If the title of this wacky comedy seems a little weird, that’s probably because the comedy troupe Please Don’t Destroy are largely unknown to UK audiences. This is their big screen debut, following a series of comedy sketches that lead to them becoming regular contributors to Saturday Night Live in the US. As such, it’s something of a hit-and-miss affair, but the hits are just about good enough to make it worth your while.

This post contains spoilers for "Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain."
The comedy trio known as Please Don't Destroy has been making a splash at "Saturday Night Live" for the past couple years. Creating fast-paced, absurd, pre-recorded sketches starring themselves, as well as being part of the writing staff, the trio has made a quite name for themselves. Last weekend, their first movie debuted on Peacock, "Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain," and it's the kind of comedy that we wish could have been given a theatrical release in order to have that communal experience of laughing out loud with a crowd. But at least it's getting a chance to find an audience. Plus, director Paul Briganti is used to people watching his stuff at home anyway.
Briganti worked at "SNL" for six years before departing the series late in 2021, just as Please Don't Destroy had joined the series.

Please Don’t Destroy, the comedy troupe comprising NYU alums Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, broke through the haze of hopeful comedians with quick-hitting sketches on social media. Soon after their speedy Internet fame, the three writers joined Saturday Night Live to produce more short videos, this time for a show that had already employed two of their fathers. The group weaves together a mixture of Gen Z and Millennial charm, striving for weirdness just as much as witty comedy. Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain serves as the trio’s first foray into film, the three leading and sharing co-writing credits––an apt reminder that some jokes shouldn’t run for 90 minutes.
The Treasure of Foggy Mountain begins with Marshall, Higgins, and Herlihy playing versions of themselves, albeit much less successful, as three roommates all working for a Bass Pro Shops-esque establishment. Like their skits,...

Sketch comedy is inherently hit-or-miss. When you watch any given episode of the comic staple "Saturday Night Live," it's hard to imagine a single installment over its nearly 50-year run that is wall-to-wall perfection; some sketches and running gags and characters are just stronger than others. The same can be true for movies either inspired by famous sketches or created by sketch-comedy writers and performers. The latest example is the straight-to-Peacock feature film "Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain," in which the three guys of Please Don't Destroy, best known for their sketches on recent seasons of "SNL," team up to save their friendship and locate a multi-million-dollar treasure before anyone else does. Portions of this film are clever or funny (though not often to the level of laugh-out-loud hilarious), but even clocking in at 90 minutes, it wears out its welcome.

Like a Gen Z version of The Lonely Island but with a lot more smash-cuts and screaming, comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy — Martin Herlihy, John Higgins, and Ben Marshall — has made a name for themselves on the strength of the surreal and frequently self-deprecating digital shorts they contribute to “Saturday Night Live.” In “Plirts,” they pitched Austin Butler on the idea of wearing a shirt made out of plastic. In “Tommy,” the boys make the shocking discovery that their best friend is actually a 67-year-old Irish man (Brendan Gleeson). “We Got Her a Cat” is nominally about trying to surprise Zoë Kravitz with a new pet, but the real punchline is the reveal that Paul Dano has been living in the Please Don’t Destroy office while doing research for a movie about “three guys who suck.”

If you’re wondering about the ungainly title of the new comedy film premiering on Peacock, then you’re probably not a sketch comedy aficionado or regular Saturday Night Live viewer. The first part of Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain refers to the comedy group consisting of 20-somethings Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy, whose absurdist videos have been a regular feature on SNL for the past couple of years. The second part of the title calls to mind the sort of old-fashioned adventure movies geared toward kids that have inspired this ramshackle spoof reminding you that sketch comedy is best appreciated in small doses. For proof, look no further than such misfires as Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy, It’s Pat, MacGruber and, well, you get the idea.

It’s rare that Conan O’Brien plays a character rather than himself in on-screen cameos. But he happily took on the role of Farley in Peacock‘s The Treasure of Foggy Mountain comedy, created by the guys of Saturday Night Live‘s Please Don’t Destroy, Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy. In The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, three deadbeat co-workers fend off hairless bears, desperate park rangers, and a hypocritical cult leader while searching for a priceless treasure. O’Brien, Meg Stalter, Bowen Yang, John Goodman (as the narrator), and more comedic favs appear in the movie, premiering exclusively on Peacock on Friday, November 17. In the video interview above, director Paul Briganti (who worked on Please Don’t Destroy videos on SNL before signing on for this flick) shares what O’Brien was like on set, working with producer Judd Apatow on the film, deleted scenes, and more.

Zany comedy is alive and well, thanks to Paul Briganti’s Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain. Reminiscent of films like Dude, Where’s My Car, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, and Rat Race, today’s Please Don’t Destroy trailer finds three losers hoping to make a name for themselves by finally uncovering the lost treasure of Foggy Bottom. Unfortunately for the dim-witted trio, everyone and their grandmother knows about the jackpot and will stop at nothing to claim its prize of a rumored $100 million in spoils.

Comedy troupe Please Don’t Destroy seemed to come right when we needed them.
The bite-sized TikTok videos from 20-something New Yorkers Martin Herlihy, John Higgins and Ben Marshall were fixtures on many a timeline through the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, and it’s easy to see why. The three NYU alum’s easy camaraderie and absurdist riffing captured, at times, not just the travails of roommate living but also how it felt being cooped up indoors with little to pass the time but self-built entertainment.
Now, their comedy and collaboration have seen them working for “Saturday Night Live” — and through a second historic event: the ongoing Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes against the Hollywood studios. Their first national tour incidentally rolled out with 25 dates across the States this summer, covering Philadelphia to Dallas.

Back in 2021, "Saturday Night Live" debuted recorded sketches from the comedy group known as Please Don't Destroy. Having carved out a viral comedy presence on social media, the trio of Martin Herlihy, John Higgins, and Ben Marshall have established themselves as the latest successors to The Lonely Island's game-changing SNL Digital Shorts. Frequently, Please Don't Destroy's sketches have been among the best efforts in each new episode of "SNL," such as the one below featuring Taylor Swift. Beyond that, Herlihy, Higgins, and Marshall have also been responsible for writing plenty of other memorable sketches from the past two seasons.

The upcoming film from Please Don’t Destroy — the comedy trio that broke out online before being picked up by Saturday Night Live to produce the show’s digital shorts — will debut on Universal’s sister streamer Peacock on Nov. 17.
The untitled film was initially planned for a theatrical release on Aug. 18, but that date will now be taken over by R-rated dog comedy Strays. Universal Pictures has changed its release plans for its as-yet-untitled buddy comedy from comedians Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy — the SNL writing trio collectively known as Please Don’t Destroy. While the film was previously set to hit theaters on August 18th, it will now debut exclusively on Peacock on November 17th.
Produced by Judd Apatow for Apatow Productions and Jimmy Miller for Mosaic, the film centers on three childhood friends who live and work together, and question where their lives are headed — if anywhere at all. Completely ill-equipped and out of their element, they set off to find a lost treasure rumored to be buried in their local mountains. They subsequently discover that finding the treasure is actually the easiest part of the adventure.

A new buddy comedy from Please Don’t Destroy, the writing trio of “Saturday Night Live” fame, will no longer play in theaters. Instead, the untitled movie will premiere exclusively on Peacock, the streaming service owned by NBCUniversal, on Nov. 17.
Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy, better known as Please Don’t Destroy, wrote the film, which was produced by Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller. The story centers on three childhood friends who live and work together. When the threesome decides they don’t like their life trajectory, they set off to find a gold treasure that is rumored to be buried in the nearby mountain. They discover that finding the treasure is actually the easiest part of the adventure.
Universal didn’t give a reason for the move from theaters (it was set to release on Aug. 18) to streaming, but it’s been a tough environment for theatrical comedies.

Rapper and We Are Who We Are actor Kid Cudi, who served as musical guest, treated Saturday Night Live viewers with a musical sketch, that also featured another surprise guest.

Donna Stern (Slate) is an unapologetic stand up comedian who managed to get dumped, fired and pregnant in quick succession. Better at cracking jokes about flatulence and the contents of her knickers, Donna has a lot of growing up to do. So, after her one night stand with a guy not even remotely her type, she decides to make a choice most responsible to her future. With the support of her friends, Donna decides to have an abortion, and learns what it is like to be brave, honest and vulnerable in real life, not just on stage.
Obvious Child is a big fan of brutally honest comedy. Not the ‘Oh he slipped over on a banana skin that is obviously hilarious so you should laugh!

While staring at his phone. And confessing that he’s been banging her friend Kate. Perhaps Donna’s actual problem is that she’s been saddled with a heartless douchebag boyfriend for quite some time, but...

In the indie flick Obvious Child, Jenny Slate plays Donna, a Brooklyn-based standup comic who is unexpectedly dumped by her long-time boyfriend (Paul Briganti). What’s a sad twenty-something to do? Head to the bar to pound beers with a bestie (the Saturday Night Live alum’s real-life best friend Gabe Liedman) and end up in the arms of a sweet stranger (The Office regular Jake Lacy) in a one-night stand, obviously.
But what happens next — spoiler alert! — isn’t exactly traditional rom-com material. Donna loses her job, finds out she’s pregnant, and speedily makes an appointment for an abortion,...
