Barbie leads the feature competition of the annual Hpa Awards, whose nominations in features, TV, documentaries, commercials and restoration were announced Tuesday.
The postproduction community nominated Greta Gerwig’s hit film for outstanding color grading, editing and sound. Close behind with two nominations apiece in the feature categories are Oppenheimer (color grading and editing), Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (sound and visual effects), Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (color grading and editing), Tár (color grading and editing) and Avatar: The Way of Water, for which teams at Weta FX and Industrial Light & Magic were both nominated in the VFX category.

The winners will be announced during a Nov. 9 ceremony at the Hollywood Legion Theater. The complete list of nominees follows:

The key to telling an historical drama, no matter what the subject matter is, often centers on the entertainment factor. Even if the story is deadly serious, if your audience is not having a good time, your ship is sunk. That doesn’t mean a Holocaust movie or a film about slavery needs to be fun, but there needs to be captivating actor, a narrative you invest in, and an overall feeling that what you’re watching isn’t homework. Luckily, The Banker checks off all of these boxes. The first foray into prestige cinema by Apple TV+ is a charming, as well as important, success story. Delayed from 2019 into 2020, it’s likely no longer an Academy Award hopeful, but it’s still a story well executed and well worth seeing. The film is a drama, somewhat fictionalizing the true story of how two African American men secretly started a business empire in the 1960s.

Now that Columbus Short has announced that he’s stepping away from his role on Shonda Rimes' Scandal, rumors are circulating that Eric West could be the one tapped to fill his shoes.
Eric West Replacing Columbus Short?
An insider told Uinterview exclusively that Rimes and company have been quick to replace Short and have selected West for the job. “Note to all,” a memo allegedly read from a Shondaland employee to members of the show’s cast and crew. “Eric West will be replacing Columbus.”
It’s uncertain as to whether West will take over Short’s role of Harrison Wright or if he will be playing an entirely new character in Olivia Pope’s (Kerry Washington) team of gladiators. Currently, the Gladiators only include Pope, Huck, Quinn and Abby.
