There’s another Amityville movie to watch! And this one actually has some connection to the early days of the franchise. These days it seems like every indie filmmaker in the world has made something with Amityville in the title, but the new film The Amityville Curse is based on the novel of the same title, which was written by Hans Holzer. Holzer was a parapsychologist who invested the supposedly haunted house in Amityville in the ’70s and went on to write the books Murder in Amityville (which served as a source of inspiration for Amityville II: The Possession), The Secret of Amityville, and yes, The Amityville Curse. The new adaptation of Holzer’s work has been released through the Tubi streaming service as a Tubi Original – and you can check out the trailer for it in the embed above.
This is actually the second movie to be called The Amityville Curse.

The Amityville Curse seemed to bear a couple of its own curses. It’s an Amityville knockoff and after Amityville Cult, Amityville Thanksgiving, Amityville in the Hood, and so many more, it’s pretty much a guarantee of mediocrity. Secondly, it’s a Tubi Original, which usually carries a very similar guarantee.
But there were a couple of reasons to be hopeful as well. Director Éric Tessier may not be well known outside of Quebec but his adaptions of two of Patrick Senécal’s novels, 5150 Elm’s Way and more importantly, Sur le Seuil aka Evil Words, are both excellent. Dennis Heaton wrote the film, based on the novel by the late Hans Holzer. Heaton you may recall wrote the Billy Connolly zom-com Fido.

Sarah Lind is so enjoyable to watch on screen, and we cannot wait to see her portray twins in The Great Christmas Switch.
Kaelynn is a super mom juggling her kids and to-do lists, while Sophia is laid back, struggling to find her work-life balance.
We had a chance to chat with Sarah about the movie and more, and all the good stuff from our conversation is below.
So let's talk The Great Christmas Switch.
Yeah!
You play twins.
Yeah.
How fun is that?
It was great.
Have you ever done that before?
No, I've never, and it was a fun challenge to make sure the two are distinct from each other. There are not so many scenes of them that it made it take a really long time while we were shooting, but there are a few shots where the twins are in the same shot.
I was going to ask about that.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally back! Tonight's midseason premiere wasted no time giving us exactly what we wanted: A swoon-worthy FitzSimmons scene. (Well, it made us wait until the end of the episode, but you know what we mean.) After spending the entire episode being a bit awkward around one another, Jemma (Elizabeth Henstridge) finally approached Leo (Iain De Caestecker) and put it all out there: "I miss you. There it is. I miss you." It turned out that killing Will (Dillon Casey)—or the husk of Will who'd been inhabited by that pesky Inhuman—left Leo with more than a little guilt. It was time for Jemma to remind him of exactly what he killed on the planet: A monster, not Will....

Doesn't it seem like the best characters on TV right now are non-fictional? This past week, a colorful slate of Republican presidential candidates took part in a debate so tense and sloppy that it may change the way those events are televised in the future. Warriors point guard Steph Curry and the world champion Kansas City Royals gave prestige-tv–level performances. Meanwhile, a Project Greenlight season that's raised questions about diversity and privilege in Hollywood ended with one final stand-off between producer Effie Brown and writer-director Jason Mann. Marvel entered The Martian territory in this week’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., with mixed results…
This review contains spoilers.
4,722 Hours
Although its title is more reminiscent of a certain James Franco-starring arm-chopping-off movie, this week’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. reminded me of one thing – Ridley Scott’s The Martian. Of course, the film is too recent to have overtly influenced the episode (although Andy Weir’s book could have), there were some big, undeniable similarities.
Primarily, we are presented at the start with the idea of Elizabeth Henstridge’s Jemma Simmons trapped on a barren and remote planet with nothing to keep her sane but conversations with herself. We know from earlier episodes that it’ll be a long time until her earthly colleagues find a way to rescue her.
For twenty minutes or so, this made for a uniquely engaging episode. Moments like Simmons shouting...

Cast: Dillon Casey (Oscar), Serinda Swan (Emily), Mehcad Brooks (Niles), Lauren Schneider (Karen), Aaron Hill (Randy), Amanda Fuller (Beth), Wayne Pere (Bud), David Jensen (Jimmy), Daniel Bernhardt (Grimley Boutine/Lockjaw), Sid Haig (Chopper)
The creature feature genre is often the most neglected of all the horror subgenres. It takes a back seat to more bankable premises such as slasher and paranormal horror. A new good creature feature is about as hard to find as the creature in the movie itself. Back in the day (way, way, back) in the 1950’s, the creature feature held the lion’s share of what any horror fan would want to see. In my humble opinion, it’s the biggest gamble for anybody that has plans to make a horror film now. Out of the gate, it has two strikes against it.

On August 15, The CW launched CW Seed, a digital studio focused on developing original series on the Web, with the goal of establishing projects that can ideally be ported over to the broadcast network if they connect with an audience.
It's a strategy that's worked well for shows like Lisa Kudrow's "Web Therapy" on Showtime and Adult Swim's "Childrens Hospital," and CW Seed has launched with a diverse array of comedies, like the third season of critically-acclaimed "Husbands"; globetrotting "Backpackers" starring "Nikita's" Dillon Casey; "The P.E.T. Squad Files" produced by "Heroes'" Milo Ventimiglia; and animated "Gallery Mallory," which will feature guest voices from CW stars like Misha Collins, Justin Hartley and Kat Graham.
In an attempt to get over a serious case of cold feet, "Backpackers" finds recently engaged Ryan (Noah Reid) and Beth (Meghan Heffern) embarking on separate European adventures leading up to their wedding.

Last week’s episode of Nikita was shocking on multiple levels. First, it dared to kill off a fan-favorite character. Second, it dared to burn down its own house. Nikita has always been a trigger-happy show and has dared to kill off high profile characters before (R.I.P. Percy), but killing one of its white-knight heroes was earth-shattering. In addition, we all knew the days of Division being able to operate as a clandestine force for good would be short-lived with all those allegedly reformed agents chaffing under the imposed-constraints. We just did not suspect that it would be this short. Division literally imploded once the recruits figured out that their own government was coming to exterminated each and everyone of them, effectively reneging on the deal to give each a pardon in exchange for their service in tracking down the rogue Division agents.

Nikita, Season 3, Episode 18: “Broken Home”
Written by Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett
Directed by John Badham
Airs Fridays at 8pm (Et) on the CW
The boiling tensions in Division came to a head last week, pushed forward in no small part by Amanda. With Ryan out of commission, Nikita captured, and Alex mentally compromised, the leadership of the covert organisation was at the weakest level it has been since Percy’s death, making the results of this coup truly uncertain, particularly on a show that has never been hesitant in shaking up the status quo, starting all the way back with the death of major characters Thom and Jaden in season one. This week’s episode explores the fallout from the Division coup and Nikita’s capture, delivering another shocking episode that gives the audience a glimpse into what makes Amanda tick, and leaves Division irrevocably changed.

Next month a devilish new agent shows her face at Division when the CW’s Nikita premiers the new cast member, actress Jessica Camacho. You might recognize Camacho from ABC’s Last Resort, a great show that ended after only 13 episodes and won’t be seeing a second season order. TVLine had the exclusive news about Camacho’s guest appearance. Might it get bumped up to recurring status? Or will her dark intent endanger her health? We’ll have to wait and see.
Camacho’s episode will show on the CW on April 5th, when her character, Rachel, is proven to have quite an agenda. Certain to remind fans of Nikita herself, Rachael has designs for breaking free of Division’s power forever. Currently working as a technical operations staffer, Rachael is one of the few assets left in the shadowy organization’s hold.

The CW’s Nikita (Fridays, 8/7c) last week shockingly “killed off” its stalwart Navy Seal after Amanda framed him for a horrendous crime — but of course, he’s not really gone.
