Named one of the ASC's 2018 Rising Stars of Cinematography, Rafael Leyva is a narrative Los Angeles based Director of Photography from Ponce, Puerto Rico. This island native is best known for his work on The Last Rampage (2017) Directed by Dwight Little, Disney+ Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion (2022) being the first single camera Latinx series, and The Oath for Sony Pictures (2018).
Rafael was featured in the June 2022 Issue of ICG Magazine for his work on Ultra Violet and Black Scorpion, and in 2019 the International Cinematographers Guild named him as one their Generation Next DPs for his work on multiple narrative projects. Since then, Rafael has lensed for Disney, SONY Pictures, Netflix, FOX, NBC, Hallmark, among others. Mr. Leyva specializes in feature films and is focused on capturing strong compelling stories on 35mm/65mm film.
