Reintroducing villains or anti-heroes from former movies hasn’t really been MCU’s style ever since it was kicked off with Iron Man back in 2008. Characters like Loki and Bucky Barnes have been an exception in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe as they have already redeemed themselves in multiple movies and series over the years.

However, we are all set to see multiple anti-heroes from former Marvel movies reprise their role and combine their forces to take down a greater threat in the upcoming film, Thunderbolts*.
Kevin Feige opens up about the asterisk in Thunderbolts*
Thunderbolts is the name of an anti-hero team appearing in Marvel comics that mostly consists of reformed supervillains. A film of the same name is also currently under development that will most probably explore the origins of this anti-hero team.

"Thor: Love and Thunder" was one hell of a ride, as were the Marvel Studios announcements from D23 Expo that took place earlier this month. While no updates were made at the semi-annual convention regarding Thor's next movie, we still got to see the extensive creative process that each film undergoes before it arrives in theaters.
If you did miss "Love and Thunder" in theaters, then we have good news for you: the film finally arriving soon on Blu-ray. Sure, Taika Waititi's newest take on the Asgardian God of Thunder is currently streaming on Disney+, but we here at /Film love a good piece of physical media, and this upcoming 4K steelbook being sold exclusively at Best Buy is no exception. The art for this release is outstanding, and it's got everything you need or could ever want from "Love and Thunder"; Thor in casual clothes, Jane as The Mighty Thor,...

As part of Marvel's big panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the studio has released a first look at "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania" in the form of the movie's first poster, created by their own Director of Visual Development, Andy Park. It's not exactly a theatrical one sheet, but more of an illustrated piece of art, a tradition that Marvel Studios has held for their projects at every convention.
The image not only has our titular superheroes in their usual superhero suits, but it provides or first look at the superhero version of Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), who has also been given her own...

Our first look at the characters from “Ant-Man 3” arrived ahead of Marvel Studios’ big Hall H panel on Saturday, revealing not only the presence of Jonathan Majors’ villain Kang the Conqueror but the addition of Scott Lang’s daughter Cassie Lang all suited up.
The big reveal comes courtesy of the “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” poster unveiled by artist Andy Park.
Kathryn Newton (“13 Reasons Why”) fills the role of Cassie in the third “Ant-Man” film, aging the character up after Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang disappeared in the quantum real during the Thanos blip.
Just as in the comics, it appears she takes on a superheroic role in the latest sequel alongside Rudd’s Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp, although it’s unclear if she’ll be going by the moniker of Stinger.

Blade Runner 2049 notwithstanding, Thor: Ragnarok will be remembered as one of the best-looking movies of 2017.
Between them, writer-director Taika Waititi and Javier Aguirresarobe, the cinematographer tasked with bringing Sakaar’s technicolor vistas to life, created a wondrous space oddity for Thor’s third (and final?) solo adventure, and today brings forth a batch of beautiful concept art that allows you to trace the evolution of the hero’s gladiator costume in the pic, which originally looked quite different.

Tho:r Ragnarok has come and it's amazing. Everyone agrees... except for those who don't, and those are far and few. I thought it was amazing. I loved the characters and especially the whole look of the character designs. It's even cooler to see how they evolved over the process. Andy Park who worked on the pre-production concept art has recently shared some of his art on Twitter. And it's pretty rad.
One of the images features a worn down Thor. He looks tired, and beat. While it looks great, and very rustic, I really like that they cut his hair and made him more lively. I feel like Thor has evolved as a character from just a stupid bro, to a mopey bro, to a fully fleshed out friend. It's like a guy you can't stand in high school was humbled by the real world and became a cool guy...

Marvel Studios has released a new behind the scenes video for Thor: Ragnarok featuring some fun footage from the set of the highly anticipated movie. The featurette puts a focus on bringing more fun and more attitude to the franchise. As you've seen in the trailers, they've certainly succeeded in that. This is unlike any other Thor film that we've seen and I love the direction that they've taken it!
On top of the video footage from the film and the set, it also includes interviews with director Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth. I also included a new piece of epic promo art that you can see above created by Andy Park for the Art of the Film book that will be released for the movie. I love that it has the same vibe and style as a Drew Struzan poster.

Concept Artist Andy Park has got Ant Man fans buzzing after he shared some new artwork from the movie on his Instagram account. Park is known for designing costumes on films like Captain America: Civil War and Guardians of the Galaxy, and his new work of Scott Lang is no tiny accomplishment.
His first post shows Scott wearing a few different helmets.
These are 1st pass concept design takes on Ant-Man on the1st film. They were looking for a retro non-Stark look. This was Hank Pym's design sensibilities. As usual we start with the source material & look at his comic book look. And then we take the needs of our movie & make sense of the two. I always enjoy doing these faster concept designs rather than more rendered illustrations especially in 1st passes. But a lot of times we need to do the more rendered version to help sell it.

After two rip-roaring adventures and a box office gross north of $1.5 billion, the Guardians of the Galaxy are very much part of the furniture within Marvel’s ever-evolving cinematic universe. Not bad for a property revolving around one wisecracking space raccoon and a talking tree.
And so, after conquering the globe (galaxy?), James Gunn’s spacefaring A-holes are officially on hiatus until the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – Infinity War notwithstanding. Word is Marvel has quietly reserved a 2020 launch window for Star-Lord and the gang, which would align with Gunn’s current trajectory of one Guardians film every three years.
But until that day arrives, we can at least take solace in one thing: renown concept artist Andy Park continues to pump out alternate designs for some of the Guardians, after his latest piece introduced a more comics-faithful rendition of Zoe Saldana’s Gamora. Embedded below, the artwork...

Indeed, it was Blanchett’s power-mongering nemesis who stole headlines left, right, and center thanks to this morning’s trailer reveal, and we can only hope that the Oscar-winning actress can bring some much-needed nuance to Marvel’s roster of supervillains. Yes, for all of the...

It’s taken an awful long time – too long, perhaps – for Marvel to begin development on its first live-action, female-led superhero movie, but that prolonged wait has been brought to an end thanks to the upcoming Captain Marvel spinoff.
Headed up by the Oscar-winning Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island, Room), the Carol Danvers origin story made a big splash at San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks back, where it was revealed that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s standalone pic will take place in the 1990s, and it’ll feature Samuel L. Jackson’s McU mainstay, Nick Fury. The inclusion of Fury will no doubt strengthen Captain Marvel‘s ties to its overarching universe, but aside from the villainous Skrulls, little is currently known about the story that Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) have rustled up.

Around this time next year, audiences will have already seen Ant-Man and the Wasp, the sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man. The film itself is a big deal for a couple of reasons. The first is that Ant-Man was one of those films that most fans weren’t really sure about. It was a silly superhero with a comedic actor in the lead, and to add to the fire was the fact that Edgar Wright — who had developed the project for many years — left the project due to creative differences. Would a movie like this end up a complete failure and a stain on Marvel’s name? Obviously, we can say now that the answer is a resounding now. Ant-Man was received fairly well by critics and fans, and went on to make over $500 million worldwide — better than even Thor and Captain America did in their first films. This movie is also important because it features,...

Some great new concept art has surfaced online for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The art offers us a look at some of the alternate character designs that were done for several of the characters. Those characters include Ego, Mantis, Star-Lord, Gamora, Nebula, Rocket Raccoon, and more. It's pretty cool to see what some of these characters could've looked like in the movie. Ultimately, I loved what the final designs ended up being. I actually really dig some of these designs!
The first set of art that you see above of Ego and Mantis were created by Costume illustrator Christian Cordella (via Sr). The second series of art below comes from artist Andy Park. Check out all the designs and let us know what you think of the alternate designs.

Forget Star-Lord and Kurt Russell’s Ego, the Living Planet; there’s another family feud coursing through the veins of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and it involves the warring step-siblings of Thanos: Gamora and Nebula.
Played by Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan, respectively, the tension bubbling between Gamora and Nebula is enough to fuel one of the sequel’s more intriguing relationships, and writer-director James Gunn has already presented a spoiler-filled post-mortem on one key scene in particular.
But today’s media dump isn’t so much concerned with story details as it is the pre-production process on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, when Marvel concept artist Andy Park (Thor: Ragnarok) was in the process of rendering designs for a handful of the sequel’s primary characters with a “rock star vibe.” Posted to Park’s personal Instagram page (with a tip of the hat to Cbm...

It was announced at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend that the Flash movie is now called Flashpoint and will adapt Geoff Johns' famous and controversial storyline, which saw Barry Allen go back in time to save his mother from being killed by Reverse-Flash. The change had huge ramifications for the future of the DC Universe, altering many things and eventually leading to a brand new timeline known as the New 52 in the comics.

Marvel concept artist Andy Park has released an early piece of concept art for Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy. What's interesting about this is that it offers us a look at an alternate character design for the character in which she's purple. I also included another piece from the artist feature Gamora in rushing into battle with Rockett Raccoon. The artist says:
"Closeup of a concept design version I painted for Gamora. This was early days on the first #GuardiansoftheGalaxy so we played with the idea of giving her a different skin color. I had fun with this one."
I actually kinda like the purple version of Gamroa but ultimately the design they ended up going with for the character looks great and I love what Zoe Saldana has done with the character in bringing her to life. What do you think about the purple look of the character?...

Before the release of Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, there were only a handful of comic book adventures featuring the cosmic team of superheroes. For that reason, Marvel Studios didn’t have as many titles to turn to for inspiration as some of their other characters, something which must have made the design process pretty challenging for their concept artists.
However, it also means that they were able to come up with some very unique designs which borrowed elements from the source material and mixed them with new ideas. That’s evident from this latest batch of artwork courtesy of Andy Park, as he’s shared some amazing new shots of his early versions of Peter Quill/Star-Lord – which were teased last week.

Before Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy were given a makeover, the hero wore a helmet which looked a lot older than the current iteration along with a costume which was a tad more traditional. In a new batch of concept art released by Marvel Studios artist Andy Park, it's clear to see that these designs were influenced by that suit as well as providing an exciting/unique new take on it. None of the team's costumes have been drastically updated for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so it's unlikely we'll see Star-Lord rocking this look at any point in the near future. However, there's a chance that the Russo Brothers could give him and the team a new look in Avengers: Infinity War, but time will tell on that front. Do you guys think Peter Quill should have been wearing a suit like this...

Marvel concept artist Andy Park has released a few new pieces of concept art that he created for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. They feature some radically cool early character designs for Star-Lord and the Nova Corps. The designs are very different from what Gunn and Marvel ended up using. I like really the look of the pirate scavenger Star-Lord design and the Nova Corps design kinda reminds me of the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica.
You can see the art below, which also includes a few little notes from the artist. Take a look at the designs and tell us what you think of them. I personally love the designs that ended up being used in the film, but these are still pretty rad.

Before James Gunn’s 2014 film, the Guardians of the Galaxy were C-list heroes, perhaps even D. But then Marvel introduced them to the general public and, well, we all know how that went. The ragtag crew are now some of the most loved characters in all of cinema and will soon be seen in a sequel this spring.
Perhaps the most popular of the bunch is Star-Lord, who Chris Pratt brought to life so perfectly. Among other things, fans have been vocal about the costume chosen for the hero. It’s not entirely faithful to what’s seen in the comic books, especially when you look back at how the character was portrayed when he first debuted back in 1976, but overall, people seem to be pretty happy with it.

If things had worked out differently though, we could have seen a much harsher looking Star-Lord on the big screen.

As everyone impatiently awaits the release of the second installment of Guardians of the Galaxy, at least we can be treated to new theories, media, and anything else that comes our way. Most recently Marvel Studios concept artist Andy park revealed some awesome Guardians concept art that offers a very different take on Star Lord and a completely remade Nova Corps. Andy had this to say about Nova Corps in his Instagram post: This was an early design I concept illustrated for the Nova Corp in the 1st #GuardiansoftheGalaxy movie. It was an amazing time trying to come up with

The designs in Guardians of the Galaxy were great, but if you think back, you may recall that the first concept art released from the movie featured a very different take on the heroes. Thanks to Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park, we have a new look at a very design of Star-Lord and as you can see, he also offers an explanation behind his approach to this take on the "space pirate scavenger." Also below is a new take on the Nova Corps, and he pretty much confirms that everyone at Marvel viewed Guardians of the Galaxy as their Star Wars! We'll likely see more of this group when Thanos heads to Xandar to get his hands on the Infinity Stone being hidden there, but whether or not we'll ever see Richard Rider on the big screen remains to be seen! What do you think of these designs? Way...

Doctor Strange surprised us all by having Dormammu show up in the final act of the movie, and while many fans loved the villain's appearance, some were disappointed that he didn't bear much of a resemblance to his comic book counterpart. Well, Andy Park has taken to Instagram to show off an early alternate design, and as you can see, things could have played out much, much differently! Also below are some of Park's various takes on the Sorcerer Supreme himself, and while they're not too radically different to what we ended up seeing on the big screen, it's again interesting to wonder what might have been. They're perhaps not as faithful to the comic books as what we ended up getting in the movie, but are something of a modern update on the iconic character's classic appearance. While working at Marvel Studios there's been a few times we did...

Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park released a couple pieces of concept art he created for Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange. The art features the Sorcerer Supreme wearing a completely different type of costume, and I personally think they're pretty badass, especially the one above. It's an incredibly fun concept that would have been really cool to see brought to life in the film.
As you can see, they kind of have the same type of style as the other costumes that the Avengers wear in the films, but it still keeps that same Doctor Strange vibe that fans are familiar with in the comics.
As much as I love this costume, I do like the fact that they stayed completely true to the original comic design. Who knows, maybe we'll see Strange wear something like this in Avengers: Infinity War after he officially joins the team! What do you think of them?...

Marvel's Doctor Strange was a runaway hit this past November as it mystified its way to over $658.9 million at the worldwide box office, making it the seventh highest grossing Marvel Studios film ever. Certainly not a bad haul for one of the studio's riskiest outings yet. A sequel has yet-to-be announced, but it's likely not far off and we've already heard a few details from the writer on who he hopes to include in a potential second installment. Compared to some of his future Avengers teammates, Stephen Strange had one of the most elaborate (and interactive) costumes we've seen in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, and just like those other heroes, his outfit also underwent a number of different variations in the pre-production phase as evidenced by this concept art, which comes to us from Marvel Studios Visual Development Supervisor and conceptual artist Andy Park. Perhaps one of the most exciting things about the upcoming release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - aside from the movie itself - is the fact that we'll be able to get our hands on some Baby Groot merchandise. The maquette below probably won't be among that as it was made for the production itself (as concept artist Andy Park explains), but what Hot Toys delivers likely won't look too different. Throw in action figures, soft toys, Funko POPs and more, and Baby Groot is going to be a must have next May. He certainly stole the show in the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but will he still be a baby when the team of A-Holes meet Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War? We'll have to wait and see, but Marvel and Disney's licensing department is no doubt hoping he will be!

Artist Andy Park has continued to gift fans with concept art from Captain America: Civil War. This time, the artist has given us a look at a far more comic-accurate Baron Helmut Zemo, complete with his purple mask and sword. Park revealed the piece on his Twitter account, adding, "I painted this Baron Zemo for #CaptainAmericaCivilWar At the end of the day his traditional comic book look didn't make sense for the story." Zemo was played by Daniel Bruhl in the film, though he didn't don a costume of any kind. At the end of the film, the villain is alive and in custody, though he succeeded in his plan to fracture The Avengers. Time will tell if Zemo ever suits up in his traditional costume, though after seeing art like this, it's hard not to wish for it. ...

The cool Captain America: Civil War concept art continues to roll in with a new piece from Andy Park. It features Ant-Man fighting against Hawkeye. This is the second piece of concept art showing Ant-Man on the side of Team Iron Man fighting against Team Cap, because that was probably what would have happened if Spider-Man had not joined the McU. The first piece showed Ant-Man fighting Captain America. It's kind of fun and interesting seeing Ant-Man fighting on the other side. He belongs on Team Cap, though! ...

Andy Park has been releasing a lot of very cool concept art from Captain America: Civil War, and the latest features a new look at the battle between Iron Man and The Winter Soldier. Intent on killing Bucky after learning that we was responsible for the murder of Howard and Maria Stark, this piece features Tony delivering what he's clearly hoping will be a killing blow to Steve Rogers' best friend. The emotional battle between the three was a great way to wrap up the movie, and with The Winter Soldier expected to return in Avengers: Infinity War, it's going to be very interesting see how future interactions between him and Iron Man are handled. A rematch between the two is possible, but Earth's Mightiest Heroes will obviously have their hands full with the impending arrival of Thanos... Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park has shared yet another piece from Captain America: Civil War, and after seeing Giant-Man staring down Captain America, this time we get a look at Ant-Man fighting Hawkeye. As Park points out, this was created based on information from an earlier version of the screenplay, and it's now clear that Scott Lang was at one stage going to be 100% #TeamIronMan. What led to the change? If I had to hazard a guess, I'd bet that Ant-Man was going to be #TeamIronMan before Spider-Man joined the roster. Perhaps Tony Stark created this new costume for Scott, though how Hank Pym would have felt about that is hard to say! Whatever the answer, it's definitely interesting to look at what might have been, so here's hoping we get more pieces like this. These keyframes often are done pretty early on so scripts change/evolve. I enjoyed...

Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park recently released a wonderful new piece of concept art from Captain America: Civil War for you to enjoy featuring Giant-Man being taken down by Iron Man, War Machine, and Spider-Man. This was such a fun scene in the movie and I love this illustration that helped inspire it.

Considered to be the toughest, most intricate sequence in all of Captain America: Civil War, it’s little wonder why the grand airport battle tends to garner so much interest from fans. For the first time in Joe and Anthony Russo, the scene in question featured Team Iron Man and Team Cap in full-on battle mode, resulting in a cacophony of superhero action as some of our favorite costumed heroes locked horns on the tarmac.
Given the painstaking process that went in to creating what is arguably Civil War‘s greatest scene, the airport sequence has also become a rich resource for concept art, with artists sharing their early storyboards and keyframes that ultimately helped the Russo brothers and VFX team flesh out their vision.
The latest of which hails from conceptual artist Andy Park (via Cbm), and features Iron Man, War Machine and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man combining to knock down Giant-Man himself.
