Dr. Mani Bhaumik is the creator and co-executive producer of the award
winning animated TV Series, Cosmic Quantum Ray. The TV series intended
to spark children's interest in quantum physics and cosmology, has been
selected as a special public outreach program by IYA2009 declared by UN
General Assembly and partially administered by UNESCO. The show has
been distributed for broadcast worldwide and would premier in the US
cable TV market in fall of 2010, reaching 60 million households through
the newly created HUB channel.
As a quantum physicist, Dr. Bhaumik is a co-inventor of excimer laser that made possible the highly popular LASIK eye surgery for 15 million people worldwide. He is an international best selling author. Two of his books, Code Name God dealing with science and spirituality and The Cosmic Detective--a primer on cosmology for everyone, have been translated into eight different languages.
For his outstanding scientific contributions, Dr. Bhaumik has been elected by his peers as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers as well as the American Physical Society. His Alma Mater, Indian Institute of Technology recognized his lifetime academic achievements by awarding him an honorary D. Sc. degree. He taught quantum physics and astronomy at California State University in Long Beach, California. Dr. Bhaumik lives in Southern California and is associated with several significant programs at UCLA. As a principal investigator he is engaged in research on foundations of quantum physics at the department of Physics and Astronomy. Notably, Dr. Bhaumik serves as a member of the advisory board of the Mani L. Bhaumik Institute for Theoretical Physics as well as the physical sciences at UCLA. He continues to work on many other creative projects, including a feature film based on his book Code Name God.
