Parannoul and Fax Gang have joined forces for a new collaborative album, Scattersun, set for release on June 12th via Topshelf Records. Alongside the announcement, they have dropped the single “Lullaby for a Memory.” Stream the tune below.
Co-written entirely through text messages, Scattersun finds Parannoul and Fax Gang (an international hip-hop collective that formed over Discord) reaching new heights of genre experimentation. Fusing elements of electronica, cloud rap, shoegaze, breakcore, and more, the record is thoroughly epic in scope and expands upon their first collaborative effort, 2022’s “Four Walls.”
As the first taste, “Lullaby for a Memory” showcases the project’s breadth of influences. With skittering sequenced drums, Auto-Tuned vocals, and glitchy electronics, it’s an energetic, explosive composition that comes complete with an equally engaging music video.
Last year, Parannoul released their third full-length LP, After the Magic (which landed on our list of the best albums of...

Mary Simms’ story is a testament to Black oppression. During the trying times when Black people were considered the property of White men, Mary Simms was one of the many forgotten names who stood up to the atrocities of White entitlement. Even though Apple TV+’s historical drama Manhunt follows the detailed narratives of Edwin Stanton and John Wilkes Booth, it also sheds light on other characters like Mary Simms. It was probably one of the most harrowing periods in American history that shaped the future of the country. It might even be one of the few wars that the country actually fought for righteous reasons (scoffs). If it weren’t for Lincoln, it would’ve taken another century for the US to abolish slavery and free the Black people. But again, in my very honest opinion, in the present day, the American Civil War might just have become a tool.

Manhunt by Apple TV+ finally reaches a bittersweet conclusion. In the previous episode, Stanton’s Union servicemen finally caught up to Booth and Herold, who were hiding in a barn near Richmond, Virginia. The Union Cavalry arrived at the scene, leading to Booth getting shot at the hands of Sergeant Corbett. In a manner similar to Lincoln, Booth too was shot in the back of his head. Stanton orders his men to have Booth’s body buried where nobody can find him and make him a martyr.
Now that the President’s assassin is executed, Stanton and his men proceed to arrange a case against the Confederates, through which he wishes to accuse Jefferson Davis of conspiracy against the President. Stanton and his men call it the ‘grand conspiracy’ but also feel that this plan is far-fetched. Regardless, with President Johnson’s approval, they made a case and gathered enough...

In the previous episode of Manhunt, the Union officers were finally closing in on the President’s assassin. In order to pander to the former Confederates and gain their support, President Johnson takes back the land grants given by the War Department under the Lincoln Reconstruction plans. As a result, Mary Simms also had to give up her land where she had started a school for the Black folks. Mary is compelled to go back to the abusive Dr Mudd’s house and work for him once again.
When Stanton and his men get back on the spy trail to pursue Booth and Herold, they stumble upon Mudd’s house. Stanton and his men realize that Mudd’s house being on the Confederate spy line and his treating Booth wasn’t a mere coincidence and that he was indeed a Confederate sympathizer himself. After Stanton finds a pair of boots...

In the previous episode of Manhunt, Stanton had been researching the spy lines that the Confederacy Secret Services took. He believed that Booth and his accomplice, Herold, took this road for a safe passage to Richmond, Virginia. In search of answers, Stanton comes across Sanders, whom he had suspicions about being a Confederate sympathizer. It turns out Sanders was indeed one, as he had also been responsible for funding the Manhattan fire plot. Being a millionaire, he benefits the people in power, which is why it wasn’t easy to arrest him.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed President Johnson promises Stanton that he’ll bring the Confederate collaborators to justice but then pardons them to win their support for his own interests. Edwin Stanton’s son, Eddie, finds out that Sanders was supplying uniforms to the soldiers, a responsibility under Stanton’s office. These uniforms had traces of smallpox and had...

The Apple TV+ original Manhunt is back with yet another gripping episode about Edwin Stanton’s hunt for the man who killed his friend, President Abraham Lincoln. Edwin was Lincoln’s follower in his battle to make America the land of the free, and even after the President’s unfortunate death, he continued to adhere to Lincoln’s ideals. Even though the flame that Lincoln started died down with Andrew Johnson’s presidency, Stanton had to make sure that America didn’t become a country where you could own another human being or even get away with shooting the President of the country.
In the previous episode, we saw the enactment of Lincoln’s policy on letting Black men enlist as servicemen and gain the opportunity to vote. As the country opens up to the idea of seeing people of color as equals, the Confederate agenda still runs rampant. During one such racially driven act,...

The latest conspiracy thriller by Apple TV+ offers a gritty narrative following the death of the American President, Abraham Lincoln. Most of the story is depicted through the eyes of Edwin Stanton, a close friend of Lincoln and the Secretary of War. He takes it upon himself to unearth the conspiracy that got his friend killed and catch the people responsible.
In the previous episode, almost 30 minutes before the assassination of Lincoln, Lewis Powell and David Herold orchestrated the assassination of the US Secretary of State. Lewis invaded Henry Seward’s house and stabbed him. Meanwhile, John Wilkes Booth, a famous actor, had been planning Lincoln’s murder. A day before the tragic incident, he ran into Parker, Lincoln’s security personal, who ended up revealing to him that he doesn’t need to keep an eye on the President while he is in the booth at the theater. Few moments are more infamous in American history than the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. After years of fighting the Civil War, Lincoln had finally completed his task. With Lee’s surrender, he wanted to move forward with the act of reconstruction. Obviously, we know John Wilkes Booth cut that time short, but the story behind Booth’s capture proves thrilling throughout Manhunt. Excellent craftwork and a committed cast help Manhunt one of the sleeper achievements of 2024 on TV.
Manhunt – The Plot
The new Apple TV+ series centers on two stories – Booth (Anthony Boyle) as part of a larger conspiracy and Edwin Stanton’s (Tobias Menzies) hunt for the traitors. Over the course of the series, we watch as Booth and his compatriots move the final pieces into position to kill Lincoln. When the right opportunity presents itself, their three-pronged plan springs into action. Simultaneously, we watch Stanton move from a role as U.

Plot: Based on the Edgar Award-winning non-fiction book from author James L. Swanson, “Manhunt” is a conspiracy thriller about one of the best known but least understood crimes in history, the astonishing story of the hunt for John Wilkes Booth in the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
Review: The life and untimely death of Abraham Lincoln have been fodder for film and television since the invention of the medium. Before that, books and stage plays told the story of the President who ended the Civil War, abolished slavery, and died unceremoniously. But, in all of the tales of Honest Abe and his killer, John Wilkes Booth, few have chronicled the tumultuous aftermath between Ford’s Theater and the capture of those who perpetrated the heinous murder. Aside from Robert Redford’s The Conspirator, which focused on the trial of Booth’s accomplices, we have never gotten a full retelling of the events.

The character of Harcourt Fenton "Harry" Mudd, as played by actor Roger C. Carmel, appeared in two episodes of the original "Star Trek" and one episode of "Star Trek: The Animated Series." In 1966's "Mudd's Women," he served as a seller and transporter of mail-order brides. The women he transports (they all hitch a ride on the Enterprise) happen to be the most attractive women imaginable and are decked out on the finest diaphanous parkas that 1960s sci-fi fashion had to offer. It's later revealed that Mudd is a notorious swindler and smuggler and is wanted for various criminal endeavors throughout the quadrant. It's also revealed that the women he is transporting are made artificially more attractive through the regular ingestion of a miracle pill that temporarily transforms them into models. This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Star Trek: Lower Decks."
"Star Trek: Lower Decks" has gained a reputation for taking some bold swipes and making plenty of affectionate jokes at the expense of some of the silliest moments in the "Trek" franchise. And with over 50 years of canon, well, there's no shortage of easy targets and deep-cut references to focus on in any given episode. In essence, it's precisely the kind of comedic material that could only come from the minds of the biggest nerds and most adoring fans out there, which the writers so obviously are. But who says the broad range of this satirical show's irreverent sense of humor must be limited to "Star Trek" alone?
This latest episode, the penultimate of the season, took aim directly at a venerated sci-fi franchise set in space, as usual ... but, for once, it set its sights on that galaxy far,...

A Michigan venue has put Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin on blast after the band apparently canceled its upcoming shows, effectively banning the rock act from playing there ever again.
Puddle of Mudd were set to play a two-night stand at The Machine Shop in Flint on September 15th and 16th. However, a post on the venue’s Facebook page stated the band had canceled all of its upcoming live performances, including the two shows at The Machine Shop. In making the announcement, the venue put the entirety of the blame on Scantlin.
The Machine Shop’s post read:
“Puddle Of Mudd has cancelled all their upcoming concerts including the shows September 15 and 16 at The Machine Shop. This is not a ‘due to circumstances beyond our control’ cancellation. This is 100% Wes. The Machine Shop, his band and everyone involved are very disappointed.

Puddle of Mudd will return with a new album titled Ubiquitous on September 8th. In advance of the LP, the band has unveiled the single “My Baby.”
In recent years, frontman Wes Scantlin has made more headlines for his legal troubles and onstage meltdowns than his music, but Puddle of Mudd keep chugging along. Ubiquitous will serve as the follow-up to 2019’s Welcome to Galvania, which had marked the band’s first album in 10 years.
In a brief statement, Scantlin said, “Fans can expect another really catchy, hooky record from Puddle of Mudd!”
The single “My Baby” is indeed hooky, with a clear Nirvana influence in the verses. Scantlin infamously delivered a woeful cover of Nirvana’s “About a Girl” a few years ago, later admitting that the performance “looked and sounded like total shit.”
Puddle of Mudd have a smattering of US shows coming up throughout the next few months.

Sydney Sweeney has certainly been happier.
The Emmy-nominated “Euphoria” and “White Lotus” star shut down assumptions that a “surprise hoedown”-themed birthday party for her mother was pro-Trump with Maga references. Sweeney, whose attorney mother Lisa Sweeney (née Mudd) turned 60 this past weekend, shared photos on social media of the birthday bash in Idaho.
“No better way to celebrate my momma than a surprise hoedown,” Sweeney captioned.
The select pictures showed Sweeney riding a mechanical bull with her mom, with one relative wearing a “Blue Lives Matter” shirt in the background. Sweeney’s brother Trent Sweeney uploaded a picture capturing guests in custom parody hats reading “Make Sixty Great Again.”
“You guys, this is wild,” Sweeney tweeted after facing backlash. “An innocent celebration for my mom’s milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone and Happy Birthday Mom!

Comebacks are funny. Most of the time, in order for a comeback to make sense, everyone has to be aware of the thing or person that had left and is now returning. After all, the Empire can’t strike back if you’re not aware of how it was doing beforehand.
This may seem obvious, but it’s worth noting because every once in a while, in big sci-fi narratives, the opposite occurs: a comeback is a huge deal, but knowledge of anything pre-comeback is optional, or perhaps, irrelevant. It sounds nuts, but this specific kind of comeback perfectly describes Khan Noonien Singh in 1982’s The Wrath of Khan. 40 summers after Kirk screamed “Khaaaaan!!!” the true brilliance of this film is how it tricked everyone into “remembering” Khan in the first place.
