Stijn Deconinck (1981) is a Belgian editor, screenwriter and director.
His editing credits include Into The Night, the first Belgian Netflix Original series and the acclaimed documentaries The Land of the Enlightened (Sundance), When Arabs Danced (TIFF) and Immortal (Karlovy Vary). The latter was eligible for the Oscar for Best Documentary in 2020.
In I Am not a Hero, a documentary filmed in a Brussels hospital during the peak of the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, he worked as a screenwriter and co-director as well as an editor. The film was premiered at the 39th Vancouver International Film Festival.
Deconinck started his career at production company Woestijnvis. Five years later he joined editors collective Montagewinkel. In 2017 he was invited into the European Film Academy.
He runs a boutique post facility in Ghent in collaboration with fellow editor Koen Timmerman.
