Matthew Neff was born on March 19, 1985.
He grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Council
Rock High School in 2003. He holds a B.F.A. in Dance from
Marymount Manhattan College and has experience that varies from theater
to concert dance. Matthew's His performances in musical tours include:
George M! (Archie/Dance Captain), Susan Stroman's The Music Man (Linus
Dunlop), and Trevor Nunn's Oklahoma! (Jesse Chalmers/Dance Captain).and
many regional theater productions. You can find him in punk pop star,
Avril Lavigne's music video He Wasn't and in the independent film Clear
Blue Tuesday, directed by Elizabeth Lucas with choreography by Chase
Brock. In the world of concert dance, Matthew Neff has had the
opportunity to perform works by Charlotte Griffin, Jose Limón, Mark
Morris, and Chet Walker. He also had the opportunity to be a part of
Anna Sokolow's Memorial at the Joyce Theater, where he performed in her
signature piece Rooms. Matthew's Neff's career as a choreographer also
proves him to be well versed. His work has also been performed in
various showcases and competitions including the prestigious finals for
the Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP) in New York City. The original
punk rock musical, Puck'd: What Fools These Mortals Be, directed by
Shawn Rozsa, utilized his ability to combine multiple genres of dance
as well as circus techniques to tell a new take on Shakespeare's
Midsummer Nights Dream. He also choreographed the Telluride Aids
Benefit in Telluride, CO sponsored by MAC Cosmetics. There, Matthew was
brought on to work with professional models and everyday people, to
showcase designs from major fashion designers. Matthew Neff has also
choreographed at Summer Lyric Theater in New Orleans that have
displayed both his classic and modern interpretations of musical
theater choreography. He recently choreographed all the musical numbers
for a documentary about opera that will air in 2009 on PBS.
