"All that crazy, hardcore training you made me - thanks to that I'm still alive." You don't say! So maybe training pays off? 101 Films has revealed an official trailer for Jade, an action thriller arriving on VOD this summer. Another of these dime-a-dozen junk action movies being dumped out on streaming and VOD at home. It's from the same stuntman filmmaker as Hard Home and Air Force One Down (ugh). Jade follows a woman who comes between a powerful businessman and a gang leader in their search for a hard drive that could damage the operations of Interpol. The woman is required to use her unique set of skills to retrieve the drive and stay alive. Introducing Shaina West starring as Jade, with an ensemble including Mickey Rourke, Mark Dacascos, Katherine McNamara, Keith Jardine, Steven Michael Quezada, and Chris Bruno. This doesn't seem as bad as Bamford's other action films,...

Walker is one of the few shows on The CW from an earlier regime, back when the network catered to younger audiences.
Of course, the series skews older than The CW’s typical series, which probably explains why it survived when the network’s younger-skewing fare like Charmed, Dynasty, Legacies, and Nancy Drew all got the pink slip.
Walker, a reboot of the successful Walker, Texas Ranger, has managed to break through as a reboot because it has brought plenty of contemporary storylines to a format that worked well not so long ago.
As we delve into Walker Season 4, the series is at a tipping point because it will be judged more harshly than some other offerings, such as Wild Cards, which has performed admirably as a co-production.
Plenty of details have emerged about Walker Season 4, but we don’t want you to do all the digging for intel.

How many times have you seen this plot: terrorists take over a big (fill in the blank); they easily overcome the personnel there to protect it, yet one brave soul manages to kill or overcome them all and foil their plans. Fill the blank with a battleship or train and you get Under Siege 1 & 2, from when Steven Seagal was still watchable. Make it a high rise or airport? You get Die Hard 1 & 2. A hockey rink during the NHL finals? Sudden Death, with a young Jean Claude Van Damme. Commercial airliner? Wesley Snipes in Passenger 57. Air Force One? “President” Harrison Ford.
These films have two things in common: among even more similarly themed movies, these are just the titles that came to mind while I was watching. Secondly, they’re all better than this new rehash,...

"Sooner or later he will make a mistake. And it will be the last mistake he ever mistakes." Paramount has revealed an official trailer for an action thriller movie titled Air Force One Down, yes they're ripping off the "White House Down" series without an ounce of shame. On her first assignment aboard Air Force One, a rookie Secret Service agent faces the ultimate test when terrorists hijack the plane, aiming to disrupt a big energy deal. With the president's life on the line and a global crisis at stake, her bravery and her skills get pushed to the limit in a relentless battle that could change the course of history. The film stars Katherine McNamara, Ian Bohen, Anthony Michael Hall, Dascha Polanco, and Rade Serbedzija. This looks like some direct-to-the-bargain-bin action trash, not a single thing about it looks interesting or entertaining. // Continue Reading ›...

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) announced today that since its inception in 2008, the nonprofit has over $795 million pledged to fund critically needed cancer research.
Commemorating SU2C’s progress over the last 15 years, the organization’s biennial telecast aired on Saturday, August 19 and highlighted special moments with stars across film, television, sports and journalism who have supported the SU2C movement throughout the years.
Since the last telecast in 2021, funding pledged from the show as well as corporate, foundation and individual donors has totaled over $60.1 million.
“More than 1.9 million people in the U.S. are anticipated to be diagnosed with cancer in 2023; this disease affects so many – including myself and my fellow SU2C co-founders – it is critical that we come together and take action so that we can continue to help more cancer survivors thrive,” said Katie Couric, SU2C co-founder. “We are so appreciative of the generosity of the entertainment community,...

It’s final. There will be no second season for Walker Independence. Efforts to find a new home for the CBS Studios-produced Walker spinoff were unsuccessful following cancellation by the CW, sources have confirmed to Deadline.
Executive producer Jared Padalecki earlier told Deadline’s sister site TVLine, which first reported the show would not be moving elsewhere, that they were “aggressively looking for a place that Walker Independence could land,” but ultimately came up short.

Walker: Independence will not be getting a reprieve following its cancellation at The CW.
When the Walker spinoff got canceled in May, there were efforts to find a new home for the drama series.
TV Line reported Friday that producers had exhausted all avenues, and the show will not be returning in any capacity.
It's a tough blow for fans of the drama series, but at least we know that there was a push to get more episodes from the cast and creatives.
"We are aggressively looking for a place that Walker Independence can land," Padalecki told TV Line in May after the cancellation.

In Nexstar's attempt to revamp The CW, many current series will not survive into the 2023-24 season.
One of those canceled shows is Walker: Independence.
As a spinoff of Walker, one of the network's most-watched series, many thought it had a fighting shot at a pickup.
Series star, Katherine McNamara, is speaking out about the decision to end the show.

In her first proper interview since Walker Independence was cancelled (nearly a month ago), series lead Katherine McNamara notes, unsurprisingly, “It’s not the news we wanted to hear.”
McNamara had appeared on multiple podcasts that were released after the cancellation news broke, but they had all been taped prior. But as a guest on The Wayne Ayers Podcast (the full episode drops this Wednesday), she was able to actually post mortem it all, saying that “one of the showrunners and one of the producers called me” with the news, “and obviously it’s not the call we wanted to get.

Plot: A down-on-his-luck publicist gets his lucky break when he discovers a mute man recently released from a mental health facility looks just like a method actor who refuses to leave his trailer.
Review: Charlie Day’s directorial debut has had a long road to the big screen. Originally announced in 2018, Fool’s Paradise began as a project called El Tonto. After assembling an all-star cast, the pandemic forced the film into a hiatus which turned into rewrites by Day and, eventually, the filming of new scenes. The finished project boasts a massive cast of famous faces, including the late Ray Liotta, for a satirical look at Hollywood reminiscent of countless films from the 1960s and 1970s. With his sense of humor in the right place, Day makes a valiant effort in his debut behind the camera but falls short of delivering a consistent finished product.

Walker: Independence was cancelled by The CW earlier this week, but there is hope the series could still return for season two. Jared Padalecki, an executive producer of the historical drama, says the series is aggressively being shopped to other outlets.
Starring Katherine McNamara, Matt Barr, Katie Findlay, Greg Hovanessian, Philemon Chambers, Justin Johnson Cortez, Lawrence Kao, and Gabriela Quezada, Walker: Independence follows Abby Walker (McNamara) as she settles in Independence, Texas after the death of her husband during the late 1800s. The first season ended with a cliffhanger that set up a significant new threat for season two.

Charlie Day may be making his directorial debut, but he is sticking with the writers amid the WGA strike.
The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star premiered his new feature Fool’s Paradise — which he wrote, directed and stars in — on Tuesday in Los Angeles, but after stopping to take photos, skipped the entire press line. Several reporters begged Day to come do interviews as he replied, “I wish I could!” and proceeded to stand off to the side with his team for the remainder of the carpet.
Reps for Day did not return a request for comment, but a source confirmed he skipped doing interviews because of the strike. Per WGA rules, a guild member cannot do press promoting a project. Day is a member of the WGA, most notably for his work on Sunny, which premieres its 16th season in June.

The CW announced on Tuesday (May 11) that it was canceling Walker prequel series Walker: Independence after just one season, and the show’s star Katherine McNamara had resigned herself to this unfortunate fate. “When it comes to this year specifically, I knew that everything’s changing at The CW; everything’s changing in television in general. And there are so many options and opportunities and unorthodox ways in which shows stay, continue, get canceled, get renewed somewhere else entirely,” McNamara told Collider on Monday, May 10, a day before the cancellation was announced. “I have become so resigned when it comes to these things; I just leave it up to the television gods,” she continued. “I’ve gone, ‘You know what? I’ve put my heart and soul into this show; I’ve had the best time with this cast and crew.'” Developed by Seamus Kevin Fahey and Anna Fricke,...

After The CW renewed Walker for a shortened fourth season, it was inevitable the news would not be good for the prequel series Walker: Independence.
The network officially canceled Walker: Independence Tuesday night, months after the freshman season was capped at 13 episodes.
Admittedly, interest in Walker: Independence paled compared to the original series, but the numbers were still substantial -- by CW standards.
With a week of DVR viewing factored in, Walker: Independence Season 1 averaged just under one million viewers and a 0.1 rating in the demo.
It ranked as the network's #4 most-watched series among total viewers, which was a decent metric.
Set in the late 1800s, the series followed Abby Walker, an affluent and tough-minded Bostonian whose husband was murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West.
After crossing paths with Calian, a curious Apache tracker, Abby arrived in the town of Independence, Texas, where she encountered diverse...

The same source confirmed that “Walker: Independence’s” cancelation will have no impact on the future of “Walker.” At the moment, no other decisions have been made about pending shows at the network.
This news comes ahead of The CW’s upfronts, which are scheduled for May 18. It also marks the first CW show to be axed during this TV season. At the moment, the fates of “All American: Homecoming,” “Gotham Knights,” “Kung Fu,” “Superman and Lois” and “The Winchesters” are still up in the air.

In years past, The CW was a little trigger-happy with renewals, but now that Nexstar Media Group has a majority stake in the company… those days are gone. While we have seen many CW shows get the axe over the past year, some have continued, including Jared Padalecki’s reimagining of Walker, Texas Ranger. The CW announced today that Walker has been renewed for season 4 but with a decreased episode count.
Walker season 4 will consist of 13 episodes, placing it behind seasons 1 and 3, which had 18, and season 2, which had 20. “I’m so excited and grateful to continue the ‘Walker’ legacy for another season alongside our partners at CBS Studios and The CW,” Jared Padalecki said in a statement. “We can’t wait to make Season 4 bigger and better than ever and to lasso even more fans into the ‘Walker’ family. The series served as a prequel to fellow CW show “Walker,” which was just renewed for Season 4 at the network.
The show was set in the late 1800s. Per the official description, it followed “Abby Walker (Katherine McNamara), an affluent and tough-minded Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West. The cast also included Katie Findlay, Lawrence Kao, Matt Barr, Philemon Chambers, Greg Hovanessian, and Gabriela Quezada.

Walker: Independence is no more.
The CW has opted to cancel the prequel to the network’s Walker reboot after a single season. The series starring Katherine McNamara was the last of The CW’s bubble shows from CBS Studios. The news comes mere minutes after the Jared Padalecki-led Walker was renewed for an abbreviated 13-episode fourth season at the Nexstar-controlled CW.
Walker: Independence debuted in October as a midseason bow after station group Nexstar took control of The CW. The 1800s-set series wrapped its 13-episode run in early March with a mere 440,000 live same-day viewers, a stat that is increasingly important to Nexstar as it looks to make The CW profitable.
Anna Fricke served as showrunner on the prequel series and will continue in that role on the flagship series for the 2023-24 broadcast season. While Walker ranks as The CW’s most-watched linear series, the spinoff failed to deliver similar results.

The CW has canceled Walker prequel Walker Independence after one season.
The move, which was expected, follows the CW’s renewal of mothership series Walker earlier today.
The bulk of the CW’s existing scripted series will be canceled this week as the network is transitioning to a new business model of lower-cost scripted programming in pursuit of profitability. While Walker is the CW’s most watched series, Walker: Independence was in the middle of the pack ratings-wise.
