Sydney, Jan 19 (Ians) Scientists in Australia have developed a new method for fast-tracking synthesis of safe vaccines, an approach that can be used to test vaccine strategies against novel pandemic pathogens such as Sars-CoV-2, the virus responsible for Covid-19.
The team has demonstrated application of the method with a new vaccine for use against tuberculosis (TB), which has generated a powerful protective immune response in mice, according to a study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Researchers are keen to develop the vaccine strategy further to assist in the rapid pre-clinical testing of new vaccines, particularly for respiratory illnesses.
"The challenge is to ensure that our immune cells see both the protein and adjuvant simultaneously," said Anneliese Ashhurst from the University of Sydney.
"To overcome this difficulty, for the first time we have developed a method that synthesises the protein with an attached adjuvant as a single molecule.

Richard Payne ( Creativeimmortal) has put together this stunning motion comic style animation of Mark Millar's Nemesis comic. Deceit - Badman Silence (Complete) from Richard Payne on Vimeo. Richard Payne aka Creative Immortal has married print and screen with an ultra violent animation of the comic's panels. This mash-up for DJ Deceit's dubstep monster 'Badman Silence' garnered the attention of the Nemesis creators themselves. Millar said of it, 'Brilliant! I love it.' And McNiven stated, 'Absolutely spectacular!!! I was blown away. Millar posted this vid on Twitter along with the following.. "I'm literally emailing this to Steve McNiven and Tony Scott right now. Richard Payne is brilliant. They're going to love this." Tony Scott is on board as director for a big screen adaptation of Nemesis but all has been fairly quiet since that announcement. Anyway, what did you make of the vid? That music is damn near a perfect fit I think.

Although we've seen many comic books recieve the motion comic treatment by Marvel in the past couple of years, it would seem that fans are now coming up with their own versions as the following video shows. A big screen adaptation of Nemesis is currently in the works (with Tony Scott set to direct) but until then, here's an animated preview of what we can expect!
