“Out of an abundance of caution, we have temporarily halted production on The Offer due to the return of a positive coronavirus test result during routine testing,” a rep for series producer Paramount Television Studios said in a statement to Deadline about the production pause, which came Wednesday. “We will continue to follow all safety protocols and monitor the situation closely.”
The development comes amid a surge of the Delta Covid variant in Los Angeles. HBO’s Westworld and FX’s American Horror Story also recently paused production over positive Covid tests.

Jon Favreau has never hidden the fact that The Mandalorian was inspired by classic Westerns, and that influence was very clear in the season 2 premiere. A mysterious gunslinger rolled into a dusty backwater town looking to claim a bounty, only to find himself forging an uneasy alliance with the locals to overcome a shared threat that ultimately benefits the protagonist in the long run.
It was great for fans to get a chance to further explore the various locations, cultures and species of Tatooine, a planet that’s always been integral to the Star Wars mythology but has never really been explored. However, there’s one mystery from season 1 that unfolded on there that The Mandalorian didn’t pick up, which is most likely a deliberate move.

The modern era of Star Trek on TV has already served up a new version of Spock, with Ethan Peck taking over the iconic role for Discovery season 2 onward. The next logical step, then, is for a new iteration of James Tiberius Kirk to be introduced alongside him. William Shatner and Chris Pine have previously embodied the part on screen, but it’s looking like CBS thinks it’s about time that the Enterprise captain is rebooted once again.
Insider Daniel Richtman has revealed on his Patreon page that sources tell him there are plans for a third take on Kirk to appear on the small screen in the near future. Though his intel was unable to specify anything further at this time, it seems easy to conclude that this Kirk will debut in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the upcoming Discovery spinoff following the adventures of Peck’s Spock,...

The Disney Plus streaming service launched in November 2019 offering their pre-existing library of movies and TV shows as well as original programs, and the highest profile of those new shows was “The Mandalorian,” set in the “Star Wars” universe and following the title character, a principled bounty hunter who encounters a mysterious child popularly known as Baby Yoda, whose memes you’ve probably seen if you’ve been on the internet at all in the last eight months. Will this ambitious adventure make an impact at the Emmys? It has 36 entries on the Emmy ballots ranging from Best Drama Series to Best Stunt Coordination. Scroll down to see all of them.
The show’s impressive pedigree can be seen all over the Emmy ballot. Only three regular cast members have been submitted in acting categories, including lead actor Pedro Pascal, but guest-acting contenders include Emmy nominee Giancarlo Esposito and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Werner Herzog.

Star Trek: The Original Series is still beloved, but it’s aged poorly in certain ways – Captain Kirk’s constant womanizing being one of them. Even the Abrams reboot movies kept this element of the character, to some controversy. All the signs are pointing to us getting a new version of James Tiberius in the near future though in CBS All Access’ upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, so maybe a major change needs to be made to the iconic Enterprise captain in order to bring him firmly into the 21st century.
CBS might feel that way, too, as they’re apparently considering making a big change to the character. Trusted insider Daniel Richtman has revealed on Twitter that sources are telling him Kirk could end up being portrayed as bisexual in Snw. “Heard they are toying with the idea of making Kirk bi in the new series,” Richtman writes.

If there’s one thing you can say about Star Trek, it’s that there’s always the opportunity for former icons of the franchise to return at any point. Just take Picard, for example, which brought back Sir Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc after 20 years, alongside various other players from The Next Generation – plus, Voyager. Of course, the much-missed Leonard Nimoy also appeared in the rebooted movies before his death.
But what about the Enterprise’s original captain, William Shatner? The Canadian star hasn’t played James T. Kirk in nearly 30 years, ever since the Starfleet legend was killed off back in 1994’s Star Trek: Generations, but Picard proves even he could make a surprise comeback. When asked about it most recently, Shatner revealed to Metro UK that he would “love” to do it, though he does have a few stipulations it would have to abide by.

CBS is in the midst of expanding the Star Trek franchise on TV more than ever before. The latest project to be announced is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a Discovery spinoff following Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the Enterprise in the years before Kirk took command. All the signs are pointing to CBS developing a new Star Trek series for Captain Christopher Pike. Anson Mount’s portrayal of the classic character on Discovery season 2 was a hit with fans, who campaigned for him to get his own show. It’s yet to be officially announced, but multiple outlets are reporting that it’s in the works and is already at the casting stage.
We Got This Covered was the first to break the story several months ago, also confirming that Mount would be joined in the spinoff by Ethan Peck’s Spock and Rebecca Romijn’s Number One, who were likewise introduced in Dis season 2. The recasts of familiar faces won’t stop with those three, though, as a new James Tiberius Kirk is on the way, too. As we learned yesterday, Jake Cannavale is in the running to play the iconic future captain of the Enterprise in his younger days.

There’ve been many actors to play Christopher Pike across Star Trek‘s long, long history, since Kirk’s predecessor as captain of the Enterprise first appeared in The Original Series’ pilot back in 1966. Anson Mount might just be the most beloved, though, as his take on the heroic, tragic Starfleet icon went down very well with viewers when he showed up in Star Trek: Discovery season 2. With season 3 set to take the series into the far future, we imagine we won’t be seeing much more of him on the show, but it’s looking like Mount isn’t done with the role just yet.

At the end of the fifth episode of season 1 of “The Mandalorian” on Disney Plus, the show gave us a mystery to ponder by introducing a new character but not showing us who it was. The logical thinking, based on the evidence we’ll discuss below, is that this is a character we already know from elsewhere in the “Star Wars” universe. Was this new character just a fun Easter egg or will they actually be a part of this story? Well, season 1 never followed up on it! Temuera Morrison is returning to a Galaxy Far, Far Away. The “Attack of the Clones” actor will play fan favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett in the second season of the “Star Wars” Disney+ show “The Mandalorian,” an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.
Introduced in an animated short during the “Star Wars Holiday Special” before his live action debut in 1980’s “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back,” Boba Fett was the feared bounty hunter who captures Han Solo and brings him to powerful gangster Jabba the Hutt. He returns in 1983’s “Return of the Jedi” where he appears to be killed during the battle to rescue Solo after being knocked into the mouth of a ravenous monster called the Sarlaac.

As you may have noticed, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is now in theaters, and the conclusion to the nine-movie saga that started way back in 1977 is turning out to be more controversial than many people no doubt expected. While it isn’t quite on a level with the vitriol that greeted The Last Jedi, fans and critics aren’t exactly showering J.J. Abrams’ return to the franchise with universal praise, either.
The movie’s reviews have been tepid to say the least, which may have contributed to a domestic opening weekend that came in at the lower end of projections at $175.5 million. Abrams said months ago that he was fully aware that The Rise of Skywalker wasn’t going to please everyone, and the filmmaker continues to take the diplomatic route when asked about his response to negative reviews.

The fifth episode of “The Mandalorian” takes place on Tatooine. There are Tusken Raiders and pit droids. Someone makes a reference to having the high ground. There’s a roughish guy who confidently kicks his feet up on a table at the Mos Eisley Cantina, just like Harrison Ford did back in “A New Hope” in 1977.
The Disney+ show has yet to do much to appeal to those who aren’t already onboard the “Star Wars” hype train. Although the franchise’s fanbase is large enough to make that a moot point, even devout “Star Wars” fans might find themselves periodically checking the clock during the slog that is “Chapter 5: The Gunslinger.” Critiquing “The Mandalorian” for not pushing the franchise in a new direction is an exercise in futility at this point, but the series’ latest installment lacks many of the basic elements one would expect from any decent show.

Is The Mandalorian possibly suffering a middle-of-first-season slump?
While The Mandalorian Season 1 Episode 5 is still cooler than much of what is on TV right now and made excellent use of its guests -- as well as some favorite Star Wars Universe planets, creatures, and droids -- it felt kind of filler-ish.
And considering the Jedi baby is currently more popular in social media than any of the 2020 Democratic primary candidates, the episode sure did not spend much airtime on him.
But that's Ok, as many of us would rather The Mandalorian not be a cutesy kids' show over a glorious hormone-pumping Star Wars adventure.
So what's wrong with it, then? Well, the plot of "The Gunslinger" is just meh, and shows the series might need more than just random exploits on rad planets to stay as cool as it ought to be.
Yes, we hold The Mandalorian to a higher standard,...

The fifth episode of The Mandalorian, titled "The Gunslinger," might be the show's most referential yet, as Mando and the Child land in a very familiar location from the film saga. Along the way, he encounters plenty of other Star Wars references and easter eggs that eagle-eyed fans will surely catch as they watch the episode. Here are the easter eggs we've found so far:
Tatooine
- After visiting desert planets throughout the show, the Mando has finally arrived to where it all began: Tatooine. “The Gunslinger” references A New Hope extensively. It’s hard to imagine why the episode needed to be on Tatooine other than the thrill of recognition: here are the Tusken Raiders, here is...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read on if you have not watched the first five episodes of Disney Plus’ “Star Wars” spinoff series “The Mandalorian.”
Episode 5 of “The Mandalorian” was a real blast from the past.
Mando and Baby Yo landed on the planet of Tatooine, where so many iconic moments from the “Star Wars” franchise have taken place. But this time around, the desert town of Mos Eisley, known of course for its famous cantina, seemed mostly, well, deserted. From the Stormtrooper heads on spikes, it’s clear the Empire has been ousted from the planet, but so has the bounty hunter’s guild apparently, which is good and bad for Mando. Good because he’s running from the guild, bad because he also happens to be looking for a job to gather enough money to repair his ship after a nasty dogfight left it the worse for wear at the beginning of the episode.

A review of this week’s The Mandalorian, “The Gunslinger,” coming up just as soon as I play cards with my droids…
“The Gunslinger” takes place around and then on the most famous planet in Star Wars lore, Tatooine, and includes familiar landmarks like the Mos Eisley Spaceport (which is festooned with blood-soaked Stormtrooper helmets — if not severed heads?) and the Dune Sea, where Mando and his latest sidekick, Toro, inevitably run into some Tusken Raiders. At the start of their short-lived friendship, Mando and Toro meet at a seedy...

Star Wars: The Mandalorian Episode 5
Throughout The Mandalorian, I’ve been wrestling with the idea of what a Star Wars TV show should do. The show is well-made, competent in its storytelling—the dialogue energetic, the side characters entertaining. It also, particularly in episode 5, seems to veer away from deeper interpretation. In Star Wars tie-in fashion, this is an adventure story and no more. Ming-Na Wen arrives as a masked bounty hunter who, like Pedro Pascal, does some of her best work through her body language, but director and writer Dave Filoni doesn’t have the ability the show’s other directors do to draw emotion out of a scene, to linger. Instead, "The Gunslinger" is a twisty, turning...

The Mandalorian episode "The Gunslinger" ends with a tiny hint of things to come for the live-action Star Wars show. Let's discuss.
The Star Wars article contains spoilers for The Mandalorian.
The Mandalorian episode 5, titled "The Gunslinger," is a thrill ride from start to finish. Like last week's "Sanctuary," this episode takes a more standalone, slice-of-life approach to the storytelling, with only hints of the larger arc at work. Early on, Mando has to make an emergency landing on Tatooine after the Razor Crest is attacked by a bounty hunter in space. To pay for repairs on his ship, Mando agrees to help newbie bounty hunter Toro Calican (Jake Cannavale) capture an assassin named Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen). A few twists and double crosses later, Mando has finished the job and is zipping away from Mos Eisley in search of a new hideout for him and The...

Exclusive: The 2019 Screamfest Horror Film Festival has taken a bite out of Eat, Brains, Love, setting the Rodman Flender-directed zombie romantic comedy as its opening-night film. The annual genre fest will run October 8-17 at the Tcl Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood.
Eat, Brains, Love, which world premiered last month at the UK’s Frighfest, is about Jake (Jake Cannavale) and his dream girl Amanda (Angelique Rivera). The good news is she finally knows his name — but the bad news is both contracted a mysterious sexually transmitted zombie virus and devoured the brains of half their senior class. A teen psychic (Sarah Yarkin) sent by the government’s top-secret Necrotic Control Division is sent to track them down. Patrick Fabian also stars.
Mike Herro and David Strauss wrote the script based on the novel by Jeff Hart. The pic is produced by Tommy Coriale, Tony Disanto, Brian Hoff, Van Toffler and Cody Weig.

Back in 1999 I fell in love with the teen horror comedy Idle Hands, with its mix of gore, laughs and a teen cast that felt totally beliveable and altogether likeable. Now, some ten years later, that films director returns with Eat Brains Love, based on the young adult novel of the same name by Jeff Hart, which once again captures that exact blend of horror and comedy to perfection.
High schooler Jake Stephens longs for the unreachable Amanda Blake (Angelique Rivera), who’s dating Chazz (Ty Headlee) the head jock. So how can Jake woo Amanda away from Chazz who, in typical high-school movie fashion, is the schools resident meat-head bully. Well how about he and Amanda get infected by a sexually transmitted zombie virus,...
