For a significant portion of its running time, the new film from the directing team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (better known as Radio Silence) plays like a hard-boiled crime drama. In its opening scenes, we see a rag-tag team of criminals prepare for and then commit the kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl. First seen dancing ballet by herself in an empty theater, she obviously comes from wealth, getting into a chauffeured limousine after her exertions. The kidnappers, who’ve dubbed her “Tiny Dancer,” manage to snatch her away and bring her to a secluded mansion, where they’re greeted by their mysterious organizer (Giancarlo Esposito), who gives them fake names inspired by the members of the Rat Pack (Frank, Joey, Dean, etc.). So far, so Quentin Tarantino.
That the mansion seems to come from a ‘30s-era Universal horror film, complete with suits of armor and numerous examples of frightening taxidermy,...

On this episode of Nashville, "A Little Bit Stronger," Rayna is reunited with an old flame, Zach has big plans for Will, Juliette gets in touch with her spiritual side and Maddie tries to understand Clay's emotional and mental issues.
Now that Rayna's stalker, Carl Hockney (Linds Edwards) has showed up and tried to make contact, she's taking some precautions. She and Deacon are fortifying the house, just in case this particular lunatic doesn't turn out to be as harmless as the man installing the system, Dave Winters, believes the guy to be. Rayna's gotten a restraining order, but if that doesn't keep the countrified cray-cray at bay, Winters and his ex Special Ops pals have Rayna's back.

Following a tragic and traumatic miscarriage, Peggy (Ashley Selton) begins to ruminate on the things that matter most. She moves out of her marital home, leaves her career as a successful realtor and trades in her car for a smaller, more economical model. After receiving a condolence letter from Tim (Linds Edwards), a high school crush who — as revealed by a mutual friend – has since remade himself as a monk, she becomes preoccupied with her own spiritual beliefs. Inspired, she gives away many of her belongings and travels out to Kentucky to visit the abbey where he is believed to reside. Eventually, however, she must return home to Tennessee, to address her problems and come to some sort of arrangement with her estranged husband, Mark (Bryce Johnson).

Paul Harrill’s Something, Anything, which co-premiered recently at the Wisconsin Film Festival and the Sarasota Film Festival, is a portrait of a young woman in crisis. Peggy [Ashley Shelton] has already achieved her “stereotypically Southern” (as she’s described in the press kit) ambitions: a successful career in realty, a husband, a house in the suburbs, and a baby on the way. In the opening moments of the film, however, she’s forced to confront her dissatisfaction with it all. A family tragedy sends Peggy on a sojourn that leads her to the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky and, eventually, to a simpler life in a small apartment overlooking the Tennessee River.
Harrill first gained recognition in 2001 when his short film, Gina, An Actress, Age 29, won the top prize at Sundance and enjoyed an impressive run of screenings at international festivals. Starring Amy Hubbard and Frankie Faison (Burrell from The Wire...

If you thought the pilot episode of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” was the bees knees, you haven’t seen anything yet. Here are two promo videos — one with scenes from the upcoming season’s remaining five episodes, and a minute-long preview clip from next week’s episode, titled “Guts”. Looks like ol Rick went and done something bad, cause Laurie Holden looks pretty pissed off in the clip. Note to self: zombies can use objects in “The Walking Dead”. Starring Emma Bell, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey DeMunn, Linds Edwards, Laurie Holden, Andrew Lincoln, Adrian Kali Turner, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Steven Yeun. “The Walking Dead” episode 1.02, “Guts” premieres next week on November 7, 2010 on AMC. function getVideo() { var so = new SWFObject("http://cdn.springboard.gorillanation.com/storage/xplayer/yo033.swf", "mplayer", "590", "375", "8", "#000000"); so.addParam("wmode","transparent"); so.addParam("swliveconnect", "true"); so.addParam("allowscriptaccess", "always"); so.addParam("allowfullscreen", "true"); so.addVariable("pid", "byhw013"); so.

Someone pinch me. I still can’t believe that a network, but particularly a quality network like AMC, is doing an honest to goodness TV series about a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. I mean, Wtf? How did I get so lucky? And it’s not like this is a shitty, cheap production, either. If you’ve seen any of the trailers (or even just took a gander at this sizzle reel below), then you know a lot of money went into this thing. Plus, they got Frank friggin Darabont to run the whole shebang. And we know Frank Darabont doesn’t do shitty movies on the cheap. So enjoy this awesome, nearly 5-minutes long sizzle real for AMC’s “The Walking Dead”, set to stalk your TV this October on Halloween night. Director Frank Darabont and actor Thomas Jane have a long history together. One that Jane wants to continue while inhabiting a wasteland filled with shambling flesh-eaters. Ah yes, dear reader! It's time for more chatter concerning our most looked forward to TV show, "The Walking Dead."
In a recent interview with NBC Washington, Jane dropped the following on fans ...
"That show is going to be a a big fucking hit," he told them at the HBO post-Emmy party. "I've seen it and is fan-fucking-tactic." He continues, "I'm going to come on and do a guest thing ... Maybe play a bad guy." Jane says he'll insist on being human in the guest role, however. He'll slay the undead, but he won't play one. "I'm not going to be a zombie," he says. "That's too much makeup."
