- An acclaimed R'n'B and Pop songwriter whose worldwide multimillion selling hits include "Tweedlee Dee" (recorded by La Vern Baker in 1955), "Return To Sender" (1962) and "Devil In Disguise" (1963) (the latter two were million selling hits for Elvis Presley).
- In 2003, a previously unreleased recording by Elvis Presley, "I'm a Roustabout", written by Winfield Scott and not used in Roustabout (1964), surfaced and received critical acclaim. In 2006, it was added by RCA/BMG Records to the "Elvis 2nd To None" CD collection.
- He is not to be confused with long time Elvis Presley guitarist (Winfield) Scotty Moore.
