[[tmz:video id="0_91onowck"]] Even President Donald Trump wants to know what's going on with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers ... so, he went right to the owner and asked him. Dan Gilbert happened to be at the White House Wednesday -- along with the Chicago Cubs (who are in town to play the Nationals) and Trump brought them all together for a high level introduction. While introducing Gilbert to guys like Joe Maddon, Kris Bryant, Jon Lester and...

NBA stars are competitive both on-and-off the court, as evidenced by the Instagram exchange between LeBron James and Draymond Green in the aftermath of the Golden State Warriors beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday. Three days later, Warriors power forward Green showed up to the championship parade in Oakland, California, on Thursday sporting a snarky T-shirt, Espn reported. The offending article of clothing featured the logo for Quicken Loans — Cavs’ owner Dan Gilbert’s company and the title sponsor for the team’s home arena — but with the text changed to “Quickie,” alongside an...

LeBron James says Cavs owner Dan Gilbert "completely bashed" him in that infamous 2010 letter about Lbj leaving for Miami ... and Bron says it was so disrespectful, it almost stopped him from returning to Cleveland in 2014. LeBron opened up about the letter on Uninterrupted's "The Shop" -- which was shot during All Star Weekend but released Friday. Gilbert's letter was loaded with insults -- even referring to LeBron as the "self-titled former King." In the video,...

Cleveland Cavaliers majority owner Dan Gilbert has found a very special way to say thanks to everyone who worked behind the scenes to help the city win its first championship in 52 years: jewelry. When the Cavs' players and coaches receive their 2016 NBA Championship rings, the entire staff of Quicken Loans Arena will join them in the honor, Cleveland.com reports. That's more than 1,000 employees - from hot dog vendors to ticket takers to janitors to security guards - who will own a piece of Cavaliers history. After Natasha Alexenko was raped and robbed at gunpoint in New York City in 1993, her first instinct was to try to wash the experience off her. "It was an ordeal that changed my life forever," she says. "And your first instinct after you've been assaulted - at least mine - was to take a hot shower." But she was living in New York as a college student and her older roommates told her to resist the urge: Contact the police, they told her, and get a rape kit. Getting the rape kit taken, however, isn't a painless process. Alexenko describes...

Best part about the Daily Journal is I don't always have to write about movies because today I want to say something about LeBron James' decision to take his talents back to Cleveland, a decision I 100% do not understand. Let me first say I fully respected his decision to go to Miami and actually wish more professional basketball players would make the decision based on wanting to win and play with friends over money. He was made the villain largely due to television ratings, he had to sit back as his former owner roasted him publicly and the people of Cleveland treated him no better. Now... he decides to go backc I understand... restrict paid="true" ...some people are saying this is him being the bigger person, going back to family, etc. but I'm sorry, if a city and, most importantly, an owner treats me like that I am...

Warren Buffett and Dan Gilbert will pay you a billion dollars to pick a perfect March Madness bracket — good thing they are the second and 408th richest people in the country, respectively. The odds of picking a perfect Ncaa tournament bracket are not good: technically speaking, it is a one-in-9.2 quintillion chance. That's a real number. “Are those about the same odds or less odds of LeBron coming back to Cleveland?” Seth Meyers quipped to Cavaliers team owner Gilbert on Thursday's “Late Night.” See video: Shaquille O'Neal Talks Crowdfunding ‘Shaq-Fu,’ Demonstrates Shaq Attack With Buffett in the house, the conversation naturally.

This would be way better than winning the office pool. Heck, you wouldn't even have to go to the office ever again! Affable billionaire Warren Buffett is offering $1 billion to whoever can get a perfect March Madness bracket. He teamed up with Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert, also owner of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, for the contest that just made college basketball more interesting for non-sports-fans. Before we get to the terms of the creative lottery, let's look at the odds. They're 1 in 9.2 quintillion (huh?!) if you pick your teams randomly and about 1 in 772 billion if you incorporate some hoops knowledge. As for the terms, the winner will get the billion in 40 yearly installments of $25 million. Bragging rights are paid in full. The 20 most accurate, yet imperfect, entries also get $100,000 each to be used toward a home purchase or contraction job. Only one person can enter per household - so...

Melbourne, Mar h 7: Mar iage, money and children are the keys to creating a happy life - but only at certain points, says a psychologist.
In order to live a happy life you should have money, but not too much. Get married but have lots of sex and talk as much as you can and don't have children.
It may sound strange but these are the advices of Harvard professor of psychology, Daniel Gilbert to lead a happy life, according to News.com.au.
According to Prof Gilbert, his mother had always told him that marriage, money and children were the keys to creating a happy life - but he discovered she was only "partially" right.
He found that people who are married were happier than other people, because they were healthier,.

LeBron James changed how the game is played off the court for the National Basketball Association two summers ago by spurning a new contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team that drafted him out of high school, in a televised Decision to take his talents to South Beach to team up with the established Dwayne Wade and fellow free agent signee, Chris Bosh, to win a title and finally become a king with a crown. Last Thursday, on June 21st, that mission was accomplished when King James led the Heat to a stunning Finals victory in five games, four straight victories, over the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder led by their own homegrown Big Three of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook. The victory is especially sweet for James because while many in and outside of professional basketball considered it would only be a matter of time before he won a title,...

Detroit — Kid Rock is teaming up with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for a one-night benefit concert for the nationally recognized orchestra, organizers announced Monday.
The May 12 show at Detroit's Fox Theatre aims to raise $1 million, the Dso said. Kid Rock plans to perform with the orchestra and his own band. Detroit Symphony Music Director Leonard Slatkin is expected to conduct the orchestra.
"As a musician, and of course a Detroiter, I am proud to be supporting this longstanding cultural institution," Kid Rock said in a statement. He said the performance, which will include his Twisted Brown Trucker Band, will be "well worth the price of admission."
Tickets go in sale Saturday. They start at $100, with top price levels including an afterparty.

I know. You have heard, read, seen, and quipped enough about LeBron James and the 2011 NBA Finals loss by the Miami Heat to the Dallas Mavericks in the last few days to last you a lifetime. Let's flashback to the 2003 NBA draft. The draft is an event that does not only serve the purpose of replenishing teams with young talent. It is also a means of leveling the competitive playing field. Without taking into account the skewing by the random draft lottery that scrambles the very worst teams and any trades that might take place, the teams with the poorer records of the previous season choose players first, and the teams with the...

Where do we start with Kenneth Lonergan's "Margaret," his followup to the critically acclaimed "You Can Count On Me." Well, here goes. The film has been sitting in limbo for the past few years--it wrapped way back in 2005--for a variety of reasons. Foremost, a legal battle erupted between Fox Searchlight and the film's producer Dan Gilbert, with suits and countersuits filed, as Lonergan simply could not find the picture in the editing bay. Lonergan apparently requested further time in the editing room, while multiple editors apparently also took control of the film at various points both with and without…...

"A wandering mind is an unhappy mind," the researchers conclude. In other news: having sex makes people happy. It was the one activity where people reported mind-wandering less than 30% of the time.
The iPhone, increasingly ubiquitous these days, can add another node to its "Where I've Been" widget: the pages of the leading research journal Science. A pair of Harvard psychologists used an iPhone app as the principal research tool for a study on happiness, published today in the journal.
The "Track Your Happiness" app, we noted when it first launched, periodically pings you throughout the day, asking you to fill out a survey that only takes a minute. It asks how happy you are, what you're doing at the moment, whether you exercised recently, whether you're alone, and whether your mind is either wandering or in the moment.
That last question proved to be the key to the study,...

In Daniel Gilbert's 2006 book "Stumbling on Happiness," the Harvard professor of psychology looks at several studies and concludes that marital satisfaction decreases dramatically after the birth of the first child-and increases only when the last child has left home. He also ascertains that parents are happier grocery shopping and even sleeping than spending time with their kids. Other data cited by 2008's "Gross National Happiness" author, Arthur C. Brooks, finds that parents are about 7 percentage points less likely to report being happy than the childless.
