Netflix's teen drama Trinkets didn't take long to steal our hearts, and by the time we were done watching the first season, we only had one question on our minds: would it return for season two?
Fortunately, the streaming giant confirmed the exciting news on Monday with a video announcement that reveals the series will be back with a few changes in the works. While the core cast is still in place - Brianna Hildebrand, Kiana Madeira, and Quintessa Swindell - Charmed's Sarah Goldfinger is on board as the new showrunner.
Netflix, known for cranking out exceptional original content, released the show, which follows a trio of teen girls who go through the usual struggles of being, well, teen girls. However, there's an unexpected twist: they're all serial shoplifters who meet in a support group for kleptomania and instead start teaming up to continue stealing. The first season,...

Chicago – “Step Up 3” is not a film so much as a slickly photographed collage of superbly performed dance sequences. Its structure harkens back to the golden age of screen musicals where the plot merely functioned as an intermission between numbers. There’s no need to visit the previous “Step Up” installments before stepping into this one, since their plots are more or less identical.
“SU3” merely aspires to entertain by utilizing the human body as its central special effect. The result is an irresistible burst of spirit-lifting escapism that sends the audience out on a wave of good feeling. Though the film’s acclaimed 3D visuals are available on a separate Blu-Ray edition, the stellar HD picture quality on the 2D version is second to none, while Ken Seng’s cinematography places the performers front and center, providing viewers with what feels like the best seat in the house.

I've seen all of the contemporaneity urban dances movies (in fact, I reviewed them all in one fell swoop), and anyone who has ever seen them must understand that it's easy to find a modicum of guilty pleasure in them. It's hard not to marvel at the talent on display in the electric, dazzling dance sequences. Fancy editing or no, it's impressive how these people move and contort and throw their bodies around, and it's difficult not to get swept up in the kinetic energy.
But there's also the flip side to this genre: Terrible, predictable, increasingly inane plots. They've mined all the Karate Kid underdog inspiration out of them, and they've more than thoroughly explored the fish out of the dance floor story lines: There's the poor white kid, the rich white ballet dancer, the black guy trying to make it out of the ghetto, etc. etc. ad infinitum,...

Step Up 3D Directed by: Jon Chu Written by: Amy Andelson & Emily Meyer (screenplay), Duane Adler (characters) Starring: Rick Malambri, Adam G. Sevani, Sharni Vinson I’m still not certain the Step Up films take place in the real world. Dance is so important to the characters that inhabit this plane of reality that I barely recognize it. Is every move a metaphor? “Battling” surely seems a surrogate for a fistfight, while love is manifested with more delicate gymnastics. Context regardless, the seriousness with which they approach their art is unshakable. Conversely, as someone who finds their rhythmic jiving inherently silly — yes, I saw Step Up 3D ironically. My recommendation, however, is anything but. I honestly can’t imagine it disappointing anyone. If you’re a fan (in any capacity) of the previous two films, well, you’re in for a treat. Part three was shot in 3D (as opposed...

The players: Director: Jon Chu, Writers:Amy Andelson, Emily Meyer, Cast: Rick Malambri, Adam G. Sevani, Sharni Vinson, Alyson Stoner
Facts of interest: Chu also helmed "Step Up 2: The Streets."
The plot: A bunch of dancers gear up to beat their rivals at a huge dance competition.
Our thoughts: Let’s face it: nobody really needed another “Step Up” movie. The first one did its job and became popular, and the sequel sucked and quickly started to feel too monotonous. Then the whole 3D thing came along, and someone out there thought it would be awesome to have some talented dancers/bad actors spin some cool moves straight into our faces. Thus, Jon Chu’s “Step Up 3D” was born.

Photo: Touchstone PIctures Step Up 2 the Streets was a dramatic improvement over the dull and lifeless 2006 original. Yet it still feels weird to fully realize how silly this whole franchise is and to still expect Step Up 3D to be better than it actually is. It's not as if Step Up 2 was changing the dramatic face of movies, but it was certainly fun. It had some good music and great dance sequences. Most of all, it had a story (albeit a thin one) that stayed together and didn't bounce around from character to character without any idea where to stop. The same can't be said for the follow-up.
Step Up 3D is a mess of a movie. It's one giant montage with a made up story simply to get you from set piece to set piece. Yet, I had a good time watching it,...

Director: John Chu Writer(s): Amy Andelson, Emily Meyer Starring: Rick Malambri, Adam G. Sevani, Sharni Vinson, Alyson Stoner, Keith Stallworth, Kendra Andrews, Stephen Boss, Martin, Lombard, Facundo Lombard Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could settle all of life’s trying issues with a really hot, glittery, dance war? I can picture it now: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Shimon Peres breaking amid throngs of cheering fans dressed in clothes oddly reminiscent of the 80s. There can only be one winner, and there will be much turmoil and joy throughout! That’s basically how things roll in the freakishly annoying world of Step Up 3D. Meet Moose (Adam Sevani), a college student in New York City who suddenly becomes sidetracked in Central Park when he witnesses a dance off and becomes an unlikely contestant. Luke (Rick Malambri), a smokin’, stud-like fellow sees him and his moves and invites him to live at The Vault,...

.Step Up 3D. is the third installment of the popular franchise. This time, the hip-hop fairy tale is back with an intriguing gimmick making the movie the first dance drama ever to be shot and released in digital 3D.
As expected, the filmmakers stepped up the film.s look and dance numbers. Those are two great qualities to make any .Step Up. fan curious about the third movie even though the story and the script are relegated backstage.
If Jennifer Beals. .Flashdance. character, Alex Owens, was just beginning her dance career today, she would have a hard time competing with the .Step Up. kids. Nowadays, the popping and locking dance routines are meant for dancers with strong stamina and equally powerful equilibrium.
According to the first two .Step Up. movies, dancing makes the people come together. The dancing gods do not care if you.re rich or poor. The third...

HollywoodNews.com: Step Up 3-D has exactly as much plot as it needs, given that it’s really the best-choreographed music video that Hype Williams never made. Filmmaker Jon Chu, who previously made Step Up 2: The Streets and is currently helming one of the most underrated web series on the internet, The Lxd, has really mastered the art of directing captivating dance sequences, but he still hasn’t found an emotional foundation equal to his films’ evolving technical virtuosity. But given that an engaging story is only vaguely important in the confines of a world that brings together breakdancing, parkour, acrobatics, lasers, and spectacularly ugly track jackets, Step Up 3-D suffers from no shortcomings important enough to prevent it from being one of the most colorful, effervescent and entertaining films of the summer.

I could have lived to be 1,000 and would never have guessed that a studio would not only remake What Women Want but that the studio making the decision would teen up the whole affair and call it What Boys Want. Can we be far away from an equal and opposite reaction leading to a poorly conceived book adaptation called Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret Thatcher?
New Line is the studio taking the Mel Gibson-Helen Hunt hit and putting in high school. It will reportedly star someone called Selena Gomez, and though I don't recognize her name, her show The Wizards of Waverly Place rings a bell. However, Gomez is already something of a power broker, I guess. She's got a production company and already has a deal in place to develop at least two films she'll star in and produce. And she's 17.

In 2000, Mel Gibson starred in Paramount Pictures romantic comedy What Women Want. After a freak accident, Gibson’s character becomes able to hear every thought of any woman. The film was run with the tagline of “Finally…a man is listening,”and did decently at the theater.
Well, apparently New Line Cinema thought the idea of a character being able to hear the thoughts of the opposite sex was a pretty good plot line, as they’re taking on a comedy flick titled — ever so cleverly — What Boys Want. Aside from the obvious similarity in title, the movie revolves around a girl who can, you guessed it, hear what men are thinking.
There’s no question that Hollywood doesn’t always have the freshest ideas come out for movies, and that plots have a tendency to get recycled with one or two details being tweaked to make the new story...

2000’s What Women Want was admittedly, a very enjoyable film. The mix of Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt onscreen was magic and the idea that for once men would be able to truly understand women was an idea that appealed to all of my female friends instantly.
That does not, however, give New Line Cinema, Amy Andelson and Emily Meyer carte blanche to play with the idea. Turning the “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” premise into a prepubescent “fluffy” outing is not my idea of a decent followup but then again – nobody asked me did they?
Moaning aside, New Line have indeed green lit What Boys Want, which as I’m sure you’ve already guessed, sees a teenage girl develop the unique ability to hear what the boys in school are thinking. The unfortunate thing about this (in my view) is that most boys of that...

New Line Cinema's has picked up "What Boys Want," a comedy pitch from Amy Andelson and Emily Meyer. Selena Gomez is apparently in talks to star as a teenage girl who can hear what men think. Mel Gibson starred in "What Women Want" back in 2000 and, after an accident, was able to hear women's thoughts. The seventeen-year-old has made a big fan following from her role in the Disney Channel's "The Wizards of Waverly Place." He formed July Moon Productions in 2008 and has partnered with Xyz Films to make at least two films in which she would star.

New Line have picked up a pitch by Step Up 3D writers Emily Meyer and Amy Adelson for teen romcom What Boys Want, featuring Disney Channel star Selena Gomez.Does that title sound familiar? Try this: it's about a girl who can hear what the opposite sex are thinking.Yup indeedy. Although there's no mention of it in Variety's story, this is sounding awfully like a sequel or a spinoff or a reboot or just something that sounds very unofficially similar to 2001's Mel Gibson starrer What Women Want, in which Gibson played a guy who... could hear what the opposite sex were thinking.Gibson used his talent to win Helen Hunt, but Gomez's potential conquest has yet to be revealed. We're sure he will be wholesome. At least by the end of the movie.

A household name to every tween in America because of her hit Disney Channel series "The Wizards of Waverly Place," Gomez is getting ready to make a jump to the big screen. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure anyone who isn't a teen girl would want this, but apparently the demand is high enough as Variety reports New Line has picked up What Boys Want, a comedy pitch for Disney star Selena Gomez to headline written by Amy Andelson and Emily Meyer. The story is all too familiar as it finds Gomez's character with the sudden ability to hear the thoughts of the boys around her. We've seen this trick before with the Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt comedy What Women Want, and now we can cue the jokes of boys being obsessed with breasts, masturbation and the random non sequitur's of immature humor. Of course, there's the chance that this could bring some laughs just as all the different iterations of a story like Big have their own certain charm for different audiences. After all 13 Going on 30 ...

Paramount's romantic-comedy What Women Want (2000) grossed $371M worldwide...making the idea a solid contender for a resurrection of sorts. And that's exactly what's happening. Sort of. It may only have been a decade, but New Line Cinema plans to essentially take the idea and re-introduce it to a younger market. According to Variety, the studio has announced that it has acquired the comedy pitch for "What Boys Want" by Amy Andelson and Emily Meyer (Step Up 3D). It has also attached the 17-year-old Selena Gomez to star.
The new story obviously changes things up a bit, centering on a teenage girl who can hear what guys are thinking (insert your own jokes here).
This, of course, begs all sorts of questions about teen romance and sex, and precisely what sort of tone the film will take.

Ok, so I liked What Women Want in a guilty-pleasure way, plus Mel waxing his leg was pretty funny. But a Tween-centric spin-off/sequel/remake/rip-off or whatever they wish to call it, by Disney nonetheless, even I can't stomach that! The studio is developing something called What Boys Want from a pitch by Amy Andelson and Emily Meyer who are also providing the Mouse with Step Up 3D. You read that right - a third Step Up And in 3D. There...
