Warner Bros. has begun the process of securing the rights to the popular manga Bleach in order to bring it to the big screen. Director, Peter Segal (50 First Dates) is in negotiations to helm the movie alongside Viz Media, the publishers of the English-language editions of the series. Bleach has already been adapted as an anime in various languages, and five live musicals in Japan.
Tite Kubo’s best-selling Bleach has been published in weekly installments since 2001, and tells the story of Ichigo, a young man who can see ghosts and is forced to take on the role of shepherding them to the other side when a Soul Reaper he meets is injured in battle.
Warner Bros. is also currently working on a live-action adaptation of the legendary animated film Akira.

Radical Comics removed it's comic, Incarnate, from this week's pull lists, after a Tetsuo-sized avalanche of displeasure emanated from the internet and it's legion of Otaku. It seems penciler/writer/creator Nick Simmons (you might know his dad, Gene, from the Dr. Pepper commercials...) has paid a little bit to much homage to various Manga series. Covered extensively on Livejournal's 'Bleachness', and reported on by iCv2, the New York Times, as well as Geeks of Doom and numerous others around the web, Simmons' Incarnate has been under the microscope for a little under a week now. The series (only a 3 issue mini-series) shows uncanny similarities between it and the Manga series Bleach, as well as (to a lesser extent) Hellsing. Some fans even went as far as to note certain plot beats were appropriated from White Wolf's Vampire: The Masquerade. Everything from character design, to panel layouts, and even dialogue...

Nick Simmons has responded to the claims that he plagiarised popular manga in his Incarnate miniseries. The son of Kiss frontman Gene Simmons has been accused of copying plot elements, dialogue, panel layouts and character designs from series including Bleach, Hellsing, Vampire Hunter D and One Piece in his three-issue series for Radical. "Like most artists I am inspired by work I admire," said the 21-year-old in a statement. "There are certain similarities between some of my work and the work of others. "This was simply meant as an homage to artists I respect, and I definitely want to apologise to any manga fans (more)...

Radical Publishing has halted production of Nick Simmons's Incarnate amid claims of plagiarism. Simmons - the son of rock star Gene - has been accused of poaching ideas from Viz Media's Bleach and other manga properties. The allegations came to light following a thread on a GameFAQ forum, before appearing on various fan sites and Live Journal. A Facebook group has also been established, calling for legal action against Simmons. Radical has released the following statement: "We at Radical Publishing Inc. and Radical Comics Inc. are quite concerned to hear the news surrounding Nick Simmons's Incarnate comic book. We are taking this matter seriously and making efforts now to contact (more)...

Nick Simmons may have to defend more than his Family Jewels... The son of Gene Simmons, and creator of Radical Comics' Incarnate, is being accused of plagiarizing art from the popular manga Bleach (published in the U.S. by Viz) for his comic book, about an immortal creature who longs for death. More after the jump. Simmons has not yet issued an official public statement about the accusations. But Radical has told Bleeding Cool that production on Incarnate has ceased while the allegations are being investigated.

Incarnate – Issue #3 of 3 | Radical Publishing | Written and Art by Nick Simmons with art assists by Nam Kim and Ben Harvey
I think I was tricked, but honest to say, I’m glad I was. With the vampire craze getting a little low on blood fuel, just like the zombie phase well past its expiration date, an idea of immortals clashing just to feel an ounce of pain seems pretty damn refreshing these days. Incarnate has revealed its true purpose, discarding its vampire cover and adding some new blood to the action horror world: A bloody battle between gods and demons. And something tells me that when vampires, zombies, and werewolves are done, this will be the new fad in the comic book world.
Issue three of three didn’t trick anyone already reading this book into thinking this would be the end of it all. Hell no. I’m sure...

Nick Simmons has revealed details of his Radical Publishing comic series Incarnate. Simmons, the son of Kiss frontman Gene, worked as a writer and artist on the supernatural horror serial. The venture sees the creator follow in the footsteps of his father, who appeared in a Marvel Comic along with the rest of his band in 1977. "My dad is proud to point out that that's the bestselling Marvel comic of all time because it was a single issue and Kiss fans are collectors," Simmons told Sun Media. Chronicling the conflicts of an immortal race known as Revenants, Incarnate has been dubbed 'American Manga', as Simmons has illustrated the project based on the popular Japanese art style. (more)...

You ever know a guy that was a total punkass that didn’t deserve nothing cuz he hated anyone and anything, but still managed to get everything even though he didn’t want it... but kept it anyway? That’s a “mot” in my book. I’m gonna start calling those jerkface buttwipes using a name spelling “Tom” backwards, and named after a character created by Nick Simmons, son of Gene Simmons of Kiss. The sucky part? Simmon’s “Mot” character makes me the jerk because I actually really really really like the sumbitch!
