Ten years ago, the writing and directing duo of Jen and Sylvia Soska (a.k.a. the Twisted Twins) teamed up with Katharine Isabelle of Ginger Snaps and Freddy vs. Jason to make the body horror film American Mary (pick up a copy Here). To mark the film’s tenth anniversary, the Soskas have created “a variety of American Mary Ten Year Anniversary items for your collection and to celebrate a decade of modification”, which are available for purchase through their Etsy store. But that’s not the only way they’re celebrating. Speaking to a fan on Twitter, the Soskas revealed they are currently developing an American Mary TV series!
The Soskas said, “We are actually adapting American Mary into a tv series. I think you’ll dig the story that picks up where the film left off. Have always wanted to expand Mary’s world for a few...

I’ll admit I have a soft spot for the scarecrow film. Ever since I was terrified by a TV screening of Dark Night of the Scarecrow back in the 80s, I’ve seen just about every scarecrow-related film going – even those that should probably have never seen the light of day! So of course I Had to see Scarecrow. Even moreso given that it’s (yet another) Canadian genre film and it stars Robin Dunne, an actor whose career I’ve followed ever since I saw him in Cruel Intentions 2 (yes, I liked that film – even more than the original).
The film sees school teacher Aaron Harris (Dunne) doling out punishment to six students serving detention,...

Jen and Sylvia Soska should be on the radar of most fans of the horror genre and it’s progression as a genre with something unique and interesting to offer the current earth or cinema. Their previous, and debut, flick was Dead Hooker in a Trunk, which was written and directed by the spooksome twosome, who also appeared in main roles in the flick. It wasn’t anything special as far as I’m concerned but it has a cult following and it did show the capabilities of these two genuinely interesting filmmakers as well as offering a glimpse at what they could do in a shoestring budget and no-name talent.

We already shared the first trailer, poster(s) and clip from the upcoming American Mary movie. And you liked it, right? Ok then, today we have the first TV spot for the female-centric surgical horror-thriller which comes from Jen and Sylvia Soska, and we definitely recommend you to check it out, ’cause, well… appearances are everything, and this Mary is stylish, artful and darkly funny!
So, as we previously reported, the movie is both written and directed by the Soska Sisters, and centers on a medical student named Mary Mason, played by Katharine Isabelle, as she becomes increasingly broke and disenchanted.
The rest of the story goes like this:
…the allure of easy money sends Mary into the twilight world of body modification and underground surgeries where obsessed flesh artists will pay anything and go through any pain to get their unusual procedures done. But Mary soon finds that her...

The Soska sisters, Jen and Sylvia (or the Twisted Twins as they liked to be called) made a splash in the horror genre with their 2009 debut feature Dead Hooker in a Trunk, a film which gained them an army of fans – including Eli Roth – eager for their next feature. Well they didn’t have to wait too long as the duo are back with American Mary, their hotly-anticipated follow-up fear flick starring Canadian horror icon Katherine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps), which tells the story of wannabe surgeon Mary Mason.
American Mary is an intensely interesting film, part Frankenstein tale, part rock ‘n’ roll horror flick and at the same time a wonderful feminist statement on the horror genre, the movie plays to many people on many levels. The film follows med student Mary who,...

The Soska sisters, Jen and Sylvia (Dead Hooker in a Trunk), are preparing their second feature. Their newest horror film, American Mary, deals with underground surgeries. And, Mary is not someone you would likely hire for a quick nip and tuck. The first trailer shows a few surgeries gone wrong. Apparently, Mary (Katharine Isabelle) has dropped out of medical school. She now experiments on a steady stream of clientele. Her results are disturbingly lackluster. Late in the clip, Dr. Josef Mengele is mentioned. If you missed the joke, that is because Mengele has been dead for thirty years now. Previously, he was a Nazi doctor who performed pseudo-science on twins and other concentration camp prisoners. Enjoy the dark humour below. Directors: Jen Soska, and Sylvia Soska. Writers: Jen Soska and Sylvia Soska. Cast: Katharine Isabelle, Julia Maxwell, Antonio Cupo, Connor Stanhope, Paul Anthony, Paula Lindberg and John Emmet Tracy. The...

Eve (Julia Maxwell) touches a man from the bar and when she goes in, one notices the blood on her dress. She kisses him giving him a gift and infects everyone. A rabid fight breaks out as they all attack each other and she watches. Dean (Jensen Ackles) prepares bullets containing ash: enough for 5 shells. Bobby (Jim Beaver) comments the lore states ash should work and it doesn't do anything to Dean... trust him to try it, well he's human so it wouldn't affect him. Dean tells Cas (Misha Collins) to "get out of my ass." Cas: "I was never in your..." Eve is hidden from angels. Sam (Jared Padalecki) believes a vampire could help. Cas brings Lenore (Amber Benson) to them. Last seen in season 2, she was just brought in to be finished off like a loose end. Sam tells her he lopped off Gordon's head when he became a vampire himself.

A man at a petrol station gives a woman a ride, who turns out to be the mother of all. Eve kisses him and he gives her a sermon on how Jesus loves them. The apocalypse came and went and he didn't even notice. A mother wouldn't abandon a child and she's a mother. She whispers in his ear and Rick (Brent Stait) goes home where he kills his wife (Kimberly Unger). Bobby (Jim Beaver) tells the others how hunters are finding vampires, ghouls, werewolves, on the I-80. Dean (Jensen Ackles) refers to it as the monster march. They speak to Rick in jail and Bobby tags along too, all having to don suits. Sam (Jared Padalecki) views footage and they see Eve (Julia Maxwell). Dean: "freakish nightmare what the hell was that?" Dean refers to Eve as Big Momma. Bobby thinks they're over their heads. Another man goes mad at the cannery.

Is the project dead? Read more after the jump. ...
"No not at all," said Syfy original programming president Mark Stern. "We're trying to figure out the economics right now. I love it but we're trying to put various things together to see how we're going to get it made. My hope is we get it figured out." (...)
Stern said the pilot was a good test to prove the technology could be used in series, although he acknowledged it will likely take a year to get the show on air after it's ordered due to the amount of post-production work that will be required on every episode.

The Toronto International Film Festival media blurb for Simon Davidson’s debut feature, The Odds, likens it to a combination of Rounders and Brick. While this statement is true to a point, the comparisons remain solely on the surface. Poker plays a very small role—as gambling in general looms large—and while the plot concerns teenagers who are way over their heads in adult matters and murder, the hyper-reality of Rian Johnson’s contemporary classic is nowhere to be seen. Such broad generalizations end up doing the film a disservice by trying to pigeonhole it into a set of parameters the target audience will be familiar with. Unfortunately, The Odds can’t live up to those lofty expectations, but that doesn’t mean Davidson hasn’t crafted an entertaining thriller worth a look. Just like its lead character Desson Orr, though, it deserves a chance to stand on its own two feet.

Females haven't fared so well on "Supernatural" since the very beginning, when Sam and Dean's mother met her untimely demise thanks to the yellow-eyed demon, but none has been more beloved than Mary Winchester, who makes a reappearance (sort of) in this week's Episode 19, entitled "Mommy Dearest". Check out the preview and clip below the gallery to give you a taste of what The CW has in store for the fans.

In Friday's episode of "Supernatural," the Winchester Brothers will finally come face to face with Eve, the Mother of All. Though she's usually played by guest star Julia Maxwell, the villain will take on a different face this time -- she'll look like Mary (Samantha Smith), the boys' long-dead mother.
"It's not really Mary, and Sam and Dean know that. [She thinks] she'll be easier for the boys to talk to this way," executive producer Bob Singer tells Zap2it. "She thinks they can be persuaded because he is her mother."
Luckily, Sam and Dean have had their mother's image used against them before -- Zachariah fully creeped us out when he told them he'd been hooking up with her in Heaven in Season 5.
Eve's motivations remain a bit of a mystery as the season draws to a close. "She's here for a reason. Her kingdom is being messed with. If Crowley's running hell,...

Only five episodes remain of "Supernatural" Season Six, and The CW is pumping out the goods as fast as we can post them. On tap for this evening is a big batch of stills from the upcoming Episode 19, "Mommy Dearest", in which (as the title suggests) the Winchester boys reunite with their mother. Something tells us it's not a happy occasion.

Samantha Smith is back as Mary Winchester on Supernatural. Of all the characters on Supernatural, you have to admit that Mary is one of the strongest if not most key characters on the show. Who can ever forget that scene in the series premiere when Azazel (Fredric Lehne), The Yellow-Eyed Demon, visited the Winchester brothers as children.
Needless to say, the return of Mary does not bode well for Sam (Jared Padalecki) or Dean (Jensen Ackles). Here is a new group of stills provided by CW Network. It looks like we’ll see the entire quartet of Supernatural hunters convene for this family reunion.

Poor Sam and Dean Winchester. Even when something seemingly good happens to them, it's tinged with tragedy. Case in point - Episode 19, "Mommy Dearest", in which their beloved mother Mary returns ... as a demon.

There are only a few more episodes left in Supernatural Season 6. After that, the only way to get your Winchester brother fix will be at San Diego Comic Con, where Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are sure to be in attendance, as well as Misha Collins. We talked with Collins last year at Sdcc and we’re hoping we’ll be able to catch up with him again in July.
Check out the synopsis below to see what you can expect from Supernatural Episode 6.19, “Mommy Dearest.” Guess who is coming back into the Winchester Brothers lives?!

"Supernatural" fans, we hope you enjoyed the comedic meta episode, "The French Mistake," because there won't be too many laughs for Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) from now until the finale. Last week's episode, "...And Then There Were None" set the tone for the rest of the season. Things are about to get angsty.
When the show returns from its spring hiatus on April 15, some familiar faces are coming back from the dead, and as any demon hunter knows, that's rarely a good sign. Samantha Smith returns as Mary Winchester, Sam and Dean's long-dead mother. The last time we saw her, she was a scary shadow of herself in heaven.
Now, her return is especially troublesome, especially since Sam just shot her father. "What would Mom say?" Sam asked his brother in the last episode. Perhaps we're about to find out. Dean doesn't look too thrilled to see...

Since summer is already at our doorsteps, Hollywood has other movies in store for the summer. In fact, a summer release is expected for the teen-romance drama Charlie St. Cloud.
According to IMDb.com, the story can be described like this:Charlie St. Cloud (Zac Efron) is a young man overcome by grief at the death of his younger brother (Charlie Tahan), Sam. So much so that he takes a job as caretaker of the cemetery in which his brother is buried. Charlie has a special lasting bond with his brother though, as he can see him. Charlie meets up with his brother each night to play catch and talk. Then, a girl (Amanda Crew), who is a sailor, comes into Charlie's life and he must choose between keeping a promise he made to Sam, or going after the girl he loves. The film also stars Kim Basinger, Chris Massoglia,...
