s your part”. That is, until a job came along that changed everything. Farzad landed the part of Naomi in Billie Piper and Lucy Prebble’s I Hate Suzie, as the straight-talking agent to child-star-turned-shamed-celeb Suzie Pickles.
The role landed her a Bafta nomination and proved, at 37, to be Farzad’s big break.

Billie Piper has been on quite a journey. From teenage popstar (and my first crush) through the tabloid obsession with her marriages to Chris Evans and – shudder – Laurence Fox, to her position, now, as one of Britain’s finest actors. I Hate Suzie – created by Piper along with Diary of a Call Girl collaborator, and Succession writer, Lucy Prebble – was a tremendous showcase for Piper’s ability, and it returns now for a short second season: I Hate Suzie Too. Get ready to be traumatised all over again.
Having hit rock bottom by the end of the first season, Suzie is now making a home for herself amid the pebbly detritus of her life as was. Her big comeback opportunity – personally as well as professionally – is a sub-Strictly reality TV show called DanceCrazee. But behind the make-up and glitter, leotards and legwarmers, Suzie is hanging by a thread. “How do you feel?...

I Hate Suzie Too co-creator Lucy Prebble has said the second season of her and Billie Piper’s Sky/HBO Max hit will be “funnier and angrier” than series one, while she reflected on being “ahead of the game” with their portrayal of anxiety.
The first season of Bad Wolf/Sky Studios’ show swiftly became a revelation when it landed two years ago, garnering critical acclaim for a no-holds-barred approach to anxiety, fame and the media circus, while Piper was hailed for her lead performance as child-star-turned-dysfunctional adult Suzy Pickles. Prebble won a BAFTA for season one and Piper was nominated alongside Supporting Actress Leila Farzad.
The second season has been shortened from eight half hours to three hour-long episodes and centers wholly on Pickles’ decision to take part in Strictly Come Dancing-esque celebrity dance format Dance Crazee to rebuild her reputation and make some money.

BAFTA-nominated I Hate Suzie star Leila Farzad and Broadchurch’s Andrew Buchan are to lead BBC One’s Better, the latest drama from prolific Chernobyl producer Sister.
Farzad, who was BAFTA-nominated for her role in Billie Piper and Lucy Prebble’s dramedy, will play Di Lou Slack, a quick-witted policewoman whose success lies on a foundation of deceit and corruption.
Buchan, who is also penning Sister drama Passenger for ITV, plays Col McHugh, a charming businessman and property developer who heads a citywide drug trafficking gang.
The show from Humans scribes Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent tells of the pair’s bond set in a world where they have created their own version of “right” and “wrong.”
Farzad called it a “a brilliant fresh take on the morality tale,” adding: “I am excited to have the opportunity to play Lou Slack, the vehicle through which we explore the multivalent layers of good and bad.
