With all the hubbub surrounding Marvel‘s output and “superhero fatigue” in general, the studio seems to have taken a step back to evaluate the noise. As such, the rush to churn out more MCU projects has seen a slowing pace, with behind the scenes rumors and chatter indicating that some planned shows and movies will take on a different form, or perhaps be put on the backburner for a while.
Not many of us know the truth about these internal conversations, despite the things that certain leakers will tell you with bluster and confidence. But we do know that at one point Marvel was planning to release quite a few projects to Disney+ this year, and now there are only three official shows on the calendar, with one of them, Echo, arguably being dumped on the streamer in a more bingeable format this November.

Unsurprisingly, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is among the most anticipated movies in recent memory. Not only is it a sequel to one of the most culture-defining films of the past ten years, but questions remain about who exactly will play the title hero. But one of the more surprising points of interest involve a new addition to the MCU, Riri Williams aka Ironheart.
Williams first appeared in 2016’s Invincible Iron Man #7, written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by Mike Deodato, as a young genius inspired by Tony Stark. In the issues that followed, Williams reverse-engineered Stark’s Iron Man armor to deal with a threat, eventually earning her own suit. In her solo series and in the teen team-up book The Champions, Williams has continued to evolve the armor into something more sleek and personal, less beholden to Stark’s aesthetic.

Nick Fury has a lot on his plate in the upcoming Marvel TV series “Secret Invasion,” and you can see just how much in the first trailer, which debuted Saturday during Marvel’s presentation at D23 Expo 2022.
Watch it above now.
It starts with Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) returning from space, looking pretty grizzled. Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) meets him in a bar and dresses him down for not showing up to help with other unnamed problems that have presumably happened since he left Earth.
“Three years, you’ve been avoiding Earth. I have called for your help plenty of other times. And you’ve been pretty content to let those calls go straight to voicemail.”
“Yeah well. This is different,” Fury says. And it is!

Last year, as people lamented not being able to go to the movie theater, they also started celebrating the cinematic moments that meant the most to them. A recurring pick for best moment in a cinema was the “On your Left” scene in “Avengers: Endgame,” where Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson / Falcon signals the return of all those who had disappeared in the previous movie. As Mackie tells it, he could have played a very different character, James Rhodes / War Machine from “Iron Man.”

Don Cheadle has had a long history of encounters with law enforcement, ranging from some that are cumbersome to others that are downright unsettling. Whilst appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor best known for his role as Iron Man sidekick James Rhodes in the McU said he’s been stopped by police “more times than I can count.”
Reflecting on his experiences, Cheadle recalls how his parents prepared him from an early age how to interact with cops. Though the actor is thankful for this advice, he does lament the fact that many children growing up in America have to face this ugly reality at such an early age, while their white peers grow up more or less oblivious.
“I think a lot of Black people have the story of how their parents had cautioned them about how to comport themselves when they come into contact...

At the end of last week we lost another of industry legend. Denny O’Neil passed away on June 11th of natural causes. He leaves behind in comics quite the legacy. Denny had a three decade spanning career that took in writing and editor duties at both DC and Marvel, as well as making stops at Charlton Comics and finding time to write novels.
If you have read a DC or Marvel comic from the 60’s to the 90’s there is a strong chance you have read a Denny O’Neil comic. His career began in 1966, after the suggestion by his friend Roy Thomas, that he take the writers test for Marvel. The test involved adding dialogue to a four page Fantastic Four comic and Stan Lee liked his submission and gave him some work. Two of his earliest assignments at Marvel were Strange Tales and Rawhide Kid. He made the...

Though he never received his own solo movie, over the last decade, Colonel James Rhodes has easily become one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most important supporting characters. Aside from just being Tony Stark’s friend, confidant and conscience in the Iron Man films, we’ve also seen him in three Avengers movies, Captain America: Civil War and also in Captain Marvel’s post-credits scene.
Given his ties to the military, government, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers, War Machine can easily make his way into any of the McU’s standalone franchises and it wouldn’t be too difficult to find a role for him to play, but despite Cheadle always doing a good job with the part, it isn’t like there’s been a big cry for any sort of spinoff or standalone film for the character.

Back in December, the names of a few Avengers: Endgame Lego sets leaked online, one of which offered the intriguing title “Avengers Super Quinjet.” Now, it seems we have an actual image of this model and it suggests Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be getting around in style.
Though you can expect Lego to have taken a few liberties with the design, it’s overall a nice-looking ride that seems packed with a little firepower. When the first Endgame trailer dropped in December, there were many who believed that one of Black Widow and Captain America’s scenes together was set on an aircraft, and it doesn’t feel like that much of a stretch to suggest that the new Quinjet just might be it.

Though toy leaks and a TV spot have already given us a pretty solid idea of the suit that James Rhodes will be wearing in Avengers: Endgame, a new Lego leak shows War Machine as we’ve never seen him before, laying down vengeance on the minions of Thanos while an Ant-Man minifig runs around his feet.
Though there’s no guarantee that the Hulkbuster-style design will feature in the film itself, there are a lot of Reddit users responding to this leak that sure hope we’ll see this thing stomping around in the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, with several fans already speculating that Ant-Man might’ve used his technology to enlarge the suit. As it stands, it’s unclear how much of a story there is left to tell for Rhodey, who didn’t have much of an arc in last year’s Infinity War, but this would...

In the Avengers: Endgame TV spot that dropped a couple of weeks ago, fans got an early, fleeting glimpse of War Machine’s next suit. But if you’d like to see James Rhodes’ latest armor in greater detail, look no further than this new Hasbro toy leak, which emerged online along with an equivalent action figure showing off Ronin’s full costume.
While Iron Man’s outfits seem to be getting slimmer thanks to Tony Stark’s nanotechnology, Rhodey’s new getup is no less bulky than his previous suits. He also looks to have a hefty pair of guns that should do him well in the fight against Thanos, though it remains to be seen whether the recent rumor that he’s bringing his classic War Destroyer weapon to the action is legit.

Analyzing the promotional footage of Avengers: Endgame for subtle clues of the adventure to come is always going to be a dubious game, since not only has Marvel Studios presumably been very careful to minimize the spoilers in the excerpts they release, but they can also be willfully deceitful in their preview clips. We saw this with the fake Hulk scene from the Avengers: Infinity War trailer, and with the new Endgame TV spot, it seems that the marketing team could be up to their old tricks again.
Among the many brief shots we got in last night’s preview is an image of Black Widow, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner and James Rhodes standing outside of Avengers HQ and staring at something that’s got them a little stunned. What exactly the team is looking at is a point of speculation in itself, but another interesting detail that’s got...

Last year, leaked set material offered a strong indication that the upcoming Avengers: Endgame would see Iron Man wield a weapon very similar to the proton cannon from the Marvel vs. Capcom video games, and thanks to another piece of alleged intel, we now have reason to believe that Stark’s friend James Rhodes might be fitted with his own deadly prop from the series.
In a recent post from Instagram user 1414falconfan, it’s reported that one of the Lego sets due for release later this year is going under the title of “War Machine Destroyer,” suggesting that War Machine will be making use of the War Destroyer from Marvel vs. Capcom. This weapon allows Rhodey to shoot an array of missiles into the air, and while this report should be taken for the rumor it is, you can imagine that the character may want the extra firepower in the Marvel Phase 3 finale.

The Russo brothers have teased death in the trailers for the film and rumors of contracts expiring have us definitely thinking that some of our beloved characters from the McU will make their final appearances on the big screen. We’re now just days away from the release of Avengers: Infinity War. As such, this “Fight For Wakanda” TV spot comes at just the right time, giving us a couple of new glimpses at the climactic battle of the movie.
It seems pretty well-established at this point that Wakanda plays a large role in the film’s narrative.
