Even amid rising interest rates, Hollywood’s real estate up-and-comers agree that business is good. Five emerging agents on the scene — Kati Cattaneo, Jacob Greene, Marco Salari, Kevin Stewart and Caroline Wolf — notice that although inventory may be lacking, demand for well-made homes in Los Angeles is unwavering.
“Los Angeles will always be one of the best and most desirable places to live in the world,” says Coldwell Banker’s Salari, 26. “Even with the interest rates and threat of recession, this market is strong with many buyers needing homes.”
This year, Salari closed on a deal for a Santa Monica property that got 22 offers, all over asking. His clients were the prevailing buyers, which Salari calls a “hard-fought win.” Salari, a former Italian basketball player, also struck deals with Favorite Daughter co-founder Erin Foster and actress-screenwriter couple Katey Sagal and Kurt Sutter. The trailer for The Head Hunter is impressive and a great example of what can be accomplished with a good idea and some impressive camera work.
Jordan Downey's new movie, which he co-wrote with frequent collaborator, cinematographer Kevin Stewart, stars Christopher Rygh as a medieval warrior looking to avenge his daughter's death by collecting the head of the man (or creature) responsible for taking her.
There's not much more to go on from the trailer which pretty much features Rygh wandering around the woods on the hunt for someone or something which may or may not be there but it's an atmospheric bit of work featuring some impressive camera work and drone shots which give the entire thing a feeling of being far more expensive than it probably is.

He's induced laughter and chills in previous projects like ThanksKilling, Critters: Bounty Hunter, and Red Weather, but in his latest short film, director Jordan Downey channels the nostalgia of Stranger Things and combines it with the coming-of-age poignancy of early Stephen King stories in Techno Western, which you can watch right now on Daily Dead.
In addition to Techno Western, which you can watch below, we also have a Q&A with Downey that offers more insights into the making of the short film.
"What was the genesis and inspiration for this project?
Jordan Downey: The idea, really, is drawn from my childhood. When I was a kid I would always take my squirt guns and spray paint them to look like some cannon or prop from Star Wars. I’d duct tape flashlights and pocket knives to the barrel and pretend to go “hunting” in the woods for bad guys.

The Krites first came to the big screen two years after Gremlins, but they didn’t need to be fed after midnight to become evil—they were malevolent little monsters from the get-go in 1986’s Critters and its three sequels. The ferocious furballs are set to make a comeback in an upcoming digital series from Warner Bros., but you can see the return of the Krites right now in a new short fan film, Critters: Bounty Hunter.
Created with a six-person crew and helmed by Jordan Downey, the director of ThanksKilling and ThanksKilling 3, Critters: Bounty Hunter is Downey’s bid for the director’s chair on the digital series, while also serving as an early holiday gift for Critters fans.

Creating a memorable, frightening horror-comedy that at the same time satirizes the amusing humor that famously characterize low-budget, vulgar films can be a difficult task for relatively new filmmakers. But director Jordan Downey and his writing and producing partner Kevin Stewart did just that with their new movie ‘ThanksKilling 3,’ the follow-up to their 2009 feature film debut, ‘ThanksKilling.’ The two worked closely together to continue the story of their infamous villain puppet character from their first film, Turkie, to not only please fans wondering what happened to the trouble-making villain, but to also continue targeting a holiday not previously ruined by horror with cheesy one-liners and jokes. ‘ThanksKilling 3′ [ Read More ]

This turkey isn’t just preying on a bunch of kids on thanksgiving though – there’s an offbeat, pretty creative plot at work that sees the titular turkey going into a killing spree after learning that copies worldwide of ThanksKilling 2 were obliterated because it was the worst movie ever – a winking nod for the events to follow, I’d wager.
Meanwhile, there’s also an intriguing plot following a cute puppet named Yomi as she enlists the help of humans and puppets alike to help her search for the missing piece of her mind – yeah, it’s odd but It is actually oddly charming I found.

Yes, the original ThanksKilling was far from something to write home about, but we cannot help but applaud the audacity it takes to make a second sequel that goes in search of the first sequel. Sound wacky? Wait until you've seen this clip!

Some people hated ThanksKilling, others (like me) thought it was fantastic piece of horror humor. Needless to say, I was thrilled when I heard there was going to be a sequel. And it's finally on its way.
ThanksKilling 3 (yep, they skipped past #2, but, in a rather clever way) centers once again around the fowl-mouthed villian 'Turkie' as he hacks his way to locate the last copu of "ThanksKilling 2". The rare film has found itself in the hands of a bunch of disturbed puppets.
Check out the poster below and watch for a trailer to be posted on MoreHorror sometime next week.

I was unaware that there was a Thankskilling 1, but there you go. This seems to be one of those films with tongue planted so firmly in cheek that it threatens to burst through the skin. And with that image in your head, check out the new poster for Thankskilling 3, one of the first fruits of a new generation of crowdfunded films. This exists thanks to a Kickstarter campaign, so the public is whom to blame/thank for the film.

In 2007, a couple of college kids shot campy B-movie called ThanksKilling when they should have been studying. They either graduated or were kicked out, and think that shooting a sequel might mean they can move out of mom's basement. Okay, I may have made that last part up, but they are shooting a sequel. Creators Kevin Stewart and Jordan Downey have started a Kickstarter project to raise the funds. While their goal budget is $100,000, the duo already have enough funds pledged to them to match their first masterpiece. Check out a thoroughly bizarre plea for money from the Killer Turkey while I find $50 to donate. I am fascinated and horrified at the notion of a gravy-flavored condom. The wackiest, zaniest, no-budget camp/cult “classic” in ThanksKilling is gearing up for a bigger and better sequel. The only catch is writer/director Jordan Downey needs the film’s fans help. Running on Kickstarter, Downey has a campaign going for the mysterious sequel, which is eying a Fall 2011 production start date.
ThanksKilling was shot for $3,500 in 2007 by 21 year old college roommates Kevin Stewart and Jordan Downey over 11 days during their summer break at Loyola Marymount University. It took another year to complete the film while the two finished school and prepped “Tk” for distributors. After unsuccessful attempts at acquiring a distribution deal, the two turned down what offers were on the table and chased after the unconventional method of self-distribution. They learned Photoshop and designed the posters, DVD jackets, and website from their apartment, then purchased a barcode and set up an account on Amazon. Finally, only months before the scheduled release,...

Nothing says Thanksgiving like a foul-mouthed, hitchhiking killer turkey. So when the new horror flick Thankskilling popped on my radar, I just had to see it. After I saw it, I just had to sit down one on one with the delirious minds behind this film, writer/director Jordan Downey and writer Kevin Stewart. I had to find out what makes them tick. Find out what would compel them to make such a film. Find out why they wanted to defile such a beloved holiday and most importantly, find out what their favorite turkey day side dish is. Be sure to stick around after the interview for a huge picture gallery and a clip from Thankskilling, you'll never look at a turkey the same way again. FEARnet - There aren't many Thanksgiving...

Director Jordan Downey sent along the DVDetails and other info on Thankskilling, a horror/comedy he also wrote and produced with Kevin Stewart. The duo are distributing the region-free disc themselves, with a street date of November 17, and sent along a few exclusive pics that you can see below.
The movie follows five genre-archetypal college kids—a jock, a good girl, a fat hick, a slut and a nerd—as their drive home for Thanksgiving break is interrupted when their car breaks down. They set up camp in the nearby woods, and around the fire, one relates the legend of a killer turkey spawned by a Native American curse. One of them encounters the bad bird but can’t convince the others of its existence, but once the group manages to make it home, they discover that the creature has followed them for a bloodthirsty rampage. The film stars Lance Predmore,...
