Thor was almost even bigger — from a muscle mass perspective, at least.
“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson told Men’s Health that he was the frontrunner for the MCU role back in 2011 — until he mailed in the audition.
“I didn’t take it seriously,” he said. “I was like, ‘They’ll throw me the part if I look like the guy; nobody really cares about acting.'”
It seems they did. After the audition, the casting directors told Ritchson’s team the role “had been his to lose,” as the magazine wrote, but Ritchson “hadn’t shown that he had ‘the craft.'” The rest is MCU (and Chris Hemsworth’s bank account’s) history. Hemsworth, it should be stated, is no slouch in the looks-like-Thor department either.
To his credit, Ritchson took the fallout from the flubbed audition far more seriously than the audition itself. He brought the “Avengers” scenes to an acting coach,...

Before Alan Ritchson was Jack Reacher, he was Kevin “Thad” Castle, the Blue Mountain State football team captain in the cult TV comedy series. I’m not at all familiar with the series, but according to Deadline, Blue Mountain State is eyeing a comeback as a sequel series is being shopped.
Alan Ritchson would reprise his role for the Blue Mountain State sequel series, with Darin Brooks and Chris Romano also expected to return as Alex Moran and Sammy Cacciatore, respectively. The original series premiered on Spike TV (remember that?) in 2010 and aired for three seasons before it was cancelled. It followed three incoming freshmen attending Midwestern college football powerhouse Blue Mountain State who must quickly adapt to college life and juggle football, girls, classes, and nonstop hazing. Over the years, the series has gathered a cult following, even spawning a Kickstarter-funded follow-up movie, Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland.

Former U.S. Army military police major Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) will be coming back for another edge-of-your-seat season of Reacher.
After shoving the head of security and all-things-evil, Shane Langston (Robert Patrick), out of a moving aircraft for killing members of his unit in Season 2, Reacher is all set for more vigilante justice.
News of the muscular hero's return came almost immediately following the finale of Season 2 when Ritchson took to Twitter/X with the announcement. One can only imagine who will be on the receiving end of Reacher's fist.
The Amazon Prime Video action crime streaming TV series was a big hit after it debuted on February 4, 2022, where Reacher finds himself in the town of Margrave, Georgia.

Raoul Thomas Moat wasn’t the first and won’t be the last self-pitying, self-righteous, narcissistic example of violent toxic masculinity, but he was certainly one of the most destructive. ITV’s three-part The Hunt for Raoul Moat is a superbly directed (by Gareth Bryn) dramatisation of Moat’s last murderous days on earth in the summer of 2010, during which he managed to evade the police for a week and kill, maim and destroy the lives of those around him. He took his own life in a final pathetic act of nihilism, caught by the television cameras in grainy nighttime vision, his sawn-off shotgun pointed at his head. It was the ultimate insult heaped on his victims that he escaped justice. The manhunt around Northumbria as Moat escalated his threats to kill random members of the public gripped the nation. The drama is a tense and faithful re-enactment of what happened,...

ITV’s new true crime drama, The Hunt for Raoul Moat, tells the astonishing story of Britain’s biggest manhunt, which took place in 2010 after Moat – a former bouncer and bodybuilder – shot three people just days after being released from prison.
The three-parter focuses on the innocent victims of Moat’s crimes – Christopher Brown, Samantha Stobbart and PC David Rathband – as well as the police officers who put themselves in the firing line in their quest to apprehend Moat, and the local journalist who sought to tell Moat’s real story.
Lee Ingleby stars as senior Northumbria Police Officer Neil Adamson, with Sonya Cassidy playing local journalist Diane Barnwell and Matt Stokoe portraying Moat.
Certain details – such as footballer Paul Gascoigne’s unlikely involvement in the case – have been left out of the dramatisation.

Seven Kings Must Die concludes the story of Uhtred Ragnarsson, a decades-long frenemy of the English crown since the days of King Alfred the Great. It’s largely adapted from Bernard Cornwell’s final instalment in his Saxon Stories books, War Lord, along with elements of the two previous novels, and tracks the contested succession to the royal throne following the death of King Edward.
A significant time jump has taken place since the final moments of The Last Kingdom season five, during which Aelswith, Hild and Eadith have all passed or moved away. A core of male characters remains though, including Uhtred, Finan, Sihtric, Father Pyrlig and Aldhelm. They’re joined by brand new characters, as below.
Laurie Davidson as Ingilmundr
The biggest addition to The Last Kingdom’s regular cast is Aethelstan’s new trusted advisor, Ingilmundr, a Danish-born Christian who shows a powerful influence over King Edward’s successor.

Faraday isn't returning to Earth, or Showtime, for that matter. The cable channel has opted not to continue The Man Who Fell to Earth, so there won't be a second season. The first season of 10 episodes finished airing in early July. The show was originally ordered to series by CBS All Access, now known as Paramount+.

The Man Who Fell to Earth will not be back on Showtime for a second season, it has been announced.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series was initially conceived as a limited series, but that changed about halfway through production.
However, Showtime feels like the story came to a natural conclusion with its first season finale that aired earlier this year.
“Our thanks to the extraordinary Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet, John Hlavin and Sarah Timberman who did a great job of turning the David Bowie film into such a resonant tale for our times,” a Showtime spokesperson said in a statement to THR.
“And kudos to a wondrous cast led by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Naomie Harris and Bill Nighy for bringing it to life."
"Alex and Jenny originally intended The Man Who Fell To Earth to be a close-ended story."

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of tonight’s The Man Who Fell To Earth Season 1 finale. That’s all we got.
“Maybe they’re not a bundle of laughs, but they’re not bent on the destruction of all living things either,” Bill Nighy’s Thomas Newton says in tonight’s The Man Who Fell To Earth Season 1 finale of the Cambodian monks that have adopted him so to speak.
That devastation and potential salvation of both the Earth and Anthea, the home planet of Newton and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Faraday propels the Olatunde Osunsanmi-directed “The Man Who Sold The World” entitled episode of the Showtime series, to varying outcomes.
Bringing figuratively everything full circle tonight the Jenny Lumet and Alex Kurtzman created sequel to the David Bowie starring 1976 film from Nicolas Roeg, is also built on a foundation of love. Love across their class definitions between Faraday and Newton,...

Ground control to Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet: the stars are aligned, but look very different today. The Man Who Fell to Earth is a standalone sequel series, using Nicholas Roeg’s 1976 film as an alternative energy source. With Walter Tevis’ 1963 science fiction novel The Man Who Fell to Earth as a launching pad, the film starred David Bowie as Thomas Jerome Newton, an overstay from a galaxy not that far away. Showtime’s new series stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as K. Faraday. He is an immigrant from that same planet, Anthea.
The fusion between the two projects is clear from the opening mission statement. Newton came to “the planet of water,” because his home planet is burning dry. Earth has the resources he needs to save it, but terrestrial forces get in the way. The new series takes place half a century after Newton built a corporate conglomerate with...

“I was taken by all of the themes that Alex and Jenny had put into this story,” says Chiwetel Ejiofor of Showtime’s The Man Who Fell To Earth series from Jenny Lumet and Alex Kurtzman. “Themes that really are relevant today. More than 45 years after “The Man Who Fell to Earth” opened with a melancholy David Bowie crash-landing in a Kentucky lake, Showtime’s new sequel series sends Chiwetel Ejiofor spiraling into the New Mexican desert to finish what he started. The connection between the 1976 film and this 2022 show is clear from the beginning, even before Bill Nighy shows up as the older version of Bowie’s character, Thomas Newton. And yet there’s not a whole lot that Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet’s more straightforward version shares with its stylish predecessor beyond their shared premise.
Some of that stark difference is by design, especially when it comes to the particular space oddity anchoring this continuation. In the first four episodes of the season, Ejiofor’s Farraday represents the show’s most purposeful and successful deviation from the one at the heart of Walter Tevis’ novel and Nicolas Roeg’s adaptation,...

Camera are rolling on an ITV drama that tells the true story of Britain’s biggest ever police manhunt.
The Hunt For Raoul Moat will explore the major 2010 police operation to apprehend fugitive Raoul Moat, who went on the run in Northumbria after killing one person and wounding two others.
The drama focuses on the innocent victims of Moat’s crimes – Christopher Brown, Samantha Stobbart and PC David Rathband; the police officers who put themselves in the firing line to apprehend Moat; and a local journalist who sought to tell Moat’s real story in a landscape of sensationalist reporting and social media provocation.
It will begin with Moat ex-partner Stobbart piecing her life back together following Moat’s imprisonment for assault. After he is released, he attempts to rekindle their relationship but when Moat realises that won’t happen, arms himself with a shotgun and confronts her and new partner Brown.

Showtime offers the next step to the universe of The Man Who Fell To Earth with its upcoming series of the same name starring Chiwetel Ejofor and Naomie Harris. While not a remake Nicolas Roeg’s 1976 film starring David Bowie series, executive producer, writer and director Alex Kurtzman said the series seeks to pay tribute to previous forms of the sci-fi story.
“I think it’s amazing and it’s beautiful that Walter Teviis is having is moment right now. I wish he had more of it when he was alive so he could appreciate how much people appreciate his work,” Kurtman said of the novelist, who also penned The Queen’s Gambit. I think we felt a tremendous debt to honor the legacy of David Bowie, of Walter Tevis and Nicolas Roeg – of all the people who built these extraordinary stories because they clearly wrenched their hearts open to tell them.
